It's NOT a sync or Ford issue. The phones have to support the MAP bluetooth protocol. Most phones do not. Go ask the cell phone mfrs why they don't support the necessary protocol.

Sometimes it turns on the compressor but doesn't turn on the light to tell you it's on. Not sure about the Edge specifically though. This is no different than your home A/C. You know the little pump that sits by your A/C and sends the condensation water outside or down the drain? That's because when it cools the incoming air it removes humidity. A dehumidifier works the same way,

Consumer Reports Reviews '11 Edge & MKX
akirby replied to Hockey87's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I think you're overestimating the number of people having issues and the degree of frustration of the average user. There are a handfull of folks here with serious problems and concerns. There are tens of thousands of happy Edge owners (many here also) with no big issues. At one point a dealer had sold 200 Edges and only had one complaint. It's easy to look at an internet forum and assume the worst but the sample size is way too small and way too biased towards reporting problems. This is Ford's first foray into this type of complicated user interface software. It's obvious they chose a poor platform (flash) and have way too many bugs, but it's a learning curve and it will most certainly get better over time. To put it into perspective - how many other car companies offer software this complicated in a vehicle? It's a lot different than developing a web page. The fact that it's a software issue is good news since it can be easily fixed. Hardware would be much tougher. -

Not even close, but you can take his word for it regardless. -
Sync supports the feature - the iphone and other phones do not. There aren't many (if any) bluetooth devices out there that use that protocol to exchange contact photos so the cell phone companies have chosen not to implement them yet.

Why would the dealer extend the warranty? You bought it used "as is" with no warranty. You assume all the risks when you do that. You might be able to just get the seal replaced - might be cheaper.

Not defogging - dehumidifying. It takes moisture out of the air to prevent the windows from fogging up and it doesn't matter where it blows.

Aftermarket Leather Upholstery for Edge?
akirby replied to Osiris1975's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Upholstery shop. They can redo the foam and/or the seat covers as needed. -
Off topic posts and replies were deleted. Sorry about that.

I have seen incentives go down but in this case I'd be surprised if they do. No way to be sure though. The bigger issue is the $750 coupon. I'd say find one as close as you can to what you want and go for it, especially with X plan. You'll probably end up liking the extras and you'll get a $750 discount on them and you won't have to wait or worry about rebates expiring. You should look around the dealer inventory yourself to see what's available.

Everything is dealer stock at the time you purchase it and take delivery. It just means that you have to take delivery before the coupon expires. You can't just place an order before the coupon expires.

You can drain the fluid by dropping the pan but that only gets a small percentage of the fluid. Sometimes a "Flush" involves a cleaner fluid and that's not recommended either. Ford dealers have a machine that they connect to the transmission cooler lines and it removes the old fluid and replaces it with new fluid using the transmission pump. This gets 95% of the old fluid out. You can do it yourself with some tubing and 2 5 gallon buckets but that's really messy and you could contanimate the new fluid.

Perimeter alarm sounding at gas station
akirby replied to viper001's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I've had my Fusion for 5.5 years. Last week I was walking into the office and heard an alarm go off in the parking lot. I was carrying a grocery bag with coffee supplies and my keys were in my jacket pocket. I couldn't see my car for bushes (it was about 75 feet away). I turned around to make sure it wasn't mine and it stopped. Since I didn't hit any buttons I assumed it wasn't mine. Before I could get in the building it started again. Turned around and it stopped again. Then it started a 3rd time so I walked all the way back out to where I could see it and sure enough it was my car. The groceries were pressing the panic button on the remote in my jacket pocket. The confusing part is that it turned off by itself twice. So now I just assume that somehow it got pressed accidentally. -

I didn't say that. I just said that he knows what he's talking about. -
The fix is to replace the seat tracks. Get a new dealer.

Yes it does (under normal usage) but I know a retired Ford transmission engineer who changes his every 30k miles - no exceptions. His theory is that all transmission service is severe and it's better to change it sooner. I'd change it at 60K.

Yes he does. -
That's about $300 worth of fluid and filter replacements (assuming they replace all the fluid) and tire rotation and $200 worth of "inspection". You can easily do the cabin and engine filters yourself.

Go to the Ford website, click on models and do a compare of the Limited and Sport models. There are several mutually exclusive options that you can't get on both models. e.g. no HIDs on the Sport.

No idea who actually makes them but they're Ford parts - no brand name. -

Only the head unit is Sony anyway - not the speakers. Are you looking to upgrade? -
Sirius quality not woth the money...

Depends on the channel and probably the time of day. They do it to get more channels - no mystery there. It doesn't sound any worse than FM to me but I'm no audiophile.
