They don’t build retail (sold) vehicles right away because the first ones off the line are held for inspection and may have to wait for repairs before being shipped. After 5 consecutive days of error free builds they start building and shipping the retail orders. If they go 4.9 days and get an error they have to start over. But in this case with no major changes I would expect yours to be built in the the next 2 weeks.
All Edges are made in Canada, block heaters are never standard on US vehicles, I don’t have the 2014 Canada order guide but I do see the 2021 Canada order guide and the block heater is standard, so I would guess they were standard in 2014 too.
No - you don’t get a build date until the vehicle is scheduled and that may not happen for weeks depending on commodity restrictions, your order priority and what else your dealer has on order. Make sure your order is priority 10 - that’s the best (lower is better).
Replace the gas cap. Replace the fan assembly with Motorcraft parts. There should be a topic or two on that or check for MACT Ford Edge YouTube videos.
Yes, Ford does do AWAs - after warranty adjustment. But it’s done in conjunction with the dealer.
I don’t agree that it’s the mfrs responsibility to fix anything out of warranty, especially when you have the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty. When you buy something you know exactly what the mfr covers and you choose whether to buy extra coverage.
I do think mfrs SHOULD extend the warranty for these types of problems as a matter of good customer service. I just don’t think they are obligated to do so.
They are taking responsibility by fixing the problem under warranty and with a new block design. What they’re not doing is extending the warranty to cover failures that happen after the 5 yr/60K powertrain warranty. However, you also had the option to purchase an extended warranty and chose not to.
