  1. It's only frustrating when she refuses to drive my Fusion because it "sits too low". If I accelerate with more than 50% throttle she thinks we're about to die - even if it's on a dry sunny day with no traffic. Yet she thinks cruising at 85 mph in a top heavy station wagon is perfectly safe.
  2. That's a common theme among the females in my family. It make them "feel" safer.
  3. Real world? They ran 1000 laps around an oval racing track! It wasn't meant to be real world or even close. It was a PR stunt and a pretty good one at that.

    EPA MPG

According to this article, the 3.7L Edge Sport will get the same EPA rating as the current 3.5L Sport. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38241533/ns/business-autos/
  5. Let me guess - she thinks sitting up higher is "safer"?

    EPA MPG

Why would it have to be higher? It's larger with more power. If we're lucky it will be the same as the 3.5L. Otherwise I'd expect it to be real close - within 1 mpg or so.
  7. Probably just a flaky ABS sensor. Very common problem.
  8. The opinions of the many outweigh the opinions of the one. (apologies to Mr. Spock) If you prefer the Q7 then that's a subjective preference which is fine. But when multiple others disagree then you can't pass your opinion off as fact.
  9. When you replaced the battery it reset the mpg and mph averages. It's normal. It will stabilize as time goes on.
  10. Who besides you thinks the Q7 is superior? Waldo has had street time in both as have the reviewers I quoted above. What makes YOUR opinion more valid than all the rest?
  11. Check the rear camber, shocks and wheel bearings in that order. Rotating often should keep the cupping to a minimum and allow you to get more life out of the entire set of tires.
  12. Most reviewers who drove the MKT ecoboost back to back with the Q7 thought the Flex interior was at least as good as and in some cases better than the Q7 interior. The ones above are the only 2 I could find that made a comment either way. The MKT interior is really nice and probably the best Ford has created to date. And Audi isn't nearly as good as it used to be.
  13. Just FYI - ABS, traction control and the "wrench light" have nothing to do with the PTU.
  14. Of course it will - but for how much more $$$? You should compare the Q5 to the MKX, not the Edge. A review of the MKT said the interior materials, design, fit and finish blew away the Q7. I expect the same quality from the new MKX interior.
  15. Rotation doesn't fix that kind of problem - it just spreads it out over 4 tires instead of 2. Cupping typically indicates a shock or strut problem. Are your roads really bad?
  16. So you don't want people to see you at night from behind? Not very safe IMO.
  17. Next time you change the filter, wipe off the surface where the gasket meets the metal. Make sure no part of the old gasket is left and it's smooth. Put a thin film of oil on the new filter gasket and hand tighten until the gasket touches, then only go another 3/4 turn or so. Run the engine and check for leaks and tighten the filter 1/2 turn as needed after that. Over-tightening can also cause leaks. If that doesn't work then have the dealer check it - might be a defect of some kind. Also make sure it's actually leaking from the filter and not from somewhere above it.
  18. There is one small exception. You can purchase a silicon based fabric protector (not applicable to leather though) which works very well and outlasts scotchguard. It typically lasts 3-5 years whereas scotchguard only lasts 6 months because it's water based. It has to be applied with a respirator but it really does work and you usually get a 3 yr warranty against stains. We used to sell it for furniture protection when I was in college. I had a throw pillow that I sprayed and I would take a coke or other liquid and pour over it and it would run off like it was waterproof. It only cost us about $5 for the chemical plus 10 minutes to spray it on. We charged $40 but that included the warranty. I sprayed my new car seats and carpet for free when I came back to visit the store after college.
  19. So was mine. I just quoted your reply instead of the original. I believe we're in violent agreement.......
  20. I wasn't referring to Fords or any specific vehicle. Just making everyone aware that IF the mfr uses one then you definitely don't want to change the oil too soon.
  21. Or you could call it peace of mind like everyone else. Seriously though - you might want to get the oil checked if it looked that bad after 3k unless you've been running high rpm or high temps.
  22. Snake oil. Won't protect any better than a regular wax or protectant on the paint and you don't need or want anything to protect the leather - just a good cleaning and conditioning periodically. The dealer is more likely to screw up the paint applying it.
  23. 5K seems to be the minimum with some going to 7500, 10K or even higher with full synthetic. That won't stop the dealers from putting 3K stickers on your windshields (drives me nuts).
  24. It is a waste of money and perfectly good oil. It won't hurt anything on the Edge but be aware that some vehicles may come with a special break-in oil or special additives that need to be left in for some period of time so make sure you check the owner's manual before doing this on a new vehicle. Engines don't burn oil like they used to and they don't have "metal shavings" from the factory any more. Ford factory oil is a synthetic blend and changing oil 2.5 times more often than recommended is just wasting good oil (forget about the cost).
