  1. It's every 10 minutes. And I actually like those wheels.
  2. Yep - saw that too. I suspect that will also find it's way into the other 3.5L applications.
  3. I think it's used to determine the proper engine timing (when to fire the spark plugs and inject fuel). Worst case is the engine would stumble, run rough or stop altogether but that would be rare. As long as the CEL isn't blinking it's ok to drive.
  4. So the Edge Sport does get the 305 hp engine!
  5. You DO understand that's a warning message and all you have to do is press Reset and it will go back to the Miles to Empty display........right?
  6. It will have the same user interface (called My Ford Touch) but I don't think it gets the new engine. It will get a 2.0L Ecoboost 4 cylinder engine putting out approximately 240 hp but getting much better fuel economy than the current V6.
  7. I was agreeing with you and just adding more information. At first I thought maybe you could program the remote part of the IKT like the old keyfobs but that was incorrect.
  8. That video was shot before the MKX was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show.
  9. So with it disengaged via the message center, it still opens when you press the keyfob buttons? If so that would rule out activation from an external remote and would only leave the internal button as the likely source.
  10. The difference with the IKTs is that it now appears you program the key itself just like any other PATS key and the remote functions are programmed at the same time. With the old separate keyfob, there was a separate programming function for the PATS key and another for the keyfob remote. That function appears to be obsolete with the new IKTs.
  11. Basically yes - all you have to do is bring it into a Ford dealer and pay the $100 deductible whenever you have a problem. The Ford ESP is the only way to go - you won't get caught in the middle of the mechanics and the warranty provider. Don't forget Ford comes with a 5 yr powertrain warranty that covers the really expensive parts (engine and transmission) so you're only getting 2 yrs of additional coverage there (not counting the mileage). Basically it's a gamble. It makes more sense to finance it so you're only making small monthly payments instead of a single large repair bill. If you're planning to pay cash you might want to reconsider. Also - if you're paying cash you can buy the warranty any time before the bumper to bumper warranty expires. The odds say you'll save money by not buying it (over several vehicles, not just one or two) - otherwise the warranty company wouldn't be selling them. You can always get lucky on a specific vehicle but again it's a gamble.
  12. Yes and yes but only for the 2.0L Ecoboost not the 3.5L according to reports so far. It will be unveiled at the Chicago Auto show in 2 weeks and all details should be available including job 1 dates.
  13. There you go again, making assumptions. The 2.0L Ecoboost is a SINGLE turbo, not TWIN turbo. It gets the fuel economy of a naturally aspirated 2.0 with the power of a 3.0L V6 (230+ hp). The Edge and Explorer are pretty heavy - anything less than 230 hp would not be very competitive and probably wouldn't be that much more fuel efficient either.
  14. I couldn't find a good test of summer vs. winter tires on COLD dry pavement, but it should be obvious that cold summer tires can't provide the same level of traction in near freezing temps as a good winter tire. Some mfrs (Toyo e.g.) even warn that some of their summer tires can crack if used below freezing. All season tires would be a lot closer to winter tires and might be ok in moderate cold, but not summer tires. That's just nuts, even for you.
  15. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driver%27s_license_in_the_United_States Looks like North and South Dakota are the youngest at just over 14 for restricted license. Now THAT is scary.........
  16. Must be you. In GA you get your permit at 15, license at 16. Of course in the rural parts of GA (pretty much everywhere except Atlanta) they start driving on the farm when they're 11 or 12.
  17. I think LL just means Long Life and they're totally compatible, but I'm only 98% sure on that.
  18. All I can say is that reading comprehension definitely isn't your strong suit........
  19. He didn't contradict anything. You said it wasn't possible and Waldo explained how it was possible. You didn't qualify your answer in terms of whether that was the likely cause in this particular case.
  20. I know Waldo and trust me when I say he knows a lot more about this than you do.
  21. This seems like a lot of effort/trouble/expense just to avoid removing a 15mm bolt once every 6 months.
