Thank you.....

There is no such thing as an incorrect opinion. I've never argued with anyone who states their opinion. Only those who state their opinions as if they are facts when they're wrong. You're the one blaming Ford for problems caused by the cell phone mfrs and saying Ford was guilty of false advertising when clearly they were not. You and nextime seem to have a lot in common......
-
You asked a simple question - why would they put buttons on the phone that don't work - and I gave you the correct answer which Waldo confirmed. bbf2530 also gave you the correct answer about phone kits which Waldo also confirmed. They would have been very useful if you had listened. You're the one who chose not to believe either answer and proceeded to attack both of us. And now you're calling me a post whore? Instead of attacking, try apologizing and saying thank you for the information. But you won't because that's just not how you operate, is it? Personally, I have no use for people who ask questions and then attack the people who try to answer them just because they don't like the answers.

Transparency? What more would any other company tell you about a defect in their product except that it's a known problem and they're working diligently to fix it? If they have a list of 1500 things to fix, which I don't doubt - this is complicated software written by a car company - then they're spending all their time working on fixes - probably around the clock or close to it - and they don't have time to talk to every customer that calls in with a problem. I'm not really sure what more you're expecting other than a nice personalized response just to make you feel better. It certainly won't get the problems fixed any sooner. Now if this was a rare problem and they weren't already swamped with bug fixes then it might be a different story.

In other words.........no. Nextime you have a question try not to attack the people trying to help you.

Questions About Adding Homelink to Sport
akirby replied to hunter4814's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
This is one time I'm not happy to be right. But I was afraid that was the case. As for the plug-n-play I've know people that have done it on other Ford vehicles. I bought a cheap maxima homelink visor from ebay for $50 and added it to my visor. Works great - just wired it into the vanity lights which are always hot. But I couldn't figure out how to get the fabric all the way off so I cut it and it looks terrible. I need to get a replacement and try again. -
Questions About Adding Homelink to Sport
akirby replied to hunter4814's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I'm a little leary of that price. The regular visor without Homelink is almost that much. Last time I checked a visor with homelink was over $300. Let us know if you actually get one for $100. -
Wait for them to fix it and make sure it's a perfect repair.
-
And once again no good deed goes unpunished. If you're not going to accept the answers then don't ask the questions.
-
Because it's easier to make them all the same.
-
You definitely can't do it yourself. You'll have to step up to a SEL for about $3K, which isn't much more than you'd have to spend to add it yourself plus you get a lot of other upgrades. If you want MyTouch just bite the bullet and get the SEL.

I'm not a detailer but that's an easy one. A clay bar removes things that are embedded in the paint like rail dust, etc. It lifts out the debris. Rubbing or polishing compound is an abrasive that actually removes a thin layer of paint leaving a smooth and polished surface.

The horizontal door just pulls open - I think there's a tab on the left side. I think the door itself is only an inch or so high, but it's been awhile since I did mine.

Ask A Professional Detailer?
akirby replied to CanuckG35's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
If it's a deep scratch then you'll have to fill it. The paint pens from paintscratch.com work well. If it's a very light scratch you might be able to rub it out with rubbing compound (clearcoat safe) but be careful. -
Is the Jukebox a myth on 2011 MyFord?
akirby replied to DistortedEdge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The difference is they switched from a hard drive based Nav to SD card based - that's what eliminated the jukebox because it was a partition on the Nav hard drive. No hard drive no jukebox. -
They just announced the 2.0 EB won't debut until the 2012 model which should be out next spring or summer.
-
It's the truth. Why do you keep defending them?
-
Of course they did. I don't think anyone is denying that. But having a product with bugs is not the same as false advertising.
-
I was talking about specific features that work with some cell phones but not with others - like reading text messages. There is obviously something wrong with the 2011 MFT and Ford is working on it. That's a different issue.

2011 Edge My Ford Touch question
akirby replied to emusnes's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
That was on the pre-2011s with Nav. The Nav had a 10 gb hard drive partition. You could only load it from an audio CD. With the 2011 you can only load songs to a mp3 player or a usb drive (from a computer - not from the vehicle). -
Ford typically does cold testing in Yellowknife among other places. It is possible they didn't do enough testing but it's more likely that something changed late in the program or it's just a manufacturing tolerance issue.
-
That does meet the Ford spec (according to Amsoil) so it should be ok.
-
The bluetooth interface specs are not Microsoft technology. There is a bluetooth standard that all mfrs must adhere to and implement correctly for the interface to work. If either side doesn't implement the standard correctly then it won't work. The fact that some phones do work just fine with Sync generally proves that Ford implemented their interface correctly and the problem is on the cell phone.
