    Edge Future

Edge continues with a hybrid option, probably for the 2021 model year give or take. There are conflicting reports as to whether Edge stays on the FWD platform or moves to the RWD platform, but either way it will have a hybrid model and maybe a plug in hybrid. Ford has already said everything except commercial vehicles will get at least a hybrid model.
  2. Because in some cases it does add more power and mpg by advancing the engine timing. Whether you can notice it or not based on how you drive is an entirely different story.
  3. I think the point was it’s not significantly better than other oils despite claims that it is significantly better.
  4. Easy - you become an employee with access to company systems.......
  5. It must not have been noticeable for Ford not to mention it in the OM. Good to have some empirical data to go by though!
  6. Are you speaking slowly? I get better results if I speak a little faster than normal and in a normal voice (not louder). Also if you’re looking for a specific address sometimes it’s not in the database or it’s in a different city name which is a data issue not a voice issue.
  7. My issue is trying to get the 3.7L going from low speed. Maybe I’m just used to ecoboosts having all that torque available immediately so I’m not giving it enough gas to begin with, but it’s very frustrating. Whereas with my F150 I have to be careful not to give it too much gas.
  8. That’s true but how often do you drive at 5K rpm?
  9. I find that hard to believe. The 2.3LEB in the MKC should be a rocket ship compared to the MKX 3.7L especially off the line.
  10. It does improve gas mileage but not enough to make up the difference in price. And where are you finding only a twenty cent difference in premium? Around here it’s around $0.60 or more.
  11. More usable power and no water pump engine failure to worry about. I’d much rather have a 2.0EB than the 3.7L in our MKX.
  12. Honestly the portable lift and a creeper would work for what I would be doing. If I can’t use that then I don’t need to be doing the work myself anyway.
  13. No, there is still a rear differential. The new PTU has the ability to disconnect the drive shaft when rear torque isn’t needed. No real change in performance but should provide better fuel economy.
  14. I had plans for a 2 post lift for my workshop when it was going to be a stand alone building. But since we ended up in a subdivision I had to settle for a 16x20 attached garage and the posts would be in the way for my woodworking which I would be doing 90% of the time. I’m seriously considering some of the smaller portable hydraulic lifts. They’d be perfect for working on tires or brakes but they don’t go high enough to stand under them.
  15. I think it’s all in the pcm programming. The 3.5L is an older engine and doesn’t respond as well to advanced timing as the ecoboost engines do. So they probably just didn’t tune the 3.5L to advance the timing all the way like they did with the ecoboost. Or the gains were so small they weren’t worth mentioning.
  16. Then why does the owner’s manual only say that premium will provide improved performance on the 2.0LEB engine?
  17. Nope. Not in a 2013 3.5L. At least there is no mention of it in the owner’s manual. Only the 2.0EB will do that.
  18. Huh? It doesnt matter whether you do a rearward cross or a forward cross as long as you do it the same way each time, and there is nothing lazy about it - its exactly the same amount of work either way.
  19. Yes that’s what it says but it’s not certain whether that’s accurate or not. Could just be a typo.
  20. You only need one jack stand and the jack to rotate tires. Put the jack stand on the passenger rear. Move passenger rear to passenger front. Move passenger front to driver’s rear. Move driver’s rear to driver’s front. Move driver’s front to passenger rear.
  21. Or you can get purpose made adapters for that part. The issue is being able to jack it up and place a jack stand so you can use the jack on other wheels. I just hate to take my vehicle to the tire store and wait for them to rotate them. Although as I get older that gets more attractive (oil changes too).
  22. I’ve done it using the spare, but you do have to jack up one wheel twice. Does work though.
