  1. Check the production date and other vehicles. This was supposedly fixed very early in the manufacturing process. Of course it's not that hard to fix if that's the only thing you don't like.
  2. Because it's a dealer custom job, not a factory option.

    MPG??????

Ford's 5W20 (Motorcraft) is already a synthetic blend made especially to improve fuel mileage. A full synthetic isn't going to yield much more of an improvement.
  4. That's true up to a point - that point being around 19". 20" and larger are for looks only. You also need to take into account unsprung weight. Heavier wheels will hurt acceleration and handling.

    MPG??????

If the 3.5L is anything like the 3.0L it will take up to 5K miles for the engine to loosen up and MPG to max out. You should reset your avg mpg frequently the first few months.
  6. Not much you can do about feedback - that's the steering system itself and that's not easily changed. For better handling, lowering and stiffening the suspension will help but at the expense of ride quality (to a degree). Also upgrading the tires to a high performance summer or all season tire will help a lot.
  7. I read somewhere that the MKX gets a cargo cover for 08 or maybe one is available now as an accessory. Not sure but it might be worth asking the dealer.
  8. Find the key as cheaply as possible, then have it cut like any other key and program it yourself.
  9. Is it really that difficult to spell out "probably"? I'm sorry but it drives me NUTS when people say "prolly". It just sounds lazy and uneducated.
  10. Shouldn't you have drilled a hole through the grommet? If that moves at all the metal will cut the insulation.
  11. This probably isn't applicable to this specific problem, but here is something I found out that's good to know. Several times I've heard a rattle in my Fusion that sounded like it was coming from the right rear passenger area. Each time it turned out to be a loose passenger sun visor. It's amazing how the sound gets reflected and appears to come from the right rear. So much so that I've actually checked the rear door for loose parts, even though it's happened 3 times already. I suggest having someone sit in the rear seat to verify the location of the rattle. Acoustics can be very tricky.
  12. Are you sure they were properly adjusted?
  13. Chances are the dealer will do more harm than good trying to get rid of the spots. I'd do it yourself or take it to a detailer. And I don't think modern paints require any extra curing time like they used to. You can usually wax or do whatever by the time you take delivery.
  14. I'm sure it's like the Fusion - L still shifts gears but it keeps the RPM around 4K without shifting and provides engine braking. If you have the O/D button that probably locks out 5th and 6th gear.

    FORD in trouble?

It's basically a fuel sensor and extra programming to adjust the fuel mixture based on the amount of ethanol in the fuel. But your fuel economy goes DOWN by 25% so a car that gets 20 mpg on gas only gets 15 mpg on E85. And there isn't enough corn available - it has to come from somewhere else.
  16. That article tells you in a nutshell why Ford is where they are today. It also shows why Mulally is one of a handfull of CEOs in the world that have the ability to fix it. And why he's worth every penny they're paying him.
  17. The $1K MKX rebate is only for current Mercury Sable owners. There is $1K in manufacturer to dealer incentives but that's not a rebate. There is also $500 in mfr to dealer incentives on the Edge in addition to the $500 rebate.
  18. This was definitely changed sometime in the last couple of years. My 2003 Aviator mutes the stereo but some of the 2006 Lincoln models do not. It might coincide with a change in navigation hardware.
  19. Most headrest LCDs come as full replacements so it's just a swapout. The VHS system I had in my expedition had a FM transmitter for sound through the stereo but it could be wired in directly now.
  20. Ford will routinely let you extend the lease for a few months or terminate it early especially if you are purchasing another Ford product. Ask the dealer.
  21. Ask your dealer about early lease termination. You can usually get out of your lease 2 or 3 months early with no penalty if you're buying a new Ford at the same dealership.

    MPG??????

You need to understand the test procedures. These aren't minimums - they're averages. And the 2007 tests are not realistic for most drivers. e.g. they don't use the A/C, the speed is much lower than normal, etc. For 2008 the EPA is changing the tests to be more realistic. Instead of 17-24 on the AWD it will not be 16-22. If you drive worse than the EPA tests you'll get less than that. You could also get more. Figure out what you get now relative to the EPA rating on your current vehicle and that will give you an idea of whether you'll be at, below or above the EPA ratings (2007) in the new vehicle. Lots of good info including a comparison of 2007 and 2008 EPA ratings: http://www.fueleconomy.gov
