If your point was that it was gathering data for other uses then I already said that it probably was - did you miss that? Your point was the verification piece didn't make sense and I still say it makes perfect sense to anyone who understands how software works, even if right now there is only one potential update. Doesn't it make sense to put the tool out there now so that it's there when needed rather than wait until there are 2 or 3 updates?

Logic? The only logic you need is that without this tool the syncmyride website is simply guessing about which version you have installed. With this tool there is no more guessing and as long as the customer executes it according to directions the website will be 100% correct 100% of the time. If that's not logical then I give up. Just admit that you don't understand it and move on.

Be aware that the factory 5W-20 is a synthetic blend, not regular oil.

Just take it from two professional software developers that this is a good idea and the right way to do it. I'm tired of explaining the same thing to you over and over. If you don't like something then just say that and be done with it.

How to remove Armour All protectant
akirby replied to paulmon's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Just be glad they didn't put it on the tire treads! Some idiot did that in a Lexus IS250 and tried to blame everyone else but himself for wrecking his car - IN THE RAIN! -
Ditto. Why change it?

Changing stock 17" wheels to 18"

Actually you're filling up with mostly N, not O, regardless of where you go. Air is 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen so pure Nitrogen isn't gaining you very much. Racers use it because even 1/4 lb of pressure makes a difference in handling. The biggest benefit of pure Nitrogen isn't the smaller pressure change, it's the fact that it's drier so you have less moisture inside the tire which helps resist rust long term. Might also help with the new pressure sensors. -
Geez, Lex, try to pay attention. Just because you DOWNLOADED an update doesn't mean you INSTALLED it. You could have downloaded version 1.1 but never installed it. Now the sync website thinks you have 1.1 but you have 1.0. The next time you download an update you'll get the wrong version. This is the only way for Sync to VERIFY that you've actually installed that version.

Actually it's BIG A$$ Moon Roof - a term coined by the engineers during development.

Me, too! But having had both I can honestly say that I don't miss the mute button at all. In fact I think it was a smart move that frees up another button.

Our first house was in Woodstock, near Sixes Road and 575.

Changing stock 17" wheels to 18"

Nothing. Just make sure the tires have the same diameter as the OEM tires, or as close as you can get (5% or less should be ok). -
Seriously - there isn't much difference between pushing a mute button and pushing and holding the volume down for a split second. Try it.

I didn't realize this was just the verification piece - I thought it was part of the update process. There probably is more being confirmed than just the version number as you suspected. But without this verification the website can only guess as to which version you have installed. With this there is no guesswork. I suspect you'll be asked to do the same thing after installing an update (put the flash drive back in the computer for verification).

Love Athens. Graduated in 86 - my sister still lives there. My 2 favorite teams are UGA and whoever plays Florida. And you spelled it wrong - it's Go Dawgs!
-
It knows your previous version, but it doesn't know whether or not you successfully installed the new version until you plug it back in to the computer. Just because you downloaded the update doesn't mean it got applied or was successful. There is no other way for it to confirm that.

I thought the same thing with my Fusion. But once I realized that pushing and holding the volume down button effectively mutes the sound within a second or so I realized that you don't need a separate mute button. It works well once you get used to it.

Interestingly my 2000 Lincoln LS had a software strategy that stored the previous temp when the car was turned off and kept that temp until the car reached at least 20 mph. If the car is only off a short time then chances are the previous temp is very close. If it's off overnight or all day then it may not be accurate, but at least it never showed 106 degrees when the ambient temp was 70.
-
The temp sensor on my LS was in the front grille so that would be my guess - but it's just a guess.

The fuse box should have both switched and unswitched circuits. rjkasprzak - how were you testing them? -
Just to be clear here - these are 2 different promotions: conquest cash does not require a coupon but may only be available in certain areas. The coupon is an extra discount only available to those who received a coupon in the mail.

The kbb pricing is accurate for the items listed and the dealer is giving you the correct invoice price. There are at least 2 things that are on the actual invoice that aren't listed in kbb, edmunds or any other place: Advertising and Fuel. The fuel charge is just enough gas to get it on and off the delivery truck and it's usually just a few bucks, but it does fluctuate with gas prices. The other is a fee paid to local dealer associations to help with local advertising. It also fluctuates by vehicle and by location - it's not a fixed charge on all vehicles. It averages around $400 from what I've seen. Because of the variability of these charges they can't be accurately represented by kbb or edmunds or anyone else. So just add $400 or $450 to the kbb pricing and you'll be very close.

The operation of the transmission is explained in detail in the owner's manual. There is no manual shift capability if that's what you're asking but there are a couple of ways to keep the tranny in a lower gear.
