  1. Why do you keep blaming this on Ford? Ford Sync uses the Bluetooth interface standards. The fact that it works for some phones but not for others indicates that Ford has correctly implemented their side of the Bluetooth interface (with the exception of a few bugs here or there). If some feature did not work for ANY phones then you could assume that might be a bug in Ford's implementation but I haven't heard that. Each cellphone mfr and service provider's bluetooth implementation is different. They all support different levels and features. All Ford can do is make the interface and features available - it's up to the cellphone mfr and service provider to take advantage of it and to use it correctly. Ford has no control over this. The problem is there are probably very few BT devices out there that support the features that Sync supports. BT headsets only support audio e.g. My point is that if a particular phone doesn't work but at least one other one does then the problem is with the cell phone, not Sync. So Ford isn't "getting the BlackBerry first". It just means that RIM did a better job implementing their bluetooth interface.
  2. Why stop there? Why not add a Tornado, a magnet on the fuel line, a hydrogen gas generator and one of those 100 mpg carburetors? P.T. Barnum nailed it.
  3. The Navigation software must be updated and the SD card installed at the same time. You can't add Nav right now but I think you'll be able to in a few months once the dealers get the Nav software update procedure.
  4. Pretty sure it only uses the engine operating parameters (RPM, acceleration, time).
  5. I can't believe you fell for that scam.
  6. Yes - you should see lights on if that was the case. I'm stumped. Try this at night. Stand next to the car after shutting it off and see if it's exactly 10 minutes. Listen for any sounds (clicks especially) at the 10 minute mark. This would confirm it's some type of timer and might help the dealer pinpoint the problem. It could be a bad smart junction box or whichever module communicates with the remote. I doubt you can fix this yourself though.
  7. You have been RIPPED OFF. There's no other way to put it. This is why you have to read the paperwork closely. Since you signed the paperwork you may not have any recourse. The warranty is genuine but there are many reports of things not being covered. Safe key is a total waste. I don't know what it does but I know it doesn't work like OnStar and you don't need it. If you have a keypad then you can open the door anytime and you can never lock your keys in the car. If you don't have a keypad you can buy one for $70. Tire and Wheel is just a road hazard warranty. It costs about $15 per tire, max. Tell them if they don't refund those last 2 items and replace the Warranty Solutions with a Ford ESP warranty for the same price that you'll report them to the BBB and call Ford. It's worth a shot.
  8. The powertrain warranty is only 60K miles - not 150K!
  9. Or MP3s on a CD disc. I don't understand the objection to ripping cds to a memory stick. You put the CD in your computer and rip it to a usb memory stick, remove and plug into the vehicle. How is that much harder than using the cd player to rip it to the hard drive?
  10. That used to be true but not any more. Modern engines do not use special break-in oil (with possibly one or two exceptions). Modern engines do not need the original factory oil changed early. If the recommended interval is 5000 miles then that's when you need to do the first change.
  11. Basically it's up to the dealer. They'll usually give you a price that's good for X days and/or within X miles as stated above. Of course they reserve the right to change it if they find the vehicle in a different condition than when it was appraised. But usually that's not a problem.
  12. Well, technically it's not your car - yet! I doubt they would do that but you should ask to be sure. If they do without permission then you wouldn't be obligated to purchase it.
  13. Yet they do it all the time. It's not a noticeable scratch - it's the little spiderwebs and swirls that only really show up on a black or dark vehicle. You probably wouldn't see them on a silver vehicle unless you were detailing it.
  14. I don't think the programming is there in the Smart Junction Box even if you got the hardware hooked up (I assume it's the SJB that controls it since it controls the lights). It's possible it will work without it or you might be able to get a dealer to reprogram it. You might be better off with an aftermarket kit that is 100% self contained and doesn't interface with the SJB.
  15. I know how to read and I know what Late Availability means in a press release. If that makes me a know it all then by golly that's what I am. Along with everybody else. I can't stand 2 things - misinformation and people who accuse other people or companies of doing something wrong when they didn't. And I didn't hear anyone agreeing with your assessment that Ford advertising was deceptive about MyTouch. Quite the opposite in fact.
  16. No reason? jpelt told you it would not work and why. I was merely reiterating what he said. You need to send that card back to the ebay seller and get your money back. It will not work as advertised. I don't know how much more helpful we could possibly be. Don't shoot the messengers just because you don't like the answer. I just don't understand when someone asks for help, is given the answer, then ignores the correct answer because they don't like it and then they get upset when someone points it out. If you don't want the answer, don't ask the question. BTW - SOL means s**t out of luck. It's a really accurate description of your SD nav card purchase. I'm sorry if you don't like that answer.
  17. Please take a half hour and read the owner's manual. It tells you specifically how to operate the push button start. There is also important info on what to do if the fob stops working so you can still start and drive the vehicle. And what to do if the person with the Fob leaves the vehicle while it's running.
  18. This is a long shot, but see if they stop working after 10 minutes or 30 minutes and make sure you didn't leave any interior lights on. Just a hunch.
  19. It's software and it can get corrupted. Reloading may have also changed some other parameters. Quite common for software issues.
  20. But then you wouldn't have anything to gripe about on the internet.
  21. I'm only arguing your allegation that Ford was purposefully deceptive and somehow misled you. They did not. Seems nobody wants to take any personal responsibility these days and that just irks me. Why can't you just say you're disappointed that some features aren't available yet? That would be honest and nobody would argue with it.
  22. No, you specifically said Ford was being deceptive and implying that certain features would be available and they're not. That is not the case at all. The web browser specifically was called out by Ford as not being available initially.
  23. Late availability means it's coming later, as in not right now. You'll get it.......later. Don't blame Ford for your lack of reading comprehension. I don't think you quite understand how Sync works with cell phones. Sync is a stand alone device with a bluetooth phone interface. Ford has programmed the bluetooth interface to use certain standard bluetooth features. However, Ford has NO control over cell phone mfrs and how they code their bluetooth interface. The fact that some phones work says that Ford has coded their side correctly and most problems are on the cell phone side - which Ford has NO control over. The cell phone lists on syncmyride.com are merely the result of Ford's tests with specific phones. They can't possibly fully test every phone on the market nor can they force phone mfrs to use the bluetooth interface correctly or to provide the necessary features required to make the system work.
