  1. Paint defects are definitely covered by the warranty, as long as its not external damage. The question then becomes how badly do you want it fixed - sometimes the repair can be worse than the original problem.
  2. It should not be coming on with a quarter tank left unless you're only getting 200 miles to a tankful. Something is wrong - have the dealer check it. It should come on with 50 miles to empty. Try resetting the mpg calculator. As for condensation, the advice you received was backwards. Condensation occurs when there is a lot of air in the tank because of low fuel. Keeping the tank full reduces the amount of air and therefore the amount of water that can condense. It's always better to have a full tank than an almost empty tank.
  3. Rando said he waits 4 days to fill up after the warning. I was talking about filling up that day or the next day rather than putting up with the warning for 4 days. Besides, it's never a good idea to have an almost empty tank.
  4. Aaarrggghhh!!!! And I was looking right at the web page when I typed it. Did someone else have a 7/70K powertrain warranty at some point? Dodge?
  5. It shows up with 50 miles to empty - why not just fill up then? You're only talking about a couple of gallons difference.
  6. Close. Ford B2B 3/36K PT 5/60K Lincoln B2B 4/50K PT 7/70K
  7. Neat technology, but seriously........ If you adjust the mirrors correctly and simply peek over your shoulder before changing lanes, you don't have a blind spot.
  8. Or you could just stop turning on the lights in the daytime. It really doesn't help, despite popular opinion to the contrary.
  9. That's not a factory thing - it's a dealer add-on that, as you say, you already paid for. In this case they simply built-in up to 8 oil changes (based on the mileage) - less if you drive less than 12K per year. They could have just as easily built-in 3 oil changes at 7500 miles, but then they wouldn't have made as much money.
  10. My contract clearly stated "no penalty for prepayment" and there was no minimum length specified. I paid mine off within 2 months with absolutely no issues - no questions, no warnings, no penalties, etc. If there is any such limitation it will be in the finance contract itself. It may be that the dealership doesn't get any spiff money from Ford Credit if it's paid off early - so they may try to make you keep it for 3 or 6 months - but that wasn't a Ford Credit requirement (at least in my contract).
  11. There is no prepayment penalty with Ford Credit loans. I paid mine off after 45 days and refinanced with my CU (I was told I had to wait 3 months but there is nothing in writing and nobody complained). I don't think the rebate itself has any type of minimum loan amount but I'm sure Ford credit has a limit on what they're willing to loan. Just call the dealer.
  12. I test drove one a few days ago and it was fine. Haven't driven the 18's yet for comparison.
  13. In previous Ford vehicles the A/C was always on until the temp reached the 30's. It was done to dehumidify the air. It must not affect CAFE very much.
  14. Of course it's something they should have checked, but it doesn't sound like your current dealer has a clue. I'd take it to another dealer and explain that the first one wasn't able to fix it. It's worth a shot.
  15. They could do it either way, depending on what you ask for and whether they have a flatbed or extra drivers available.
  16. Just turn the autolamps off before you start your daily commute, then turn it back on when you're done.
  17. The message center mpg has consistently proven to be accurate within 1 mpg or less. It knows how far you've driven from the odometer and it knows how much fuel it's used since the fuel injectors are computer controlled. It's a simple calculation.
  18. If they're offering that price without X plan then they are adding $$$ somewhere else. With X plan you can only be charged $75 doc fee - without X it's at least $300 and sometimes as much as $700 plus they can charge other fees or force you to take dealer accessories you don't want at outrageous prices. Call the second dealer and get an "out the door" price as if you were paying cash, no trade-in and compare that to the out the door price on X plan. I can almost guarantee the X plan price will be cheaper.
  19. As long as you're in full auto mode (and the auto mode led is on) then the A/C should come on automatically as needed. Try hitting Auto just to be sure, then set the temp and check the air temp coming out of the vents after a minute or so. If the air isn't cold then it sounds like a problem. It's entirely possible that the A/C is on even though the light isn't lit. That's how my 2000 Lincoln LS worked (they reprogrammed it later due to driver complaints).
  20. Also be aware that in some cases you can get additional rebates with X plan not offered to the public. This is usually in conjunction with dealer cash (Ford doesn't want the dealer to keep any factory to dealer incentives on plan sales - they already get a spiff check on each sale from Ford). But you always get at least the same public incentives as everyone else.
  21. Yes - 2 different things. Rollback while in Drive on a hill is supposedly fixed (or improved) by the reflash. This complaint is that after you put the vehicle in park it rolls more than normal.
  22. Sounds like you need a better service department, or at least someone with better troubleshooting skills.
  23. I don't know how much my car rolls because I always use the parking brake. It's never a good idea to let the transmission hold the car by itself on an incline.
