  1. In the U.S. they change the gasoline blends in the winter which also contributes to the winter mileage drop.
  2. Ford head units do not have RCA outputs. Crutchfield or custom stereo shops will have wiring diagrams and adapters available to do what you want.
  3. If that were the case they'd be doing it everywhere. And this is the only Ford vehicle that I've heard of in the last few years to have this problem on more than one individual vehicle. There is some recurring problem with the paint sprayers at the Oakville plant. No more, no less.
  4. So you think it's far more likely that Ford is risking all of their recent quality gains just to save a few pennies per paint job as opposed to a much simpler explanation of material or equipment malfunction? Especially since we don't see these paint problems on other vehicles from other plants? Mmmm-kay........
  5. I doubt it - there just isn't enough room. What's wrong with the OEM spare?
  6. Isn't it also possible the paint robot simply had a problem?
  7. I would think you'd want winter wheels just to protect the 22's. And if you're doing new wheels you might as well do winter tires so you don't have to unmount/remount the tires twice a year. You can do 17" or 18" wheels and snow tires (unless the 22's come with bigger brake calipers or rotors - then you might have an issue) as long as you maintain the same overall tire diameter. This makes winter tires and wheels a lot cheaper with more options.
  8. If you redo the keyfob programming sequence and do NOT include your old remote, but your old remote still operates the door locks then I'd guess that it IS the remote start that's causing it.
  9. I think this was the case with the early models - they weren't integrated with the stereo. Sounds like they fixed it at some point.
  10. The factory alarm is built in - there's nothing to activate. If it's a dealer added alarm or lo-jack type system then that's another story.
  11. They should if the engine is running. If you do it with the engine off it thinks you're trying to lock your keys in the car. Alternatively you can use the keyfob to open the door, then use it again to lock it after you get in.
  12. I don't know where I read it - either here or on BON.
  13. Right - because it would be so wrong to point out that Ford changed suppliers for the seal and that repairs so far seem to be working.
  14. The PTU problem appears to have been fixed - and that only affected AWD models. The 20" chrome wheel problems have also been fixed (new supplier). There have been a few other minor issues such as poor paint coverage (easily checked before delivery). Nothing to be concerned about though. It's a great vehicle. I have a Fusion that's almost 4 years old and an Edge that's over a year old and neither one have been back to the shop for any repairs or problems.
  15. Stick with 5W-20. It's fine and you won't risk a denied warranty claim.
  16. You can complain all you want but there's absolutely nothing Ford can do about it. Due to state franchise laws Ford has no control over dealers whatsoever - and every time they try to exert some control (like giving better dealers a higher holdback) the dealer sue them and win. Other franchises (like fast food, retail sales, etc.) do not have state laws written specifically for them and they have much more control over their franchisees. Also remember that a lot of Ford auto franchises are decades old. Do a google on auto state franchise laws. You'll be surprised just how little control Ford has.
  17. So you think every Ford dealer in the country is just like the two you deal with? They're all independent franchises and have nothing to do with each other or Ford.
  18. And still nothing on smokinedge.com . C'mon Gary - tell the truth!
  19. Does she know it's missing?
  20. There is a similar problem with turning off the reverse sensing system. It's supposed to remember but it doesn't. I wonder if it's a system problem with retained memory?
  21. Ford rotors are not necessarily thin and cheap. They can be turned at least once, possibly twice. They should only have to be replaced if they've already been turned or they're heavily damaged. $584 for new pads and rotors sounds reasonable but I don't really think you should need new rotors. If it was me, I'd go get aftermarket rotors (maybe even slotted and/or drilled - just for looks) and pads. They're easy to put on yourself and would cost less than $584 total - and perform better.
  22. That is a feature of the navigation system/radio combination. It has nothing to do with Sync. I had that in my 2003 Aviator long before sync came along.
  23. There was a known problem with these wheels and they'll replace them at no charge under warranty if they're showing damage not caused by a collision. The wheel itself is a lot lighter than the wheels they use for chrome plating. Also real chrome is subject to pitting over time. These should last a lot longer (now that the manufacturing defect has been corrected).
