  1. Can’t speak to #1 - that’s personal preference. #2 - auto stop/start appears to only be available on SE FWD models but I’m not 100% sure. It cannot be deactivated. I have it on my 2018 F150 and really like it but I can understand why you wouldn’t like it on the Edge. 3 - keyless ignition - vast majority like it. There are safeguards to keep you from leaving the key in the vehicle accidentally or removing it from the vehicle while it’s running. It would only take you a couple of weeks to get used to it. 4 is a real head-scratcher. You don’t need a MP3 player or iPod for music. Instead of ripping them to the internal hard drive you use your computer and rip the cds into iTunes or some other free software, then copy them to a small usb drive you can leave in the vehicle all the time. It works great and you can have individual playlists. Sync 3 is a huge improvement over MFT and the pre-MFT systems.
  2. If it is possible it would be via Forscan but I haven’t heard anyone doing it or if it’s possible. They changed the algorithm sometime around 2013 (my 2013 fusion did the same thing - only came on around 23 miles to empty). They changed it back to 50 miles (80 km) for the the 2015+ models.
  3. You’re thinking of the Focus RS AWD system that includes torque vectoring.
  4. I think you’re just being overly cautious. Ford also publishes GVCR and GVWR and all should taken into account along with tongue weight for a specific user. Basically they’re just giving you the absolute maximum.
  5. I’m not arguing whether it’s a good idea or possible given the other parameters. I’m just telling you that’s the definition of tow capacity per Ford.
  6. Look at the first chart - it says Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight. Doesn’t say anything about the vehicle contents. https://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/17RV&TT_Ford_Edge_Sep7.pdf
  7. Nope, nope nope. You’re talking about GCWR - Gross combined Weight Ratio. The weight of the vehicle and contents plus the trailer and contents. That is totally different than the Tow Capacity. The Tow Capacity is how much weight you can pull behind the hitch. Period. Ford says this explicitly in their towing guides. And yes tongue weight does matter as does GCWR. Let’s say the Edge weighs 4000 lbs and the GVWR is 5000 lbs and the tow rating is 3500 lbs. You can add 1000 lbs of cargo and/or people to the vehicle AND tow a 3500 lb trailer and still be within Ford’s recommendations assuming the GCWR is at least 8500 lbs.
  8. But you said the factory tow rating included all the vehicle passengers and cargo and that’s simply not correct. It’s only the weight of the trailer and contents. Now if you’re saying that you would not want to tow that much with additional weight in the tow vehicle that’s a completely different story. Don’t confuse factory specs with your personal recommendations.
  9. You’re thinking of GCWR - Gross Combined Weight Rating - which includes both the tow vehicle, trailer and all contents of both. Or GVWR - Gross Vehicle Weight Rating - which is the max weight of the tow vehicle not including the trailer. Tow rating is the maximum weight of what you are towing.
  10. I don’t think the normal key code allows you to start the vehicle. I think it’s either a separate key code or it only works with Phone as a Key enabled. And they said you can delete that capability altogether so no worries about a former owner doing anything. Since it has cell connectivity maybe it validates your personal code against your Lincoln owner account to let you start the vehicle. So by disabling or breaking that connection you disable the start capability.
  11. You can get a XLT supercab for $32K - $37K depending on equipment (2wd). That’s the best bargain. Lariats and above don’t have much for rebates so you’re looking at a minimum $6K up to $10K jump to a Lariat.
  12. Ok I see what you’re talking about now. I was looking at the Forum headers and main page. I still don’t see why that would make you think that the forum was an official Ford site, but point taken.
  13. The tow rating does not include people or gas in the vehicle - only the trailer.
  14. The new Lincoln Aviator was just revealed and it will come with Phone as a Key so you can use your Bluetooth phone to unlock and start the car, no fob needed. If your phone isn’t working you can use the keypad and code to open and operate the vehicle.
  15. But you upgraded the pads at the same time. The pads gave you better stopping power, not the rotors. If you put the same pads on a stock rotor you’ll stop just as fast.
  16. Once again, rotors don’t give you more stopping power even if they are slotted or drilled. That comes from the pads and the calipers and the clamping force. Rotors are just eye candy with stock brakes.
  17. Oh ok. But that’s the real issue - you really don’t know for sure what other changes were made. They must have lowered the tow rating to 1500 for the 2.0L due to cooling, so maybe the larger fans and radiator would suffice. Not sure I’d be willing to take that gamble though.
  18. The towing guide frontal area is just the size of the vehicle and trailer front together. It measures how much wind resistance you can withstand. I should not have used that term. I was simply referring to the amount of air made available to the cooling system - it’s different with and without the tow package as evidenced by the different grille reinforcements. Simply put the tow package allows more air into the larger radiator and fans. If not then the larger radiator and fans wouldn’t do any good.
  19. I added a hidden hitch to our MKX and have no problems with the kick sensor at all. How are you trying to activate it? You need to kick straight ahead and up touching your shoelaces to the underside of the bumper. Don’t sweep it side to side.
  20. Gosh, now I feel famous. Or is it infamous?
  21. I thought I heard that 4dtech made the sync 3 updates available to folks that upgraded from sync 2 to sync 3. Otherwise you’re on your own to get the upgrade files which are usually available in various forums. The f150forum.com guys have done a lot of sync 2 to sync 3 upgrades and also early upgrades to V3.0 using unofficial files and what has to be done to get the official upgrade.
  22. Yes but maybe with some polyester fill. I think you’re limited a bit on depth but there are aftermarket subs that will fit.
  23. On the sub youd need to swap it out for a better one with a dedicated amp. You can do that within the factory space. Ive seen at least a few posted on here in the past.
  24. Slotting and drilling will not get you better stopping power. For that start with better pads and stainless brake lines. After that you’d need a big brake kit with bigger rotors and calipers.
  25. Just to be clear, the coupling itself doesn’t sense slip. The PCM senses slip via the wheel speed sensors and electronically triggers the coupling as needed. It also triggers the coupling if it thinks wheel spin may occur such as a hard launch or accelerating while turning. It also uses a yaw sensor and steering wheel angle as inputs.
