It's normal. The transmission has a parking pawl that engages when you put the transmission in park. This keeps the drivetrain from moving. It's like putting a stick into a bicycle wheel to keep it from moving. When you park on a hill and don't use the parking brake, the drivetrain pinches the parking pawl and when you shift out of park it can make a noise and can be hard to shift. When you park on a hill, before you put the tranny in park fully engage the parking brake, then shift into park. This will take the load off the parking pawl and should eliminate the noise

I didn't mean to imply that you don't have a problem or that you shouldn't pursue your options. I just meant that you have a single problem that, once fixed, probably won't reoccur. As opposed to a real "lemon" where you have multiple problems that are likely to keep reoccuring. I'd be a little more patient getting a single problem fixed than I would for a true multi-problem "lemon'.

I would also suggest giving Ford one last chance to fix the problem - at another dealer! In most cases it's simply a case of the technician either making the wrong diagnosis or not having the right equipment. If they replaced the exact same part twice within a week that's usually a sign of poor troubleshooting. The chances of the same part failing twice within a week are astronomical. That usually means the original diagnosis was wrong. Talk to the service mgr and if necessary try another dealer. You don't have a lemon - just a hard to fix problem.

That's what a lot of folks say about the Flex but it's selling very well now and gaining momentum. It's a love it or hate it thing - as long as there are enough folks who love it then it's a win for Ford.

No need to remove your posts. I told you how to check to see if it could be changed. We just didn't understand the big problem - you make it sound like the autolock programming was putting your wife in danger. If she wants the doors locked immediately just hit the button - or wait until you hit 12 mph. At worst it's a minor inconvenience - not a safety hazard.

Yep. And on Edmunds. And probably a few other forums..... Never did answer the question about why his wife never drives faster than 12 mph.

As I've already said on multiple forums - it MIGHT be possible by the dealer using the diagnostic tool but only if that's an option in the module that controls it. Ask the dealer to hook it up to the computer and check it if it bothers you that much.

They offer kits that include clearcoat, applicators, sandpaper, etc. and they offer larger quantities of paint including aerosol cans. The touch up paint itself (color) is the same.

Look for the Burning Smell? thread for more detail than you want to know. Yes, it's a known problem. Ford has provided a fix that so far seems to be working. It is a complicated procedure for the repair tech so make sure you have a good service dept.

Yes - proven by years of warranty visits. Apparently many people complained about fluctuations in a normal oil pressure gauge so Ford started using a gauge that was really just an analog idiot light - it only showed normal pressure or no pressure depending on a preset threshold. So even though you thought your Ford had an oil pressure gauge it did not. It's been that way for at least 10 years - maybe more.

This won't cover up an existing scratch, but what about the clear front end protector made by 3M? That would adhere to whichever part of the bumper you want to protect.

Could also be a bad audio cable.

If you're getting FE less than the EPA estimate, then your driving style and route are simply different from the EPAs. You'd most likely get the same result from any similar vehicle. Ford doesn't control the EPA tests.

What's your definition of MAX pressure?

The owner's manual has details on using L mode and deactivating overdrive when towing.

Never ask that question AFTER you bought it! You bought it so you must be happy with it so from that standpoint I'd say yes, you got a good deal and leave it at that. And be sure to ask for help before you buy the next one.

It wouldn't be hard to rewire the power to the visor through a switched source. Just tell Lex it can't be done and he'll work day and night to figure it out for you. He lives for mods.

To my surprise the 20" Pirellis are relatively cheap although I haven't checked them lately. Not weird at all. If you have the external temp displayed and press the button to change the hvac temp setting it will display the internal temp setting while you change it. Once you're finished it goes back to displaying the external temp. You don't really need to know what it's set to unless you're changing it. Your radio doesn't display the volume level unless you're changing it. Same concept.

It's powered from a constant power source - same as the vanity mirror so yes, if they break in they can open the garage door. No different than if you had a regular garage door opener in the car.
