I don't think US driver's tests even mention the parking brake. What we call Driver's Education here is an absolute joke. We need actual driver TRAINING - more like Germany. When I got my license in rural south GA back in 1979 I think we just drove about 500 yards from the state patrol office to the local airport, drove around the airport and back to the station.

Must be a Canadian thing.

It's not really redundant. The parking pawl is not intended to hold the vehicle on a hill - it puts too much stress on the pawl and they can break.
-
About the same number who actually read their owners manual (in other words - not many). I used to use mine all the time - now I only use it when parked on an incline.

My guess would be something is loose and getting caught in the wind. Did you look under the rear? You could try using a leaf blower to simulate wind at speed.

Different Oil Filter/Same Manufacturer?
akirby replied to chefduane's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
My point is you don’t really know how well it performed unless your engine blew up or you tore down the engine to check for wear. Or at least done some extensive filter testing. -
I stand corrected. If they’re inside projectors then they should move if they’re adaptive just like the adaptive HIDs. Very strange that some do and some don’t.

What does “worked well for me in the past” really mean? My engine didn’t blow up? The 1” nut would be convenient in some cases. -
All this angst over 3 letters (sPORt).

Be a good sport and take one of yours out and cut it open so we can settle this once and for all!

There are two kinds of adaptive headlamps. Adaptive HIDs are the ones that swivel on startup. I have them on my 2016 MKX. They use projectors. On the Edge all lights are LED. Bi-LED high/low beam are standard. Titanium 301a and ST 401a supposedly get Adaptive LEDs according to the order guide. As far as I know, none of the Ford LED headlamps use projectors. For the adaptive LEDs they turn LEDs on and off to provide light to the left or right when turning. However, since there is no projector to swivel at startup it's difficult to tell if it actually works or not. This is similar to what Audi does but a much much simpler version only providing extra illumination to the right or left when turning. Ford has a more sophisticated setup in Europe using movable spotlights instead of fog lights but I think those are still illegal in the US (as is Audi's full matrix system).

Why would you take a chance on a 3rd party oil filter when the motorcraft filter works just fine? It's not like you're getting better performance. -
Ford's adaptive LEDs work like the Audi version. There is no reason to move the LED assemblies. What isn't 100% clear is whether Ford's adaptive LEDs are truly adaptive or not (in North America). Since they don't move it's hard to tell for sure.

Premium simply means more stuff at a higher cost and it's all relative. Nautilus is a Premium over Edge. Edge Titanium is a premium over a base Edge. Has nothing to do with whether it's worth the added cost or not - that's a personal opinion.
-
This. Ford has a Vignale trim in Europe that includes a lot of the Lincoln only features because they don't sell Lincolns in Europe. Ford has also gone into cost cutting mode with this Edge/Nautilus refresh.

I'm still waiting to see this magical document that says what something has to do to be called a ST. There's never been a crossover ST so comparing it to a Fiesta or Focus ST is silly. Ford seems to be expanding their ST program and offering ST versions of most vehicles at the same time the vehicles launch. Essentially they're replacing Sport with ST and expanding the number of vehicles. It just means it's a higher performance option compared to the base vehicle. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything beyond the current ST would be a RS and we don't have RS version of Edge or Explorer yet.
-
But that's the point - to get better performance or more luxury or better service you have to spend a lot more money. Edge ST and most of Ford's other performance models are somewhat unique either offering more performance than the mass market competition (Raptor vs GM/RAM/Toyota e.g.) and lower pricing than the luxury models.

Just so you guys know I have nothing whatsoever to do with the website organization, sub forums or other websites.

The point was you can get a factory turbocharged V6 already engineered rather than trying to make your own.

Just buy a 2015 Sport and a tuner and be done with it.

And actually the Macan (not Mecan) GTS has a $82K MSRP when comparably equipped. And that's before adding any Porsche design crap that would push it closer to $90K. I sure hope it's a bit faster than a $50K edge.
-
I thought the Edge was more Cayenne sized and Macan was more Escape/MKC sized.
-
Not odd at all. There is plenty of room to exhaust the hot air from the seat bottom but not from the upper part of the seat back.

I wondered if they actually removed the TED or just changed the name but according to that thread they removed the TEDs.
