It's not up for debate. There is no need to make comments or assumptions about what other people are experiencing or not experiencing just like they shouldn't tell you what you are or are not experiencing in your vehicle.

Please note I am not "stalking" you. I am simply providing facts that conflict with your statements from public sources. Even K&N doesn't claim a mpg gain: Fueleconomy.gov came to the same conclusion - airflow restriction does not affect mpg ON MODERN CARS: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/pdfs/Air_Filter_Effects_02_26_2009.pdf The reason is simple - Mass Airflow Sensor. There is no difference between a paper filter at 50% throttle and a K&N filter at 45% throttle - they both flow the same amount of air into the engine thus using the same amount of fuel. You can flow slightly more air at WOT with a K&N so you might get a very slight hp increase - 1-4 hp. But no mileage gain.

Maybe because they're baffled as to why the people who do have issues keep insisting that everyone has the same issues? Pot....kettle?

Brook's law - adding more people to a late software project only makes it later. 9 women cannot have a baby in 1 month. I started my professional career doing Unix development in 1986. I know a little bit about the subject and you're dead wrong. You can't just add people to fix more bugs. Let's say I had 10 different items that needed to be fixed under the hood. Could 10 different people all work in the engine bay at exactly the same time? Of course not. The same is true with software. At one point last year there were reportedly 1500 bugs. You don't fix 1500 bugs in 1 month. Blame them for releasing the software too early. Blame them for choosing Flash instead of html 5. Blame them for not being great programmers. But you can't blame them for lack of effort or for trying to sweep problems under the rug. And there's nothing wrong with letting Ford know your displeasure. But that doesn't mean you'll get them to work any faster or harder than they already are.
-
You implied that everyone was having problems and the ones who were "satisified" were simply ignoring the problems. That is clearly not the case. The ones who have no problems don't post much. Every time choff1138 says that she's had no problems she gets challenged over and over - going back to last fall. So let's stick to reporting what you know about YOUR vehicle and don't make judgements about other people's vehicles.

Still could be "normal" - there might be some internal reason to turn on the radio to receive voice commands. Maybe the voice recognition module is actually in the head unit. Probably never know for sure. Instead of turning the radio off, just turn the volume all the way down and leave it on. Then you'll never notice it.
-
Doesn't the system give you verbal feedback in that case? What does it do if the radio is off and you go into navigation mode and get verbal nav directions. Does that cause the radio to turn on? It could be a bug or it could just be that it needs the radio on to activate the speakers for responses to your commands and to give you instructions.

^^^ This ^^^ If they weren't putting out regular software releases then I might agree but that's pretty clear evidence that they're TRYING to fix the problem, regardless of how successful they've been. Let's keep in mind there are a lot of perfectly satisfied 2011 Edge owners out there with few to no problems. This doesn't seem to be affecting all vehicles or all customers.
-
Since you just joined I'll assume you missed what happened when the Edge was released last year. There were a significant number of serious problems and Ford addressed them very quickly with a new software release within the first month or two. They also replaced several APIM units. This latest software release is the 3rd software release since the Edge debuted just a few months ago. The point being that Ford knows their software has issues and they've been making a solid effort to fix it. They haven't been totally successful yet but there is no indication that they're ignoring the problem or not doing their best to fix it. I'm not saying not to call or write but don't feel like you have to do it in order to get Ford's attention.
-
What has Ford done the last 6 months that would make anyone think that they're not trying to fix everything? Obviously they haven't been as successful as we'd like but I don't see how anyone could fault the effort.
-
Sorry - I meant for the system to give YOU voice commands. It would see that the head unit would have to be on for the speakers to work. Just a thought.
-
Does the radio need to be on to get voice commands?

Urban myth. When this happens the tranny is already toast - flushing the fluid does not cause failures. I know a former Ford transmission engineer who gets his flushed every 30K miles.

Joe - there is a plethora of topics on sealants and waxes in this very sub-forum. Start with the one right below this one.

I said it was nice and I was just pointing out to others that the info was in the OM. You'd be surprised how many people never open the OM. -
You can also fill a CLEAN 5 gallon bucket with new fluid and attach a rubber hose to the return line and submerge it in the bucket of clean fluid.

Nice, but aren't these all listed in the owner's manual in the glovebox for easy reference? -
Don't worry - the dealer must show you the invoice with the X plan price printed at the bottom. Make sure they fill out the X plan pricing form also.
-
That's the recommendation. But I suspect you can go 10k with no problems because today's oils and filters are so much better.
-
The owner's manual lists all of the necessary part numbers including the oil filter. No need to rely on the parts guy.

E-10 (10% ethanol - 90% gasoline) vs. pure gasoline (100% gasoline).
