Sirius XM updates are normal and yes, very frequent especially the last year or so. But that comes from Sirius not Ford. Irritating but normal. -

I thought Edge and MKX were moving to CD6 but insiders say no so we’ll have to wait and see. Either way it would seem to be cheaper and easier to build one version of the engine instead of two. -

Unfortunately I think you’re right and dual injection was only done for the F150s. I could see why they wouldn’t bother with a transverse 3.5L version - I think that engine is dead when they kill Taurus, Flex and MKT. It won’t be used in the new Explorer/Aviator and all the other transverse applications appear to be limited to 2.7LEB as the top engine. Not sure why they wouldn’t do it on the Edge/MKX though. Probably just a resource/timing issue and it will get it in the next year or two. -

That’s true unless the engine also has port fuel injection in addition to the direct injection which I believe applies to the 2.7LEB in the Edge Sport and the 3.5LEB in other vehicles as of 2018. -

Being RWD with the 10 speed auto it can take full advantage of the 400 lb/ft or torque with no torque management required. Even with the extra weight it should be faster.

All true about the new Explorer ST - 3.0L ecoboost 400/400. Will probably be more than 2K above the Edge ST though and won’t show up until next summer. The 10 speed auto is great - I have it in my F150 3.5LEB. Explorer ST should be a rocket although I don’t expect it to get better mpg than the Edge - probably about the same. I’m getting 21 mpg in mixed driving with my F150. Got 25 on the highway this morning at 70 mph.

Everyone should have a battery jump starter at home and in the vehicle if you’re experiencing battery problems. That eliminates the need to move the vehicle to jump start it. The new lithium ion models are great and can also power electronic devices. Granted it won’t help if you’re away from home and have an unexpected complete failure but those seem to be rare.

You solve the information gap by reading the owner’s manual when you get the vehicle, not just when you have a problem. It has all the info on what to do in emergencies such as using the key to open the door and manually putting it in neutral and how to start the vehicle with a dead fob.

No problems with mine on the F150 but only have 7500 miles. I prefer Michelins generally speaking.

Ford has been using Hankook tires for a few years now. My F150 has them.

It’s 100% speculative but I’m having a hard time coming up with a scenario where 3 completely different seals are all damaged at the same time. It is possible though.

Forscan is software that allows you to "hack" your vehicle computer and turn on or off certain features or adjust parameters. Think of it like the registry editor in Windoze. That's the only way to change how the power points function.

But manufacturers have to worry about emissions, CAFE (fuel economy), everyday driveability and durability (warranty). An aftermarket tuner doesn't. Given the lackluster sales on the Focus RS I don't think Ford is interested in an Edge RS which would have even less appeal. It looks like the ST badge will be used instead of the Sport badge on all Ford models and they'll be introduced at the same time as the base models. As opposed to what Ford Performance used to do which is take the production model and spend a couple of years tuning it. Not to say they're mailing it in but I don't think they're going to be spending as much time tuning the new ST models as they used to. But there will be a lot more of them (Edge, Escape, Explorer for sure). My point was they'll have a lot more to work with on the Explorer ST being RWD based - they can share Mustang and truck drivetrains.

I think you’re expecting too much out of a basic transverse engine platform. It would be easier to make a high performance crossover off the Explorer/Aviator CD6 longitudinal platform but word is the new Edge will be on the FWD C2 platform instead. Maybe the Explorer ST will give you the performance you’re looking for. I think Edge Sport/ST is pretty close to the max you’re going to get out of the platform.

Nick - it’s not about assisting sensitivity levels. It’s about maintaining a forum where everyone wants to participate without having to defend themselves. You can easily state your opinions without being judgemental about others.
