  1. Me? Drove manuals since 1979 and owned 2 manual rangers. Not sure what that would matter though.
  2. Then you obviously don't rest your left foot on the brake pedal like some other LFB. But I have to ask - why?
  3. You guys ever hear of a thing called a "Ford Dealer"? I've heard they actually have Ford parts like wheel studs. :D
  4. So it's only cracked a little bit maybe?
  5. I recognize that license plate........ Congrats! We picked up my daughter's Focus on July 4th.
  6. PLEASE tell me the manual doesn't say "breaking"
  7. I took the rebate, then refinanced and paid off the FMC loan within the first month or two - no penalties whatsoever (this is in GA). Regarding the invoice pricing on Edmunds and KBB - be aware these do not include the FDAF advertising fee which is a legitimate dealer cost paid by the dealer to Ford. This is usually around $450 or so. So you have to add that to any of the online dealer invoice pricing and be sure to include destination. So if the dealer is $450 or so higher than edmunds and kbb the dealer is probably correct.
  8. Never heard that before. All accessories that come with automotive power point plugs run off 12V. If the device needs less that will be handled by the device's charger cord, not the car. You should have no problem wiring in a new receptacle straight to the fuse box. Check the specs on your Garmin and see how much amperage it draws at full power. It's probably way way less than any of the existing fuses (if it was an actual cigarette lighter that would be a different story). Get a fusetap and a cheap 12V voltage detector (or go ahead and spring for a voltmeter - it comes in really handy). Then just test the fuses to see which one behaves the way you want it to (off with ignition off, on with ignition on), apply the fusetap, route the wires and mount the receptacle and you're done. You can also hide the receptacle in the console if you can get the Garmin charger cord into it also.

  10. Synthetic blend 5W-20 Motorcraft. Under the right conditions it could easily last 15K miles. But it could also only last 5K under the wrong circumstances. The Edge computer calculates cold starts, temp, RPM, etc. to determine the right time to change it. It doesn't actually sample the oil like more expensive systems.
  11. To be fair it does say to go by the monitor but it says the monitor should not go beyond 1 year or 10K miles. 10K miles should be no problem depending on operating circumstances, but I agree 15K is pushing it.
  12. I thought the owner's manual said to change the oil when the vehicle says to change the oil.
  13. Let me also clear up this misperception - you can't FORCE a dealer to accept X plan on anything. It's 100% voluntary. They can accept or deny X plan on any vehicle. Also - when you use A/Z/D/X plan the dealer gets a spiff check from Ford (usually $400 or so) so they could actually be making more from a X plan sale even though your price is lower. So that was probably more the reason they accepted it rather than your threat.
  14. I just bought my daughter a 2012 Focus (ordered from my long time local salesman). When it came in I told him I needed to go get my PIN and he said no worries, I can generate it for you. And he did. He had all the X plan partner codes and knew my employer. He asked for my email address and he actually generated the PIN for me (with my permission) from the fordpartner.com website. I got a confirmation email. I'm sure that's what the dealer did in this case, too - assuming he knew who pearlybaker worked for and they are in fact a Ford partner. pearlybaker - did you get an email confirming your X plan PIN? If not you need to find out where the dealer got the X plan pin.
  15. Sounds like the dealer was buying down the interest rate, similar to paying points on a mortgage.
  16. Yes it's normal. In addition to the tires it seems the 6F trannies have a large amount of movement in the parking pawl design (it works just like putting a stick into your bicycle spokes). It's a combination of both that yields the 4" travel. It is normal in the sense that it's designed that way even though it's more than other vehicles.
  17. You get all publicly available incentives and sometimes there are x plan specific incentives on top of that - usually when there is dealer cash involved. But the rules for the other qualified rebates are the same and most of those can't be used with X plan (college grad, aqha, etc.).
  18. If you read the words around the table, it's telling you that you should change the oil and filter per the message center which could be anywhere between 6 months and 5K miles to 1 year 10K miles. When you change the oil you should also do the other things listed including rotating the tires.
  19. Oops. My bad. I thought it said "had the SD card in the slot in the console."
  20. It's either the battery terminal connection that needs to be cleaned (use a baking soda/water mixture then rinse very well to get rid of the corrosion, then remove and clean the terminals) or the battery itself. Did you check the battery fluid level? Ours was toast a few months ago (also an 08) and we had to replace the battery. Charging won't help if the cells are dead.
  21. Wheel bearing? I think I have the same problem. It's fairly common - try the search function.
