It will vary engine by engine. I understand the small diesels in Europe are really bad. On the F150 3.5EB it's very smooth.

I think Trump fanatics (as opposed to people like me who can't stand the man but dislike the alternatives even more) are Conservatives who resonate with build a wall, kill obamacare, reduced business regulation, lower business taxes, reduced global welfare and preserve american jobs. Other conservative candidates did not and do not support these ideas at all or at least not to the extent Trump does. And the impression is that Trump does not fit the typical politician profile where they follow the party line, cater to special interest groups and only care about getting re-elected because it's their livelihood. The Russia thing to me doesn't look good, but at this point all I've seen is that Russia put out the same propaganda about the Democrats that all the other Conservatives were putting out there already, so I don't see how that had any affect on the election. Now if they were actually hacking and changing ballots that would be completely different but I haven't seen anything that suggests that. This talks about the inspection delays in the original Iran deal. Only some facilities were monitored in real time. https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2015/sep/08/politifact-sheet-6-things-know-about-iran-nuclear-/ All that deal would have done is make it a little more difficult for Iran to create a bomb. Why would Iran need to keep the ability to create a bomb in 12 months instead of 2 months if they really had no plans to make a bomb? I understand it's a case of "it's better than nothing" but to me it's like telling a convicted felon you can still carry a gun but it has to be a small one and you can only have 2 bullets. Personally I think this "all or nothing" attitude from both sides has created chaos. The answer to the immigration problem is not build a wall and keep everybody out. Nor is it open the border and let everybody in with free health care. But until we get some moderates willing to compromise we won't get a viable solution. To me Trump should be a signal to Republicans and Democrats alike that they need to find more moderate and better candidates going forward including Congress. Rand Paul is the only one I've heard that makes any sense.

Where are you touching the door handle? You have to touch the inside of the handle to unlock and the raised tabs on the top to lock.

This is true but it hasn't been an issue this summer for me in 90 degree plus Atlanta heat and humidity. It will restart the engine after a short period if necessary to keep the cabin cool.

I didn't say it justified all the behaviors, but Obama was weak and everyone else knew it. He tried to be everybody's friend. The Iran deal was a joke that did nothing for the US or for world peace. Why do you need 21 days advance warning of an inspection if you're not doing anything wrong? North Korea backed down and has at least started dialogue with South Korea and the US. They never considered that with Obama in office. Our allies sit back and let the US do everything and pay for it with money we don't have. Trump is pushing them to do their fair share. He's addressing trade imbalances (right or wrong) that previous presidents refused to address. He's making people and countries uncomfortable but in most cases they needed to be made uncomfortable. He's making changes that neither the democrats or republicans have been willing to make and that's why people voted for him. I would prefer that he shut his mouth and get off twitter, but I really hope both the democrats and republicans get better candidates for the next election. Given the choice of Bernie, Hillary or Trump today I'd vote for Trump - no question. We need moderate candidates on both sides that are willing to work with everyone else for the good of the country instead of just promoting their party or the party line.

The stupid start/stop is perfectly fine if you give yourself a little time to actually try it and get used to it. Seems most people have made up their mind that they hate it without even trying it for more than a few minutes. I have it on my F150 and I actually like it. It can be turned off with Forscan. As for selectshift, I'm still not sure that functionality is going away entirely - we'll have to wait and see how the new 8 speed works.

Ford did buy back a lot of Edges like yours with the A pillar leak - I think it depended on the severity of the leak and the damage. I don't know if those customers had to pay taxes again. I agree in that situation Ford probably should have just eaten the cost and replaced it with a new one. But on the other hand a lot of those vehicles were fixed and never had problems again. I hate to say it but if the problems are truly intermittent I would probably trade it in at another dealer or at least get a trade-in appraisal from another dealer - if the nagging problems really bother you. Sometimes that happens with any vehicle - even if it hasn't had water damage.

