[update/conclusion] White smoke on acceleration
akirby replied to ben senise's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
Could have just been temporary excessive moisture in the exhaust system. -
Yes but they’re optional and clearly advertised as summer only tires.

I’m saying the usb port doesn’t support analog audio input like you’d normally find on a cd player. It wants digital storage or a digital playback like a thumb drive, ipod or phone. Some new one like the one you linked might have a digital interface so those might work but I wouldn’t count on it. Using a USB flash drive is just so much better.

They won’t work. Just rip the cd to your computer and copy it to a usb flash drive. It will hold thousand of songs and you can access then with voice commands.

You start by pulling codes not randomly replacing parts that may or may not be bad.
-
I think it’s computer controlled but it’s probably some incompatibility with the aftermarket turbo rather than it being faulty.
-
Are you seeing actual wear in the rear diffs or just going by the fluid appearance?
-
Bad chassis ground?
-
I’d say throttle body is the most likely culprit.
-
The oil on the tailgate is from the oil leaking out while driving. The sensor does not measure oil level only oil pressure so it may or may not be bad. My guess is they used the wrong gaskets or I stalled them incorrectly or left something loose allowing the oil to leak out rapidly.
-
That’s the ONLY way to do it!
-
It’s a safety feature. First vehicle I saw that did this was a 2000 Lincoln LS. Protects the engine and transmission in case you decide to redline it in neutral and drop it into gear.

But you can put whatever size 17” tires that match the factory 20”. Not limited to the OEM sizes.
-
Not if the tire diameter is the same.

So one fob works now but the other doesn’t? Or is it only working intermittently? Parking toll passes or cards with chips can cause interference.
-
I think that shows doors open, etc.
-
Did you try a different fob? If neither fob works with fresh batteries then it must be the receiver but that’s probably a dealer visit.
-
There should be relays in the power distribution box in the engine bay. Could also be the smart junction box.
-
Then maybe RFID is the backup system, but if your fob battery gets too weak then you won’t be able to start the vehicle with the fob in your pocket. It will say key not detected and then you have to put it in the special slot that allows the rfid to be read passively. Even Ford says the first thing to do if you get key not detected is to change the battery.
-
The RFID does work without a battery which is why you can start it with a dead battery but it has to be very close to the transceiver. To work further away it needs the fob battery.
