My neighbor wants to sell me his car. He paid $30,000 for it last month. I offered him $6,000 for it. Does that mean his car depreciated 80% in one month? Of course not.

Should I purchase a new or used MKX?
akirby replied to longhorn's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Ahhh.....another Canadian difference. In the U.S. Lincoln offered 3 yrs free maintenance from 2001-2003, then cut it back to 1 year. -
What bbf2530 said. And I'll add that while my post was a tad sarcastic, it was also a request for you to simply TELL us what the problem was so we could TRY to help you, rather than just saying the video wouldn't download. But since you'd rather complain and whine than help yourself - you're on your own.

I fully understand compression and how it can be changed program to program. And I understand the other benefits of satellite radio. I was just curious whether people were foregoing quality for the other features or if they thought it sounded just as good as FM.
-
Just picked ours up Saturday and I have to say I'm disappointed with the sound quality so far. Regular FM seems so much better. Am I listening to the wrong channels? Which channel do you guys think sounds as good or better than regular FM?

I'm in the process of purchasing an Edge Limited FWD. I'm getting $2,000 plus $750 sun-n-sound plus $750 private cash (from the personalized Edge brochure request) for a total of $3500 on top of X plan pricing. And to top it off I'm getting 4.75% from my credit union for a 60 month loan. Sweet!

Enabling the Nav system to work while moving
akirby replied to skimaniaz's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
A - just because you can multi-task doesn't mean the average person can. And I'm not saying you can, either, just pointing out that nobody is immune to being distracted while driving. B - there is absolutely no other reason for Ford to do this EXCEPT to avoid potential liability in the event of an accident. They're not the only one - most other mfrs do the same thing, for the same reason. Why is a portable GPS different? Because it's not MADE to be used in a moving vehicle (necessarily). Personally, I feel that having a warning on the startup screen that says not to operate the nav system manually while driving would be enough. Unfortunately, many juries do not and the vehicle mfrs stand to lose millions in a lawsuit. For reference, a bunch of underage, drunk teenagers ran off the road in an Explorer without wearing seatbelts and flipped it. One of the front seat occupants (don't remember if it was the driver or not) was thrown through the door glass (ejected) and died. His family sued Ford on the basis that had Ford used laminated glass in the doors instead of safety glass, the occupant would not have been ejected. Never mind that every mfr in the U.S. used safety glass at the time (and probably still do). Never mind that they were drunk, underaged, not wearing seatbelts and ran off the road. The jury gave the family a multi-million dollar settlement. I don't remember if it was overturned or not. That's why we have these ridiculous rules and warnings on products and restrictions on what you can do or not do. -

I didn't say you shouldn't do it, I was simply pointing out that it's a minor inconvenience with an easy workaround for 99% of drivers. And if you think it's safe for the driver to enter an address while driving then please let me know where you live so I can avoid driving in that area. Now having the passenger do it is entirely different but right now there's no way to tell the difference. The ultimate solution is probably voice recognition which is either already available or coming soon on some vehicles. -
But it's available and comes with the Premium package. The point was to identify what you HAD to give up by going with a SEL vs. a Limited.

What's a parking break? -
I don't think the premium seating and seating flexibility package can be had together on the SEL - it's one or the other. I think that's the only equipment differences. I think there are some cosmetic differences.

Have you thought about using words? Most of us can read.
-
You need to drive if for awhile after resetting it. If you reset it sitting in the gas station, then pulled out of course it's going to read really low. It's showing you the average mpg since it was reset.
-
Are you sure it's not rail dust? That's common and can be removed with a clay bar.
-
How did you drive it after resetting it? And for how many miles? If you reset it and then sat in stop-n-go traffic that's understandable. If you were doing 60 for 30 minutes then that's way low.

It was bound to happen sooner or later......

Or you could just put in your destinations before you leave. Or pull over and stop. Seriously - how often do you need to put in a new destination while you're moving? -
