  1. This was on my Lincoln LS and I was upgrading to Porterfield R4S pads. I had no grooves or pits in the OEM rotors (forgot the mileage) and I had no brake vibration or pulsation. The rotor surface looked clean. I did have some squeal with the porterfields when they were cold but never had anything that would indicate DTV.
  2. Why do the rotors have to be turned if they're performing ok? I've replaced pads only without turning the rotors with no problems. Every time you turn rotors you remove thickness which makes them more susceptible to warping. Is there a reason the rotors need to be turned or replaced when you replace the pads?
  3. Nope. There is a sign on the pump that says "contains ethanol" or "might contain ethanol". Without that sign there shouldn't be any ethanol.
  4. Well duh! That's what it was designed for. It even ran Baja this year.
  5. Recalls are for safety issues only. This is not a safety issue. Have you asked the dealer for an AWA (after warranty adjustment)?
  6. Did you check/replace the cabin air filter?
  7. Of course you can. You just use the up/down buttons to manually tune the stations. It's all spelled out right there in the owner's manual (page 18).
  8. The light colored dashes were replaced with black or dark stone and the bright trim around the top of the center stack was removed IIRC.
  9. No, you can't change it. It's done that way on purpose so the doors don't lock if you're just moving the car around the driveway or a parking lot.
  10. How many more times do you think you'll have to repeat this? I'm guessing 20 - 25.
  11. You could have said that to begin with...... The trick is not interfering with the side airbags. A pillar might work - check with the dealer to be sure there's nothing in that area. Then it's just a matter of finding one that will fit.
  12. You realize you replied to a post that was 21 months old? Sounds like you need a new dealer. Also - are you sure it's the PTO? They usually don't fail right away and they don't fail in warm weather. Maybe your dealer misdiagnosed a tranny problem?
  13. Why would you need one on the driver's side?
  14. Yes, it's that good. Advancetrack will only come on if you understeer or oversteer and that's hard to do with AWD.
  15. Ahh...yes, you're right. I thought he was saying he had put 60,000 miles on the vehicle in one year but that was since he bought it. Sounds like a simple out of warranty part failure. Just because you "thought" you heard a sound in the same vicinity tens of thousands of miles before that doesn't mean they're related, especially if they were unable to duplicate the problem back then.
  16. Forget the undercoating and just keep the underbody clean and don't let it sit too long after driving in snow/salt without cleaning it.
  17. I thought they had a new supplier for the wheels to fix the problem permanently. Did you check with the dealer?
  18. I'm guessing the OP meant 6,000 miles. 60,000 miles in one year is a lot, and way out of warranty (b2b). Please remember that the dealer is not Ford and there's nothing Ford can do here without the dealer's cooperation.
  19. Ford switched to 5W-20 back around 2004. It's a synthetic blend. That's what most Ford engines are designed to use - no reason to change it.
  20. The new stock Michelin Latitudes have been great so far - no noise whatsoever. Of course it's only been 13K miles.

    Oil Filter

Sorry - you said I guess that was a typo. Have you tried a FL-500?

    Oil Filter

Why not just use the Fl-400s?
  23. It is supposed to stay off if you turn it off via the message center setup. It worked that way on my 03 Aviator and I think that's how it's supposed to work here but it doesn't and I haven't heard of a fix. It would require a new PCM version.
