  1. Good grief man - find a new service tech that knows what they're doing.
  2. Wow - you must be psychic! Thinline is banned (again) and so will any new usernames he decides to use.
  3. Have you ever seen a throttle body? It restricts the air flow into the engine. The engine simply pulls whatever air is allowed in by the throttle body and air filter. The computer simply adds enough fuel to match the incoming air volume. Your theory that the engine has to "work harder" based on the air filter is rubbish. There is no difference between 50% throttle with a paper filter and 45% throttle with a K&N - it's the total amount of air entering the intake and it doesn't matter how it gets there. You get 2 more warning points for that last sentence that I removed. Next occurence you get an automatic 2 week vacation.
  4. It's fine to say that YOU saw an increase, but it's not accurate to say that everyone would see an increase or that the increase was due strictly to the K&N filter without test results to back that up.
  5. No, it wasn't a controlled test but it's anecdotal evidence that is contrary to the other anecdotal evidence. However it should disprove the theory that the engine loses efficiency because it has to work harder to suck in air. If that were the case you would expect to see a huge drop in mileage in that circumstance, controlled or not.
  6. But did you try going back to a new paper filter then back to the K&N? That would at least rule out most other outside variations (but not all). How do you know they didn't change the fuel at the same time (winter blend back to summer blend, E-10 back to straight gas, etc.)? Did you drive exactly the same way over exactly the same route? Was the weather different? Tire pressure? I've owned K&N filters and have nothing against them. I just don't believe they can increase your mpg all else being equal. All you have to do is find a controlled test to prove otherwise. I did find a test from a guy that actually put a diaper in the air intake box on his car. He had virtually no power but his mileage actually went UP by 1 or 2 mpg.
  7. Make sure the phone has the latest OS version. Un-pair the phone and sync. Make sure you have the latest sync update. Pull the sync fuse (check owner's manual for location) to reset it. Do a full reset/reboot on the phone (pull battery if necessary). Re-pair the phone and see if problems continue. If they do try another phone if possible. If it continues then it's probably the sync hardware. If that fixes it then it's the phone.
  8. The MPG increase is brilliant marketing BS. It's called "how to imply there is a mpg improvement without actually saying there is a mpg improvement." All those variables are true and applicable to real world mpg claims. However, it's easy to control all of those variables in a laboratory testing environment. You run the same vehicle on the same day in the same weather on the same route and you switch back and forth between the paper filter and the K&N filter. Then you publish the results with the appropriate disclaimers. They publish estimated horsepower gains using the same process. The fact that they do not do the same for fuel mileage combined with that BS FAQ answer says it all.
  9. Or you can avoid all the unknowns and just use the factory Motorcraft filter.
  10. That's only one type of X plan pin. The other is Friends and Family where Ford employees can give out up to 4 pins per year to friends and family members. There is a forum over on blueovalforums.com where you can request one and employees will give them out from time to time if you don't have an employee friend already.
  11. You don't know if the tank was filled all the way. Give it a few tankfuls. Reset the avg MPG readout with each fillup.
  12. Better yet - if there were any verifiable mpg gains then K&N would have that plastered all over their website. But they don't. Nuff said.
  13. Don't be silly. Put the tires back to 37. Underinflated tires are dangerous, period.
  14. No. They're not intended for customers. You can get summaries on nhtsa.gov but not the full text. You need a subscription to alldata or some other service to get the full text.
  15. If you're not having any problems then there is nothing to fix. If you are having problems you report those to the dealer who knows a new version is available that might address the problem. It's not different than having an engine problem. Syncmyride will notify you of new features but not bug fixes.
  16. Recalls - yes. TSBs - no. TSBs are nothing more than a known problems list to help the service dept pinpoint and fix reported problems. Recalls are safety related and there haven't been any on the 2011s that I recall. Are you referring to the sync/MFT update notices?
  17. It's not a weird question. There is no lock. It won't help anyway. If someone breaks the window or goes to the trouble of getting in some other way, a simple lock won't stop them - they'll just damage the vehicle to get what they want.
  18. There's your problem.
  19. Sorry but I can't allow any postings that deal with stealing software or Navigation services.
  20. It's perfectly normal because the jiffy lube technician did not know to reset the oil life indicator. It doesn't reset automatically because it's not actually measuring the oil itself. You have to reset it.
  21. My thought is mv-clear is correct - you didn't pay for navigation, so you get turn by turn directions from sync services. If you had paid for navigation you'd have the same full map display as everyone else. BTW - ginny pig is slang for an Italian policeman. I think the word you're looking for is guinea pig.
