I already apologized because I misread your original post and didn't realize that you didn't have the vehicle yet. I will also apologize for being a little too caustic. Just one of those days I guess. I will not apologize for telling people to RTFM when they ask a question that is easily answered by reading their owner's manual. To me it's analogous to having a dictionary on your desk and then asking someone else how to spell a word.
-
What did you drive for comparison that had the Aisin tranny?
-
Ok, let me rephrase that. You can download the owner's manuals now - even if you don't own one. https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owne...als/default.asp And yes, I am very acerbic to people who ask questions because they're too lazy or too ignorant to RTFM. However, in this case I overlooked the part about the OP not owning one yet so for that I apologize.
-
So what's the excuse for not opening the owner's manual?
-
Since all vehicles have at least a 1 year warranty, the time limit for 1 and 2 is 1 year from delivery. The time limit only applies to 1 and 2, so it's 4 or more attempts to repair or a cumulative total of 30 or more calendar days in the shop during the first year of ownership. Or 10 or more attempts to repair regardless of the timeframe. At least that's my non-attorney interpretation (which makes sense).

There's no reason for Ford to switch back to the Aisin unit. They're already using the new joint venture 6F in the Edge/MKX while the MKZ still uses the Aisin unit. The 6F should be used at least for the base 3.7L or at least until the Getrag powershifts arrive.

There is also a very good explanation on the first few pages of the owner's manual. RTFM!
-
There's really no way to tell. It depends on the engine tuning, transmission and rear end gearing, etc.

I'm going to start hiding all my valuables in the owner's manual. Nobody EVER looks in there.

Day Time Running Lights

The details are in post #2. That's all they need to know. -
Don't forget tire pressure. Your tire pressure will drop with the temperatures if you don't reset it and that will hurt fuel mileage.
-
First, it can't be calibrated. Second - you just measure it yourself the old-fashioned way and compare it: Fill up, note the mileage and reset the MPG on the computer. Next fill up, note the mileage, gallons used on the pump and the MPG reading on the computer. Subtract the new mileage from the old mileage and divide by the number of gallons used in the second fill up (fill up the same way both times). Compare that to the computer reading. Everyone that I've seen do this says the computer is within 0.5 mpg either way - not enough to worry about IMO.

You can't calculate a monthly payment without knowing the acquisition cost. Without X plan you're probably getting $500 over invoice. No, you can't negotiate the residual. This is what they think the vehicle will be worth after the lease. You can do better by lowering the acquisition cost of the vehicle itself, or by getting a cheaper model or by lowering the annual mileage allotment (but if you go over it gets expensive). If this is a Ford lease then you probably can't negotiate anything other than the purchase price.
-
If your currently leasing a Ford check with the dealer - they may agree to terminate the lease early to get you into a new one now. I would expect the rebates to be the same as they are now for the 08s unless December turns out to be a horrible month.

I think we'll see some of the MKS features on the 09 MKX like adaptive HIDs, back up camera, keyless go, integrated LED keypad, selectshift, etc. There is a chance it could get the new Lincoln split grille and also the new style interior. Or they could wait until the 2010 model (3 years). Hard to say. I think we'll know either after the Detroit Auto Show in January or at least by the New York show in April.

First LONG road trip! Hard drivers seat!
akirby replied to ixlar8's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
If you're not used to firmer seats, they may seem uncomfortable at first but your body should adjust to them and soon they'll be more comfortable (just like a firmer mattress - you get better support). It is possible they just don't fit your body but I'd give it a few weeks for adjustment first. -

Not sure if they're all really prewired - I've seen it both ways. But I think it's normally mounted in the right rear side panel near the back hatch.

HELP WITH THE TRAC CONTROL BUTTON
akirby replied to EDGEHOG's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Wrong. It doesn't just remove power - it does something you can't do: it applies the brakes to ONE spinning wheel which in turn sends power to the other wheel. e.g. if you drop one wheel off into some mud or ice that one wheel will spin and all the torque will be directed to it (without TC). With TC the brake would be applied, shifting the torque to the other wheel allowing you to move again. -
Xenon simply refers to the gas used in the bulbs. Regular HIDs are only used for the low beams since they're on all the time. HIDs can't be switched on and off quickly so they're not suitable for high beams. Some mfrs have Bi-Xenon headlamps where it's one HID bulb with a reflector that gets moved back and forth to switch from low to high beams.

How could you forget the $5K trade-in? That explains the confusion.
-
Are you sure that's "out the door"? Out the door prices include sales tax which would make your actual vehicle price around $31k - again, way too low for X plan even with the $500 rebate.
