It doesn't matter whether the dealer is a Ford dealer or not - even a Ford dealer is an independent business completely separate from Ford. They sell and service Ford vehicles but Ford has no say in how they run their business. It's a common misconception because Ford is on the sign. The point about not buying it from Ford had nothing to do with where you bought it. The first time a vehicle is sold Ford gets the profit. After that they don't get a dime and they're not involved - it's a used car transaction between a buyer and a dealer that doesn't benefit Ford at all. In fact you could say it hurts Ford because you bought a used vehicle instead of a new vehicle. You are correct that it doesn't matter where you bought it as far as getting warranty service and you're correct that you don't get a rental without the ESP coverage. You can purchase ESP coverage any time during the initial 3/36K warranty period. Also you don't know what the previous owner did to the vehicle the first 10K miles, so I don't think it's quite fair to blame Ford for anything.

But you didn’t buy a vehicle from Ford. Somebody else did and you bought it from an independent dealer. From Ford’s standpoint you may as well have bought a Toyota. You get a lot better service if you’re the original owner going through the selling dealer.

Chef Duane has a 2011 so he does not have a 2.7L.
-
Best case it would have expired Jan 2018 so it’s a moot point.
-
5W-20 is not used by Ford or recommended for the 2.7L Engine.

Not true - they come in Ford Performance Blue, Magnetic, Ruby Red, Silver, White and Black.

Nav screen help, really old and technically challenged.

No, shouldn't matter. Can you post a video shutting down the vehicle with it on Audio, then starting it back up with nothing plugged in so we can see what it's doing? -

See if there is a demo mode. -
It's not a matter of whether it's different or not - it's your conjecture that it's stiffer than it needs to be and that every other manufacturer does it so much better. That's your opinion so there's not point in arguing that. But we don't have to agree with it. I think they tuned it for the performance they wanted even if you don't like it.

So if you put it on Audio, shut it off and restart it then it goes back to Nav? That’s not how sync 3 works. Is your phone plugged in? Are you sure it’s not going to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? -
Because it wasn’t a warranty repair at that point - it was the dealership fixing their mistake.
-
Wouldn't matter - he's convinced the ST suspension tuning sucks.
-
That's correct. No special break in oil or procedures on modern engines.
-
Correct - I think it changed recently.

Do yourself a favor and just change the battery first. If nothing else you can rule that out and you'll have a fresh battery for the next 3 years. -
Look at it this way - a battery is relatively cheap and very easy to replace and you won’t have to worry about it for another 3 years. I’d say it’s worth a shot and if nothing else it rules out the battery going forward.
-
Maybe the old starter was going bad causing the battery to weaken. The new starter required less juice so it worked a few times before the battery gave out completely. Just a guess.

Door check??
-
Sometimes the PATS receiver near the ignition fails to recognize any keys so that would affect both keys, but I think the blinking red light on the dash would tell you if that was the case or not - can't remember exactly. I'm still betting battery.
-
That’s the generic term for “I don’t know what it is”. It could be a PATS issue not reading the key but that would have nothing to do with slow starting. Could be 2 issues though - low battery and PATS. Should be pretty easy to diagnose though if he knows what he’s doing. If not take it to a Ford dealer.

I'm not positive but I seem to remember someone saying that those things were now standard on all Edges and therefore no longer part of the separate towing package.
-
2 years is not relatively new nowadays where batteries rarely last more than 3 years. Beware of any load test that doesn't check CCAs against the battery rating. Might be better to invest in a Solar BA7 tester yourself - easy to use and not too expensive.

And yes, I realize sports cars have higher steering ratios thus my question.
-
For sport driving the recommend hand positions are 9 and 3 so you can do almost a 180 without moving your hands on the wheel. That's enough for even a 90 degree plus turn on most sports cars - is that enough for the Edge or do you have to reposition your hands to make it?
