Thanks Waldo. That should stop at least part of the whining........ And no folks - Waldo is not going to tell you anything else about the 2013 Flex. Although I guess that does confirm there will be one........

We've already done this once. There is an entire thread of people who aren't having problems. We aren't going to have that argument again. You worry about yours and stop making accusations about other people. You don't drive their vehicle so you don't know what they are or are not seeing or doing. When Ford stops putting out updates THEN you will have a valid argument. Right now all you can say is that your vehicle is having problems. Everything else is speculation and in most cases unwarranted.

I agree that syncmyride should have posted the updates. But the dealers know there is a new software release so anyone who is continuing to have problems and reports the problems to the dealer gets the new software. How is that different from any other known problem outside of a safety recall? If you have a problem you report it and if there is a fix available it gets applied. None of that has any bearing on whether Ford is making valid attempts to fix the problems or not. Personally I'd rather have them spend their time fixing bugs than notifying customers. Edit: especially when there are numerous examples of users who aren't having any problems or only very minor ones.

Huh? Ford has put out at least 4 updates in the last 6 months. Where is ANY evidence that Ford isn't committed to fixing these problems? I don't understand these comments.

You don't use "Line-in" - that's the physical input in the console. Just pick user device, bluetooth and make sure the phone is set to output audio to sync.

You can also put a tinted cone over the sensor if you just want to change the sensitivity without blocking it totally.

The only major issue to be aware of is the PTU seal leak on the AWD models. That seems to have been mostly remedied for the 2010+ models and could be a problem on prior models if the repair wasn't done correctly with the latest seals. But if you're looking FWD they're pretty much all the same. The MKX has THX sound (may have been optional so look for it) and cooled seats plus some other less obvious upgrades. It's really up to you whether you like it better or not. I normally prefer Lincolns but actually went with the Edge in 08 - I didn't care for the Lincoln styling and the extra features weren't worth the extra money to me at that time.

That's your prerogative but I would hardly call that an attack. If you'd like to reconsider we'll try to be more sensitive.

Jeff is in Canada - isn't the mpg calculation slightly different?

It used to be in the middle of the dash at the base of the windshield.

:shades: Which one? The fob cover or a man purse?

Personally I'd stay away from this type of solution. It's a module that plugs into the wiring harness between the engine and the PCM. This means it has to "trick" the PCM into doing what it wants by altering sensor readings or changing the commands going back to the vehicle. That limits what you can do. You're much better off getting a tuner that actually downloads new code to the PCM like the SCT tuner. It actually changes the PCM code inside.

That would be my recommendation. Electronics don't usually fail after the first few weeks and if they did I doubt they would cost more than $1500 to fix. It's your money though - I was just pointing out that you won't get 2.5 years of coverage - only 1.
-
That just doesn't make sense. I could see if it happened on one vehicle - maybe the PCM was messed up. But not two. Something else is happening. I suggest having another dealer look at it and check the programming again.

"Connection error - See Dealer"

Ummm.....the fuse isn't bad - you're pulling the fuse to reset the sync module. Using a spare had nothing to do with it. -
Sorry about that - I was having a bad day and break vs. brake is a long time pet peeve. Ford makes the parking brake specifically to keep the car from rolling when it's parked so not using it and then complaining about it tends to bring out the sarcasm. Sorry if that was a little harsh.
-
Ford doesn't fix cars - dealers do. What exactly did the dealers do to reprogram. Did they reprogram each vehicle with the 2 keys that came with that vehicle separately? What exactly happens with each one of the 4 keyfobs?
-
Yes - something doesn't make sense.

I just hold the volume down button - it works so fast it's basically a mute feature.
-
You can buy it until the bumper to bumper warranty runs out. But for you that's not 2.5 years - it's just over 1 year because of the 36,000 mile warranty mileage limit - you'll hit that way before you hit the 3 year time limit. If you're doing a lot of highway miles those are really easy on the vehicle. Your odds of having a problem during the extended warranty period is greatly reduced.
-
I can't remember the last time I actually turned off the radio in my vehicle. I'll turn the volume down every once in a while but I never turn it off.
-
Yes, it is 100% voluntary. Ford can't force dealers to accept their pricing. However - if your dealer had accepted your x plan pin they would have gotten an additional $400 or so from Ford as additional profit for the plan sale. Now ask yourself - why would the dealer turn down a guaranteed $400 additional profit for no reason? How much did they charge for a documentation fee? Were there other dealer fees/add-ons/options that were added?

I actually did this on purpose with our previous vehicles so I didn't have to carry an extra fob. The only explanation I can think of is you have 2 fobs with the same code. The car learns each fob. Did the dealer wipe out the fob learning and relearn both fobs to each vehicle separately? If not then that should fix it. If they did does it only happen with one of the fobs or all of them? If it's just one then get a new one. If it's all then that's a mystery.
