  1. The current updates also take 45 minutes. It's a lot of data.
  2. If it can be done it would be in the SCT tuner. And we all know you're not really going to be taking it to a track every time you want to go over 110, just like you didn't the first time. Like Waldo said, there are lots of different reasons that Ford would limit the top speed (more than just the tire rating) and you simply don't know enough about the vehicle to know that it's safe above that speed. Going that fast in a sports car on public roads is dangerous. Doing it in a tall crossover that wasn't designed to go that fast in the first place is just asking for trouble. I realize you probably don't care but I had to get that off my chest.
  3. Wow - quite the conspiracy theorist lately. I think if it needed more power they would have done that for the 2013 models going forward and left the 2011-12 models as is. They're going to upgrade at some point anyway. The results from the Alpha testers seem to agree that the performance issues are gone, although I don't remember if they tested nav specifically. If I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it. Well of course all they have to do is load the nav software. That's the easy part. The hard part is getting a stand alone package that a dealer can sell and install independently and making sure it can't easily be hacked. Same for the web browser - it's not hard to add one. But the resources to do both were busy fixing problems which were more important.
  4. I don't think the cost to upgrade the processor would be significant enough to outweigh the potential continued damage to Ford's reputation. I guess we'll find out next year. And the reason we never got a Nav upgrade or a web browser is that they were too busy trying to fix the problems (at first) and once they decided to rewrite the software it didn't make sense to do it then. I suspect both will be available with the new software.
  5. Go to crutchfield.com. They're known as 5x7/6x8.
  6. A lot of people have reported significant improvements with 2.11 so I don't think it's fair to say it doesn't fix anything - although it may not have fixed your specific issues.
  7. If it can be installed from a USB flash drive then it can be downloaded from syncmyride.com just like the current updates. You should not have to go to the dealer. Doing it this way keeps most of the load off the servers which will make it easier for those who have to download. I also think there is a legal issue with mailing software out of country.
  8. Not recommended. At least it wasn't on previous vehicles. It can interfere with the sensor.
  9. That's not the new MFT update. That won't be ready until Spring.
  10. Wouldn't he need speaker level inputs on the amp? Or was there another piece that I missed?
  11. Pay no attention to the salesman behind the desk. Ford adds incentives including subsidized leases for a number of reasons, but chasing a particular sales volume number for Lincoln is not one of them. They don't even do that with Fords any more. In the end, it's a crapshoot whether the deals will get better or worse. If you can afford to wait and see, then wait and see. If you like the deal now then you might want to pull the trigger now. But I wouldn't make that decision based on any speculation about future incentives because that info is never released to anybody including the dealers.
  12. If there were hardware issues I think they would have addressed that with the 2013 models. They didn't - which says the problem was the application software. I guarantee you one thing - they won't be shipping this one unless it works.
  13. I wonder if it's a legal issue. You're generally not allowed to ship software out of the country so they'd have to set up a separate facility to create and ship the Canadian orders in Canada. Probably easier to just let them do a manual download with the smaller volumes.
  14. I thought there was a way to limit rear hatch travel. Try a search here or on google.
  15. I didn't see that quote. I still think Canadians would be able to download it from the website just like they do today.
  16. Nowhere have I seen any reference to only sending the flash drives to U.S. customers. However - you would still be able to download it from the website and install it yourself. I suspect they don't want to kill the servers and network having everyone download such a large update at the same time, so sending out the flash drives solves several problems. I don't see why you would be forced to take it to the dealer if it fits on a flash drive and can be self-installed. And while there were problems on the Ford side - there were a lot of problems with individual dealers not having the right cables, internet access and suitable computers. Personally I think most dealers simply didn't prepare well enough because they either didn't understand that this was new technology requiring more advanced support or just chose not to invest the time and money to get ready. There were plenty of dealers who had very few problems after the initial problems were fixed.
  17. That will get you 3 extra years then.
  18. What in the world gives you the idea it's only for the U.S.? Of course Canadian Edges would be included. If you have experienced a lack of support on MFT then it must be your dealer, not Ford. Ford has provided at least 6 updates in the last year. Do you have 2.11 yet?
  19. Assuming you drive 12K miles per year, that warranty only added 2 years to the non powertrain components. That's why it's cheaper. The extended warranty wouldn't have to deal with powertrain and the non powertrain components would only be covered for an extra 2 years (from 3/36 to 5/60).
  20. If you have separate tweeters they're mounted on the inside of the door right next to the side mirror. On the pre-2011 models they're in a separate black enclosure with speaker holes - not sure about the 2011. I do know that Ford likes to count 2-way door speakers as 2 speakers. I had an 11 speaker setup in my Lincoln LS - 4 2-way door speakers plus 2 subwoofers plus a center channel speaker. In your case you either have separate tweeters or they're counting the front door speakers as 2 speakers each and the rears as 1. Assuming you don't have separate subs.
  21. They didn't in my 08. The crossover was in the door speaker and only one channel went to each door. That may have changed for the new models.
  22. It's one dealer - not all of Ford. I'm sure they'll resolve it soon.
  23. No idea. They're typically sold as part of a component speaker kit - that's why I recommended switching to components.
  24. Yes, you'll need a crossover if you want to keep the factory tweeters. The factory door speakers have the crossover built-in. What you should have done for the fronts is to get a 5.25 or 6.5 component kit which includes a new tweeter and the crossovers. You might want to consider sending back the 5x7s and going with a component setup. Otherwise you'll have to ditch the factory tweeters or add crossovers to filter out the lower frequencies from the tweeter feed.
