Exactly. One thing to keep in mind going forward is that over the last several years mfrs have been subsidizing leases behind the scenes to move more vehicles and get return customers, so leases in recent memory have been very good deals. That has changed somewhat in the last few months and lease rates have gone up accordingly. Just be sure to check your options before deciding to lease or buy.
-
But you have to understand that some people just want something new every 2-3 years and they don't mind paying for it. If you're determined to get rid of the thing after 3 years then by all means - leasing is the way to go.
-
Just to be clear - you mean less per month than buying and trading in after 3 years. It is still cheaper to buy the car and keep it for a long time.

Magnesium Chloride IS a salt......

We should see the new MKX sometime this week at the Detroit Auto Show. The Edge may wait for the Chicago or New York show.
-
One more time - in English? If you're saying the AWD system is only reactive then once again you're wrong. The system measures speed, throttle position and steering angle and will pre-emptively engage the rear wheels in anticipation of slippage, thereby preventing slippage before it occurs.

If there is sludge then I'd bet a large sum of money that the dealer either used the wrong oil or didn't actually change it when they said they did.
-
That's the problem - you and the other two guys that want one isn't enough to justify the development and production cost. Even on sports cars the take rate is very low. The one advantage that the imports have is that manuals are in more demand in Europe so they can offer them here even in low volume. Looks like manually controllable automatics is the best that you'll get on these.

I think that's a very rare case nowadays. Was the failure lubrication related? I doubt it unless the dealer failed to use the correct oil and filter or the service wasn't done within the proper intervals. I can almost guarantee that if you use Ford OEM oil and filters and follow the recommended maintenance schedule that you won't have a lubrication related engine problem.
-
Why some people think that the vehicle mfr would recommend an oil that does not adequately protect the engine under all normal operating circumstances is beyond me. It's the cheapest insurance that the mfr can buy against warranty claims and customer dissatisfaction. That's why I stick with OEM oils and filters and change intervals.

First, it's never better per se, just a different way of financing. Leasing is essentially buying a new vehicle, driving it for 27 or 39 months (those are the typical Ford lease intervals), then selling it back to the dealer. The difference is if you're buying then you front all the money (with a loan if you're not paying cash), then you get money back when you sell it. The difference is how much the vehicle depreciated during that time. e.g. if you paid $35K and sold it after 39 months for $20K then it cost you $15K (not counting interest). With a lease you take the car and you only pay the $15K over 39 months (plus interest) so the monthly payment is lower. Forget about leasing or buying - how long do you want to keep the vehicle? Buying a new vehicle every 2-3 years is much more expensive than buying it and keeping it 5 or 6 years or longer. If you want to spend the money and drive a new one every 2-3 years then by all means check into leasing as a way to finance. But it won't save you money overall.

The door speakers are mid-bass single drivers (like a sub only smaller). You're better off using a component replacement in 5.25" or 6.5" and replace the tweeter in the stock location. You can't just change the mid-bass driver by itself because it has the crossover to feed the tweeter.

Ford is not allowed BY LAW to control their dealers. They try, they get sued and we're right back to where we are today. I'm just saying don't blame Ford because their dealers are inept because there isn't a damn thing they can do about it right now. And I'm sure Ford is just as frustrated about it as you are. Do us all a favor and go buy a Hyundai.

Ford doesn't service vehicles.

Thanks but I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping to offend at least one person today.........

Sync is not GPS. Sync is mp3 and phone control. GPS is navigation. Fuel mileage is something different yet again and there is only one per vehicle. Although the new MyFord features might have something like that but I doubt it. It may be an obvious feature to you but I've never heard of it or thought I needed it and I'm sure I'm not alone.
-
Wow. Just wow. Check the links for more details on how MyFord and MyLincoln will work. It makes Sync look like a toy and blows away everything else in the market - including iDrive. You can carry your preferences with you to any equipped Ford Vehicle. I would imagine you can even keep it on your iPhone and have it sync automatically via bluetooth when you start the car (pun intended). And check out the quality of the interiors. Who would buy a Murano or SRX over these? http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/07/myford-touch-proves-that-the-shape-of-things-to-come-is-awesome/ http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/myford-dash-and-sync-app-ecosystem-make-us-want-a-blue-oval/

I guess that proves the theory that cars are female............ :happy feet:

CUVs are Crossover Utility Vehicles and they're based on unibody car platforms as opposed to body on frame or heavy duty unibody SUV platforms. So the Traverse and Highlander both qualify.

Keyword search is tricky, especially with PDF files. I always check the index first and in this case it does have an entry for break-In procedure so you might want to try that next time.

I know you looked but this is on page 5 of the owner's manual:

You can also put it in a bowl of rice for a day or so - does the same thing.

%$$**! dealer service dept and their torque wrenches!!!
akirby replied to klc317's topic in Mods & Tech
That sucks, but I wanted to point out that you are talking about impact wrenches (air powered), not torque wrenches. A torque wrench would limit the torque and prevent overtightening.
