  1. I'm sure a properly installed class III hitch would get you to 3500 lbs but I would add a tranny cooler for sure. The tranny would be the weak link towing something that heavy. You should also make sure there is no difference in the rear axle ratio with and without the towing package. Probably not.
  2. No video for Sync - yet. But the Sync software is easily upgraded via a USB memory stick downloaded on your computer so I think video and a software based Navigation program are probably likely future upgrades. I don't think you'd have any problems with aftermarket amps. Crutchfield would be a good resource to check what's required.
  3. You should go into the setup menu with the vehicle running and in park and change it. Then go back in and check it. If it won't let you turn it off or it comes back on tell the dealer it's not working. Could be a bug.
  4. Ford does that a lot. G2 is Vivid Red on the Lincoln MKX but Redfire on the Ford Edge. If it's the same paint code then it should be exactly the same color.
  5. According to kbb.com the paint code for the Explorer Limited and F150 Lariat White Sand Tri-Coat is PV. Don't know if it will be the same for the Edge.
  6. No, but if he says he's giving you that price then he should show you the invoice and all of the A/Z/X/D plan prices are right there on the invoice.
  7. Don't believe that. Even if you could get them to match the X plan price they'll still charge you doc fees, etc. You're only going to do better than X plan out the door if the dealer wants to get rid of a car really, really badly.
  8. There may have been hidden dealer incentives that you were not aware of. Did they add a "documentation fee" - that's usually another $400 in profit. It is possible to get a deal like that but only if they're trying to get rid of inventory.
  9. That's hard to believe unless the dealer is adding additional fees or keeping rebates. A plan is actually below dealer cost so without the A/Z plan commission check from Ford the dealer is actually losing money.
  10. One thing to keep in mind - if Mama ain't happy - nobody's happy!
  11. That's why you need to be careful. He might just give you the D plan price but then add on doc fees and/or keep rebates. I didn't think dealership employees could give out D plan pins to non family members.
  12. Buy a set of cheap 17" wheels and the same size 17" tires that come standard on the Edge. The outside diameter should be the same and that's what matters. There should be more options in that size. You could probably even drop to a 16" wheel with larger tires as long as the diameter and bolt pattern are the same. 16" Fusion wheels might work. The advantage is you don't have to mount/re-mount them twice a year - just swap them out when you need them and your 18" wheels will be protected longer.
  13. D plan is for dealership employees and I think it's the same as A plan or very close. You won't beat it that's for sure.
  14. You can order without the PIN assuming the dealer agrees to accept it. You only need the PIN at the time of delivery. However, if you wait until delivery you might not be able to get the PIN so you should have a backup price without the PIN. You can get a PIN now and order the vehicle - just be sure to let your PIN provider know that you've ordered and keep in touch weekly so they don't think you've abandoned the PIN and cancel it. There are PINs available - some people get them and don't say anything. There are posts where folks have said they have PINs available - try PMing them first. And be specific about what you want to buy and when.
  15. You guys aren't paying attention. What you are doing is waiting until the reverse sensor activates, then turning it off. This only works while the vehicle is running and resets once you turn it off. You need to go into the SETUP menu and turn it off there, per the owner's manual instructions. This will turn it off permanently. RTFM
  16. RTFM. Page 104 of the owner's manual: Reverse Sensing System (Park assist) (if equipped) This feature sounds a warning tone to warn the driver of obstacles near the rear bumper, and functions only when R (Reverse) gear is selected. 1. Select this function from the SETUP menu to disable the reverse sensing system feature. 2. Press the RESET control to turn the rear park assist OFF. When R (Reverse) gear is selected, PARK ASSIST OFF will be displayed.
  17. Is "break pedal" a freudian slip? Certainly sounds like your brake pedal is broken. The key is to figure out how to reproduce it on demand or wait until it's doing it and go straight to the dealer and have them check it.
  18. No, you can't use your son's X plan PINs. Those are done through the Ford Partner program and only valid for employees of the partner company and their immediate family. You can go to the Blue Oval News forums and request a X plan pin from a Ford employee under their Friends and Family program. They just gave all the employees 4 more pins for the year so you might be able to get one. The PIN is created with your personal information and the dealer just has to check your ID to make sure it matches the one on the PIN in the database. You need to buy a vehicle or order one within 30 days of requesting the PIN, otherwise the PIN could be cancelled and reissued to someone else. This is to prevent people from getting PINs but never using them. http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?
  19. 100% false. Read the owner's manual.
  20. No. According to the owner's manual (I haven't driven one) one touch opens the front part to the "comfort" position and another touch opens it all the way. Same for closing but in reverse. You don't have to hold the button unless you want to stop it in between. The owner's manuals are online at https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owne...als/default.asp
  21. It is one touch open and close - it just has 2 positions.
  22. howstuffworks.com has great explanations on torque converters and every other part of a vehicle. Fascinating stuff!
  23. The OP was talking about it rolling backwards in drive, not while parked. This is a function of the automatic tranny and the torque converter. Any automatic will roll backwards in drive given enough force. There is no mechanical connection between the engine and transmission when stopped - it's just fluid between the 2 halves of the torque converter. Some converters have a higher stall speed than others and it will also vary according to the engine torque at idle. In other words it's perfectly normal, just different than you're used to.