It’s really become like a college rivalry where each side hates the other side and each side blindly protects their own. And nobody seems capable of having a rational conversation or finding a middle ground. Congress certainly isn’t. I’m fiscally conservative but socially liberal. So I get attacked from both sides depending on which issue I’m addressing. I think social media and fake news has made all this so much worse. I’m sick and tired of partisan tv shows and facebook posts. You simply can’t figure out what to trust any more.

Get some meguiar’s cleaner wax or polish or even a clay bar and I bet it comes off - looks like a little paint transfer.

I'll take someone without character who isn't paralyzed by politics and who isn't beholden to either political party and who understands business and jobs over the mess we've had the last 20 years. I don't agree with everything and I don't like him personally but at the very least he's a wake up call to the GOP establishment that the people aren't going to put up with their crap candidates any more. At least he's trying to keep jobs in the US and stimulate our economy - whether you agree with his actions or not. And we need somebody to stand up to other countries and not get bullied. As for Russia - I haven't seen anything that he's done or purported to have done that would harm the US. I don't care what he says in a press conference - what is he doing with Russia is all I care about. All I see is a bunch of liberals who are hell bent on destroying the man on every word he utters and looking for something bad every hour of every day. It's really shameful. And I have liberal friends who are caught up in it. I mean, I didn't like Obama but I never hoped he would die.

ford sync no longer supported by ford
akirby replied to bubbadewsky's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
No, why would you think that? Sync services are things that nobody used anyway - turn by turn directions, etc. Pretty obsolete in today's environment. -
Especially if they offered to swap it out.
-
Oh wait - that doesn’t have the adaptive steering, does it? In that case it’s either normal or your steering rack is bad. Try another 2011-2014 Edge for comparison if possible.
-
No adjustment. When does it feel sluggish - at low speed (in a parking lot) or on the highway.

Pirelli Scorpions are decent tires. Not great but decent.....

akirby replied to bubbadewsky's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
It just means they won’t release any new software updates. -
The Pirelli Scorpions are pretty much the only choices for an all season tire (at least from the major brands). The OEM Verdes or the Zero All Season Plus - $210 - $230 each. There are several more high performance summer tires but they're summer only and really expensive. They're not bad tires but ours got really noisy and I had to replace them at 22K.

I don't think the ST is going to be that much more expensive than a 2018 sport. Maybe $1500?

Comprehensive List of Possible Forscan Mods?
akirby replied to ben senise's topic in Accessories & Modifications
That would be a good mod to find, although I think it’s a bit less interesting on a 6 speed. I have it on my 10 speed F150 (normal operation) and it’s cool to see it skip gears when accelerating and see when it’s in 8th 9th or 10th gear when cruising. You use the display to lock out higher gears (for towing) but I leave it on all the time. I wonder if the new 8 speed will have something similar? -
October at the earliest - maybe as late as November depending on how long it takes to get to OK to Buy status.
-
But you can eat the 2.7LEB engine - you just have to get the ST. The 2.0L is needed for exports to Europe and other countries that tax larger engines. I think they’re just keeping the combinations low for now and they’re trying to accelerate the next gen version which I’m sure will have more choices. If you’re looking to spend $45K you should look at a MKX where you can get the 2.7L on lower end models.
-
I was referring to Escape and Fusion where most sales are lower end models as well as some lower end models in Europe. And lower end Edges are in the $25K - $35K range. F150s have a much higher profit margin and can easily reach $60K. There could also be some technical reasons they haven't done it on the 2.0L yet.

I agree that they shouldn't be used to protect inefficient businesses. However - are you saying that the paper companies can lease land with the right to harvest trees on the private market for the same cost as what they're getting from the government? I don't know for sure but I doubt that. And that's where the subsidy comes in. If it costs $10K/acre for US companies but the Canadian govt is giving it to their paper companies for $5K/acre then that qualifies as a government subsidy to me. Now if it is the same price then you're right and it's not a subsidy at all. But I don't think having our government subsidize a US business just so it can compete with a Canadian business subsidized by the Canadian government is the right model. Let's just get rid of the subsidies altogether and there probably wouldn't be a need for a tariff.

The stand alone option 21" black wheels come with all season tires. But you have to get the 401A package.
