  1. It's impossible for Ford to be guilty of false advertising. The EPA does the test and Ford is required by law to display the EPA test results. IF you have a faulty vehicle, it's just your vehicle which again doesn't constitute a class action lawsuit. Follow the steps I gave you in the other post to see if it's really a fault or if it's just your driving style. Doesn't matter what you used to get in other vehicles. And change your air filter! Just because you have "clean air" doesn't mean the air filter doesn't get clogged.
  2. Make sure the tires are inflated to at least 35 psi and change the air filter. Check for obstructions in the air inlet. Make sure the shifter is always in D and the O/D cancel is not selected. Use the display to reset both your avg mpg and avg mph, then drive your normal route. Report the avg mpg and avg mph at the end of the test run. It would also help if you could reset and check the mpg on a flat stretch of highway at 65 mph for at least 3-5 miles. The only way to prove to the dealership that something is wrong (if something is wrong) is to have someone from the dealership drive your vehicle and you follow in another Edge over a test loop, resetting the mpg at the beginning and comparing them at the end. They should be almost identical. If there is a big difference then that would prove something is wrong. If not then it's simply your driving style and route. The EPA numbers have NEVER been indicative of the mileage you should EXPECT on a vehicle unless you drive the exact same route as the EPA test. And 99.9% of the time the reason for poor mileage is the driver's right foot or driving conditions. I can get anywhere from 15-24 mpg in my Fusion on my daily commute depending on how many traffic lights I catch green and how much stop-n-go I encounter.
  3. You missed my point. You keep calling them "rims". They're not "rims", they're wheels.
  4. It's a known problem, but this wasn't done to be cheap. Real chrome wheels are heavy and subject to pitting over time. The chrome clad wheels are lighter and supposed to last longer. This is the first wheel of its kind so naturally there are initial problems. I'm sure they're working on the problem and will make new wheels available as soon as possible. In the meantime let the dealer replace them as often as necessary.

  6. That is probably correct - my understanding is family plan is A plan and that's approximately 4% less than X plan. The only difference would be if there were additional X plan rebates available and the documentation fee (limited to $75 on X plan, probably $300-$400 on the Family Plan pricing).

You never know with juries, but a) the driver was on the side of the road so any accident would have been caused by another driver failing to maintain their lane and the driver was not forced to stop in the first place. So I don't see that one having a chance. No different than a car having a mechanical breakdown and the same thing happening - is the mfr liable for an accident? Don't think so.
  9. That feature is useful if you've left the highway far off the shoulder or in trees/bushes or gone down an embankment. There are lots of stories of people trapped in wrecked vehicles near a busy highway for days because they could not be seen. Rare, but it happens. Besides - what can it possibly hurt? Same as 2008 - that's when the new EPA test procedures were implemented.

  12. I understand doing something like that once in a while - I've sent a few text messages while driving myself. I just don't like advocating doing something like that constantly. Too many people don't pay attention to the road anyway. Just because there are other distractions doesn't mean we need to add more or make it worse.
  13. We've had several 95 degree days in Atlanta with no problems. When the outside air is 90 or above you should definitely use recirculate. We've never had to keep the fans on high more than 5 or 10 minutes even on the hottest days.
  14. Did you ask the dealer about a loaner? Most will offer one during the first 12 months. At least mine does.
  15. Yes, it's a separate piece that's added on but it's definitely not a hubcap (it's not removable). It was done this way to keep the wheel lighter (real chrome clad wheels are HEAVY) and also to avoid the inevitable pitting of real chrome wheels. This is the first application of this type of wheel and there are some problems but they're all covered under the warranty.
  16. I reset mine a lot just for comparison purposes. You should at least reset it with each fillup.
  17. Trading a $30K car for a $20K car is NOT "even steven". And if you were really driving enough to spend $1500 on gas every month you wouldn't have time to post here. At 15 mpg and $5/gallon that's almost 5000 miles per month or 60K miles per year. And you think I'm cheating on my mileage calculations?
  18. If you're getting less than the EPA estimates now then you'll get less than the EPA estimates on anything you buy. And anyone who owns a duratec V6 engine can tell you it does get better FE after 3k-5k miles - there is no question about that. Selling a car after 6 months is stupid if your goal is to save money. Even if you saved $30/week in fuel it would take you 6.5 years to make up for a $10K depreciation loss.
  19. I think it used to be part of the towing packages but they've started putting them on all vehicles to extend transmission life.
  20. That's really stupid - I have no explanation why it would work that way on the 07s. Even my 2003 Aviator worked like the 08s.
  21. All Edges have tranny coolers - the towing package adds an oil cooler.
  22. I just verified this again. When I put my 08 Edge in reverse, the message center displays Rear Park Aid followed by off indicating the system is on and it does beep. If I hit the reset button it changes to "on " indicating the system is off and it stays that way until I turn the vehicle off. So you should only have to hit reset once when you first put it in reverse. It's possible the 07s are different, but what happens when you put it in reverse and then hit the reset button - does the display change from off to on?
