Reviewers are like news reporters - bad news sells so I think they go out of their way to find nitpicks sometimes. The other issue (especially with traditional car magazines) is they like to compare based on price without mentioning that a similarly priced BMW will be much smaller and have less features and less performance. Edge ST is truly a tweener with luxury car performance in a mainstream wrapper and priced in between. So it's easy to say it's too expensive until you point out that to get the same size and performance in another brand you have to spend $20K or more.

I would assume it's the same system used in the Expedition.

Key fobs not working - '13 Ford Edge SEL
akirby replied to dztraw's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Try the passenger side. I think it’s two different sensors that unlock the door and start the vehicle so both failing separately is strange. The fobs must be programmed or the vehicle wouldn’t start. -
I've seen this reported on one or two other Ford vehicles (can't remember the details) where running higher octane yielded better shifts/less or no problems. Not enough to be a pattern but enough to probably not be a coincidence.
-
It should definitely be better than 14 on the route you're describing. If it doesn't improve with summer blend gasoline and warmer temps you should get it checked.
-
Could be the seat belt buckle on the driver's side. That would explain why it went away with your daughter sitting there. It drives me crazy on our MKX sometimes.

The other big factor is trip time. If you only take short trips (< 5 miles) then the engine barely warms up and your mpg will be terrible.

Umm.....the government DOES force accurate reporting and they dictate the test procedure. The EPA actually tests about 10% of vehicles randomly to make sure the mfr is testing and reporting correctly. The issue that Ford has recently reported has to do with a mathematical calculation that represents the road and wind resistance used in dyno testing. They aren’t cheating or lying on purpose. You can’t expect to get the EPA window sticker MPG unless you drive EXACTLY like the EPA test procedure. That means driving 55-60 on the highway without A/C and using 100% gasoline - not E-10. Some vehicles are more sensitive to driving style and parameters than others (Ford Ecoboost engines e.g.). I’m getting 22 mpg in mixed driving in my 3.5L ecoboost F150 with 470 lb/ft of torque. That’s better than the EPA ratings.

"No Key Detected" and Car Won't Start
akirby replied to Shockwavesix's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
That’s why I harp on people reading the owner’s manual when you get it so you know how to start it when the fob battery dies e.g. As for the 12V battery, it’s probably on borrowed time. I would just go ahead and replace it before it craps out. Most only last 3 years or so. -
Ummm.....you remove the screws around the perimeter. You’ll need a Torx bit or screwdriver.

Difference between SEL & Titanium?
akirby replied to bruker's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
The main differences are in the trim details and wheels. Active park assist and180 degree camera and HIDs are only offered on the Titanium but they are options (302A package) not standard.- 1 reply

BTW Ford offers a tire and wheel warranty package.
-
Ford sells about 2 million vehicles per year. At even $10/tire that would cost them $80M. I'm sure that's also the reason factory tires don't usually come with treadwear warranties - saves the mfr big bucks.
-
If it's just remounting the tire I agree, but not if he damaged the wheel. I see what you did there.......

That's a much better option. They obviously planned to provide updated maps. I think the method to do the updates without using the old MFT SD cards has given them technical issues.
-
Did you start with the Focus RS or Mustang tune? I've heard the engine is more closely related to the Focus RS but in the Ranger it's North-South like the Mustang.

See if this help with codes and troubleshooting. https://www.justanswer.com/ford/1l7lq-08-escape-3-0-4x4-dual-climate-control-no-heat-drivers-side.html

Oh you have every right to complain and be disappointed. But filing a lawsuit is preposterous. You would have to show that Ford promised updates but didn’t deliver them and Ford has never done that. As long as the maps you have are functioning then Ford has met their obligation. I’m not really defending Ford (I think they should provide updated maps), I just hate frivolous lawsuits and ambulance chasing attorneys who perpetuate them for their own personal gain.

Where did Ford promise you map updates? It’s ok to be disappointed (although I’ve never purchased an update myself on any vehicle) but to suggest a lawsuit is preposterous and totally unfounded.

Titanium Seats uncomfortable
akirby replied to Further North's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Seats are a personal thing. What fits one person may not fit another. -
The advantages of a brushless motor over brushed motors are high power to weight ratio, high speed, and electronic control.

There are no new/continuing transverse 3.0L engines planned as far as I know once Fusion dies and MKZ either dies or moves to CD6 and neither of those will get the new 8 speed. All transverse engines going forward will be on the C2 platform (Escape, Maverick, Corsair, a smaller utility to replace Ecosport and a trucklet) and will probably top out at 2.3L (I4 or I3 only). V6s and V8s will only be available in RWD unibody (Explorer/Aviator/Mustang), F150, Ranger, Bronco and vans. Next gen Edge and Nautilus is the monkey in the middle and could go on a larger C2 (fwd transverse) or a smaller CD6 (rwd longitudinal). This one is up in the air with conflicting reports. I don't think Ford wants the expense of a V6 for the C2 program, but I could be wrong.

That is a steaming pile of horse crap. Don’t do it and don’t do business with whoever advertised that.
