  1. I'm done here. You can post all the funny pictures you want - doesn't change the facts. I have a few pet peeves that really push my buttons and this is one of them. I realize I should just ignore it and move on but sometimes I get too caught up in it and for that I apologize.
  2. Sticks and stones......... I think you both consider anyone who doesn't agree with you a troll. That's not the definition, although I'm sure you don't care. I don't like to see any company or individual blamed for something that isn't their fault. There are two ways to handle the situation. One is to simply say "I forgot to look in the OM and I had to wait an extra day to get the oil filter from the dealer with an outrageous markup." End of story. But to chastise Ford for "randomly" changing the filter and then accuse them of purposely withholding them from Wal-Mart is preposterous. Like I said, I'm willing to forget it and move on as soon as you guys stop throwing around the T word.
  3. Would you like to just call this a big misunderstanding and start over? Or are you going to keep acting like a 2 year old?
  4. I was going to let it go but I don't like being called a troll. If you think Ford is deliberately withholding oil filters from regular retailers then you're mistaken. Ford doesn't make any more whether it's sold at the dealer or at Wal-Mart. Ford dealers are NOT owned by Ford. It's a simple case of retailers either not knowing the new filters exist yet or (more likely) a decision not to stock it yet due to miniscule demand (compared to other filters on the market for years and years). I mean seriously - how many DIYers out there have a 2010 Edge and need an oil filter? Once demand picks up a little they'll be out there. Now go back and read your comments that I quoted for you and see who's trolling. It's not me.
  5. But why blame Ford? They put the correct number in the manual and they can't force WalMart or any other retailer to carry a specific model oil filter.
  6. How is it Ford's fault that WalMart doesn't sell a particular oil filter?
  7. Its a known fact that Ford Duratec engines get better mpg after 5K or so miles (YMMV). I've experienced it firsthand and have heard it from many others. It's not a myth although it certainly doesn't apply to all vehicles or all engines.
  8. They don't do anything "randomly'. But if you want to keep blaming Ford because you were too lazy to open the owner's manual then go right ahead.
  9. The current owner's manual calls for a FL-500S. Is yours different or did you just decide not to check it first?
  10. You can also replace the headrests with older models - I've heard the older Taurus headrests work but not 100% sure. Or have them modified by an upholstery shop.
  11. Yes. It's not a good idea to run in recirculate mode all the time. Although I've never heard of a mold problem just from that. There must be something else going on.
  12. Flaky wheel speed/ABS sensor. Common problem. Unfortunately they do need to see it while it's acting up to diagnose which sensor is failing.
  13. Seems to me that putting in wiring that would go unused 99.99% of the time is just wasteful. Doesn't sound cheap to me. Although I do find it funny that you're calling someone else cheap given your situation with this vehicle.......
  14. The dealer needs to download the mileage from the old one and upload it to the new one. Otherwise you'll get beeps when in reverse or when you exceed a certain speed (at least that's what happened on a Lincoln LS). Should only take 1/2 hour of labor.
  15. You're forgetting the PTU and possibly the transmission or parts to mate them. Driveshaft, rear diff, half shafts plus all of the wiring for the PTU and the rear differential. Then you'd have to get the PCM reflashed with an AWD version. And I'm sure at least a dozen other things. Is it really worth the trouble?
  16. That movement started when gas hit $4/gallon. If Ford had the Fiesta and new Focus 2 years ago they would be way ahead of the game.
  17. Fiesta is the smallest - B class. Think Fit/Yaris (and Aveo I think but not sure) Focus is C class. Civic/Corolla size. The Fiesta is a lot bigger than a Smart car. It's also much less likely to roll over than a Blazer, so there are always compromises. A blazer, e.g., might fare better against a Fiesta but it is still no match for a dump truck or semi.
  18. Don't blame Ford - blame U.S. customers and emissions requirements. Nobody is bringing over diesel cars for the most part. If the market is there Ford can bring over the euro diesels.
  19. I just don't understand why people think the mfr recommended oil and filter are so bad or that other brands are so much better that they need to change. Especially when it's a synthetic blend already.
  20. If you're really concerned about it - take an oil sample at 3750 and have it tested. They'll tell you for sure whether it needs to be changed or not. Unless you're doing extreme driving 7500 should be just fine.
  21. Do you make a lot of very short trips? If you don't drive more than 5 or 10 minutes after starting it can slowly drain the battery. Let it run longer every few days or get a trickle charger and hook it up once a week or so. Assuming there is no problem with the battery itself or the charging system.
  22. All they've said so far is "more than the 3.0L V6" which would put it around 250.
  23. There is an upgrade available. It's called a 2011 Edge. It's a little expensive but you get a lot with it. And the install time is just a few minutes!
