NO paddle shifters on the 2019 Edge FWD... WHAT??
akirby replied to tk2fast's topic in Transaxle (FWD)
The 2019 Edge owner’s manual is posted at www.motorcraftservice.com. It only shows the selectshift transmission operation with the paddle shifters. It does not make any mention of “if equipped” or “optional”. I think that was just a wording difference in the order guide between the new 8 speed transmission and the other transmissions. -

The GM 9 speed just debuted a few months ago on a GM sedan (forgot which one). -
NO paddle shifters on the 2019 Edge FWD... WHAT??

I heard the opposite - that the brand new 8 speed would be on the ST as the 8F57 and the others would get a 8 speed version of the 6F35 or 6F50. I guess we’ll just have to wait to find out. -
FCW flashes red lights on the windshield and beeps loudly if it detects a possible front collision. It’s then up to you to hit the brakes. Brake assist just makes the brakes a little more effective.

That’s not something Ford would ever comment on publicly. Either it was done for cost savings or they want to entice buyers to spend more money or they’re using a different transmission that doesn’t support it. I’m hearing there are 3 different transmissions - one based on the GM 9 speed but with 8 gears in the ST and 2 other 8 speeds based on the old 6F. -

It's not even on sale yet. I wouldn't expect Ford to make any comments until it's at least on sale, at which point we'll know for sure one way or the other. (the main reason they won't comment is that things can change at the last minute so they might be giving you bad info). -
It has to know the tire pressures otherwise it doesn’t know when it goes out of spec. The system you’re describing using the wheel speed sensors may have been used by other mfrs but not Ford.

The new platforms will have it, but that’s at least 2-3 years away or Edge/Nautilus. Mustang already has it.

13N02 - Extended Warranty Coverage on Brake Booster
akirby replied to omar302's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
It’s a fairly simple concept. When they find a defect like this they determine if it was a bad batch of parts or an assembly line problem and what caused it and when it likely occurred and that’s what they either recall or cover with an extended warranty. If yours wasn’t included it’s likely (but not guaranteed obviously) that it’s a different problem even if the symptoms are the same. It’s also possible they’ll expand the coverage so if you have to pay for the repair keep your receipts and if they cover it later you’ll get reimbursed. I had the same thing happen with a Sony flat screen TV. -
Also - let it sit connected to a jump source for about 10-15 minutes. Sometimes if the battery is really bad it takes some time before you can jump it. And if you don't already have one, get a jump box that way you can jump yourself without another car. And keep it charged and in the car (if you don't replace the battery).
-
Could still be a bad battery. They don't fail like they used to. Find a shop and test the CCAs - I bet they're really low (300 or less). Worst case just put a new battery in and see if that fixes it. It's a good bet and you won't have to worry about it for 2-3 more years.

I believe the hood sensor is also a potential problem area.
-
Per the order guide it's standard on all STs (400A and 401A).

So the 2015 Edge never had sync 3? I must have gotten it confused with the 2016 MKX then.
-
That must have been the 2015 Edge that debuted with MFT but switched to Sync 3 a few months later.
-
’ That’s the way Ford labels them. I think it means they’ll fit a 18” wheel. They are definitely not 18” diameter.
-
I believe early build 16s had MFT (sync 2) and later ones had sync 3. You definitely want Sync 3. The hardware upgrade is just a USB port swap.

I guarantee you the average democrat doesn't want completely open borders, Sharia law or 100% socialism. Only the fringe. Painting ALL democrats that way is not only unfair but it causes a backlash reaction where even reasonable liberals start to paint all conservatives the opposite way. If I stand up for gay rights I'm lambasted as a far left liberal by conservatives. If I call for fiscal responsibility and jobs creation and smaller government with less government spending the liberals lambaste me as a far right conservative. Doing this will get us absolutely nowhere. We need to come together and find common ground. This mentality of one side has to win is what's killing us.
-
All that depends on the dealer. Some will some won't. What they charge is anybody's guess.
-
I think somebody came in the middle of the night, masked off and painted the inside of your wheels.
-
Are you sure it’s not just built up brake dust?

7 yr/100K is most common. I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone going higher than that although I’m sure there are a few.
