  1. You don’t have to do a “flush” - dealers have machines that just change out the old fluid for new fluid using the cooler lines. This should not hurt the transmission at all and it changes 95%+ of the fluid including the torque converter.

    Ford Edge RS

Where are you going to find a transverse (FWD) transmission to handle that much power? And a PTU and Drive shaft? By the time you fixed everything needed to handle that kind of power (way more than the Focus RS) you'd basically have a new vehicle and no way it would end up being less expensive than the others. There is a reason the others are all RWD based AWD (longitudinal).
  3. No just a google search but looking back the references were other topics here on the Edge forum and a few Carfax reports, so maybe that was a typo. Did you find anything titled "backlight shatters"?
  4. Aha! I bet that’s it. That’s the option to turn off the engine automatically after it idles for 30 minutes or so.
  5. Yep - order guide confirms it was only available on SE FWD. Which begs the question as to why the option was in the menu? They don't normally do that.
  6. I’ve also found that it’s sensitive to brake pressure. If you only use a light pressure on the brake pedal it won’t turn it off. That’s actually very handy since you can use this to make it stop when you want or not in certain situations (turning left e.g.).
  7. Do you have an A button somewhere on the dash or console to turn it on/off? Even if you turn it off it resets to on when the vehicle restarts. The owner’s manual lists a long list of reasons why it may not stop the engine including a weak battery and cold engine temperature.
  8. Another option for luggage is a hitch carrier. Even if you have to buy a hitch you're looking at less than $300. You don't need wiring.
  9. Still not a recall. That means it's registered with the government and every vehicle affected has to be inspected and/or repaired. This is just a FSA which may provide an extended warranty for the repair.
  10. That is the production design for the Explorer but it's still a prototype so the colors and materials aren't necessarily what you'll see in production and a few things might change. We'll see the production version in Detroit next month.
  11. Yes, very strange, seemingly unrelated things can happen with a flaky battery. If the battery is even close to 3 years old or older just replace it first. The other possibility in this type of situation is that one of the components is flooding the CAN bus with garbage and the modules can't communicate.
  12. Good catch - there does appear to be a FSA on it but I can’t see whether the FSA extends the warranty or not. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. It’s not a safety recall so better check with the dealer.
  13. Any shop including the dealer will generally use whatever you ask them to use if they have it or can get it or you bring it yourself.
  14. Is it still under the factory warranty? (36 months/36K miles)? If it was a factory defect it should have happened long before now (one would think). You can find shattered glass reports on just about any model. Glass breakage is usually covered by your insurance company's comprehensive plan. It's also ridiculous that they can't remove the spoiler without breaking it. You might want to try another body shop.
  15. Nick - if you're going to keep posting your negativity over and over then that's fine (to a point) but then you can't complain about others who respond and point that out. Since everyone has made their point here multiple times on both sides can we just drop it and move on?

    Ford Edge RS

The problem is all the competitors you mentioned are RWD based. I don't think the Edge platform can handle 500 hp. If they move Edge to CD6 it would be possible but last I heard they were planning to keep it FWD.
  17. Sorry - I keep thinking 2015 was just last year.
  18. ST is just the entry level tune from FP. What you're asking for would be more of a RS model which may or may not appear.
  19. Best I can tell only the Limited with package 301a and 302a came with HIDs. The base Limited 300a did not. I only checked the 2013 order guide.
  20. 2015 was an all new platform. But I was only talking about the price always being cheaper on the previous model, not that performance is always the same or close. That was specifically referring to the 2019 ST vs. the 2018 Sport.
  21. That would look funny with about 2 feet of transmission sticking out of the right side wheel well......
  22. Nobody here is giving it the "gt350" treatment. All that I've heard is that it's a slightly better Sport and that seems to be confirmed by all the folks who actually bought one including former Sport owners. A left over previous model vehicle is always going to be cheaper and the performance is pretty close. The issue is some folks were claiming it was a failure because it didn't handle like a Fiesta ST and was therefore unworthy of the ST badge which is ridiculous if you understand anything about physics and vehicle handling. The fact that the Sport is so close to the ST is a testament to the tuning ability of the normal Edge team compared to Ford Performance.
  23. It's not a matter of whether Ford knew it was the switch or not, it's just their decision on whether to offer the switch as a separate repair part or not. Normally there would only be a few failures and it's easier to just replace the entire assembly. Since there were a lot of reported problems and Ford did their research and determined it was the switch they came up with the procedure and part to fix it. It's not like they said "we know it's just the switch but let's screw them and force them to replace the entire thing."
  24. The only people who seem to be disappointed are people who haven’t driven a ST yet or people who have some imaginary standard for what a ST should be.
  25. Probably 1 mpg or so and about 20 hp.
