  1. There are 10 types of people in this world - those that understand binary and those who don't.
  2. More air in actually means MORE gas used because it has to maintain the A/F ratio. However, the notion that a freer flowing air filter provides more air to the engine is ONLY true at WOT. At anything less than WOT the only difference is the amount of throttle applied. Let's say it flows 10% better - that means that 50% throttle with a K&N looks the same to the engine as 60% throttle with a paper filter. So for normal driving all you've done is change the amount of throttle you apply - the amount of air is the same therefore the fuel is the same.
  3. The same reasoning applies to the filter as well. Don't expect any improvement.
  4. Maybe you should read it again. 3.5 V6 is 280/253.
  5. Exactly. Changing your driving habits will yield better results.
  6. Turn the power liftgate off first - then do whatever you want.
  7. Useless? It allows you to start the vehicle from afar and warm up or cool down before you get in it. Just because you need to restart it when you get in doesn't negate the usefulness. It's an inconvenience for sure but hardly useless.
  8. Of course it's possible. There are very good aftermarket companies that do the installs the same way the factory would. Ask the dealers who they use. Doesn't matter who does the work - It will only void the warranty if the installation causes some problem in the vehicle and the warranty would only be voided for that specific issue or part, not the whole vehicle. Try to find one with satisfied customers and no or very few complaints.
  9. Did you reset the computer avg mpg? What did you get on your previous vehicle compared to the EPA estimate? It should improve over time but that sounds really low. Give it one or two tanks. You might also try a different gas station just to be safe.
  10. You may have to release them from inside the seat. Somebody posted that procedure but I don't remember which vehicle it was for and which forum it was posted on. I'll see if I can find it.
  11. Sync should be standard on the SEL. Navigation is a separate option.
  12. If it's the clock spring then yes, you have to remove the steering wheel to replace it. It's not guaranteed but that's the most likely culprit.
  13. I'm on my second set of Latitudes on my 08 limited. No complaints at all. They're pricey but they're great tires.
  14. This typically points to the clock spring in the steering wheel.
  15. Actually the warranty only requires that you use fluids and parts that meet the ford specification - doesn't have to be motorcraft and you can certainly do it yourself. If you want to switch to mobil 1 then you need to be sure it meets the Ford spec in your OM. Same for oil filters. Personally I think the factory synthetic blend Motorcraft 5w-20 and filter is perfectly fine if you change it per the OM.
  16. I think whomever was called at Ford was just agreeing with the dealer without doing any investigation. If you can't get the first dealer to change their mind go find another one.
  17. Cool. So you know Doug........ Do they still let you keep the spiff check? Can't beat that deal.
  18. So what was your cost and where did you get it? You still get the rebates on top of X plan so you'd have to negotiate a price at dealer invoice minus rebates plus $100 doc fee. It can be done on certain vehicles but beware of dealers who say they can beat x plan but then they keep the rebates or add really high doc fees or other add-ons or they rip you off on the trade-in to make up the difference. Yes, you get the rebates in addition to the X plan price.
  19. Ask the dealer for a quote on the same vehicle on X plan. No way for us to tell one way or the other.
