  1. That wasn't what VinceL was saying. He was saying that it would have been nice if the MKX had heated and cooled REAR seats like the MKT does.
  2. I think the implication was that it was WAY more complicated than that to actually troubleshoot a bad fan. And since he's a technician I'd take his word for it. Let's just leave it at that.
  3. Check the other sync forums (syncmyride.com, fordsyncforum.com).
  4. Could be power - does it work off the home computer's USB interface only? I think it also has to be FAT32.
  5. If I was it would be "da!" instead of "Voila"...............
  6. It's not redundant. You can use the keypad to lock the IA key in the car and even if a thief breaks in they can't use the IA key to start the vehicle until you've used the keypad to unlock it again.
  7. I handed Doug a Build Your Own Summary printout and a deposit check. 5 weeks later he called and said "it's here". Our dealership is awesome.
  8. They don't do it as a rule but I'm sure there are exceptions for specific applications in specific vehicles. I thought someone had already checked on the power liftgate wiring and said it wasn't there.
  9. I didn't think the clunk was related to the ptu leaks.
  10. Nothing more than an ambulance chaser trying to drum up business. Reports of failures on new vehicles the last 2 years have been few and far between. And most repaired vehicles seem to be fine once they are repaired with the latest kit. It would not stop me from buying one if I needed AWD.
  11. Not exactly. Ford took over the development from BSQUARE (a company founded by former MS developers). Microsoft is assisting Ford in the rewrite.
  12. Yes, it checks for rebates and incentives. It uses the Vehicle VIN so if it was ordered you'd need to wait until the VIN is assigned. Otherwise you can just use a similar vehicle on the lot. Only a dealer has access.
  13. No wonder you were mad. I thought it was Designated Husband - like a Designated Hitter in baseball.
  14. The new MKZ and a refreshed MKS and MKT will be shown between now and the Detroit Auto Show and will arrive sometime in 2012. Not sure when the rest will arrive. The only big change I expect for the MKX would be unique styling on the doors, roof and glass so that it doesn't look just like an Edge from side profile, plus all the new luxury features. Word is they will also have new drivetrain technology with huge increases in fuel economy. Should be interesting.
  15. Fixed it for you. Don't want people getting the wrong idea......
  16. Yeah, that was a joke. Dingo lives about 5 miles from me. I don't actually want the speaker.
  17. Any dealer who doesn't like X plan should be carefully scrutinized. They get an extra $400-$500 for a X plan sale so unless they're able to sell the cars for close to MSRP - you have to wonder why they'd turn down all that extra profit for a guaranteed sale? Typically it means they're making more money on the deal elsewhere which isn't allowed on X plan sales (add-ons, doc fees, required options, etc.). Caveat Emptor. On the trade-in value: X plan is about $150 above dealer invoice with a minimal doc fee. This isn't wholesale but it's nowhere near full retail price either. You're never really getting more than wholesale value from a trade-in unless it's some rare vehicle that's really hard to find. Think about it - the dealer can go to the auction and get a dozen used vehicles similar to yours (ok, maybe 1 or 2 like your 650i) so why would they pay you much more than auction (wholesale) price? With X plan they just can't fiddle with the price of the new car to make it appear that you're getting more on your trade-in price. That said, sometimes dealers just don't want a car and they'll lowball you. And some may really want your car and give you more. Since X plan is the same price at every dealer you can shop the trade around and do the deal with the one who has the best trade-in price.
  18. They also get kickbacks from Ford Credit on a finance - that's why there were pushing it (in addition to your potential $1K rebate). I did that with my Fusion - financed it to get the rebate and dealer spiff, then refinanced with my bank after 3 months.
  19. Edmunds and KBB invoice numbers do not include FDAF (advertising) which is a legitimate factory charge. It's typically around $500 or so. I have the actual X plan prices from the Fordpartner website and I used the formula to calculate the true dealer invoice. X plan = true dealer invoice minus 0.4% (that's 4/10 of one percent, not 4 percent) plus $275. $36,062 minus 0.4% plus $275 = $36192. Add $600 for advertising and you're close to $36800. As for market value - don't bother. Rebates and trade in allowances vary so much that's not a good statistic. If you forget about dealer holdback (they have to make some profit) then your lowest price would be true dealer invoice minus rebates. If they're selling well you might have to pay $500 over invoice or higher. Just depends on local market conditions.
  20. If you're happy then you did great! I'd insist on the 2.11 upgrade. It may save you a trip back later.
