  1. That was directed at the person who accused me of censorship.
  2. This is for new information as it becomes available. Nothing concrete other than what's already been reported.
  3. This thread is for sharing information about the upcoming rewrite and new release for the My Ford Touch and My Lincoln Touch software. If you want to complain about it please go here.
  4. Ok - you want a sandbox where you can bitch and gripe with each other? Do it here and I'll stay out of it. I'll start another thread for the people who just want reliable information without having to listen to all of the crap.
  5. I haven't deleted or edited any posts. I won't let this turn into a personal bitchfest. If that's all you want to do then go to Facebook or start your own forum. Feel free to share and discuss any factual information about the rewrite that all Edge owners might be interested in.
  6. Neither one of us knows for sure how they set up the timing, but if they say in the owner's manual that Premium yields better performance then the only possible explanation is that the PCM is able to advance the timing to take advantage of the higher octane. You see this in luxury vehicles all the time - except they advertise the higher power on Premium and they must advertise the fact that Premium is either required or recommended. Ford has specifically chosen to advertise Regular fuel only as a marketing advantage. People don't like to be forced to buy premium fuel. You can easily set it up for Premium and retard the timing for Regular. Of course it could be a misprint in the owner's manual too.
  7. And everyone else finds all of the speculation and hand wringing about something that hasn't even been released yet to be annoying. All I'm asking is to wait and see how the new version performs before complaining about it. Sharing information is fine but you don't have to make wild assumptions and complain constantly.
  8. Correct. It means the factory PCM tune will advance the timing to take advantage of the higher octane to provide a slight power increase.
  9. It's not an assumption - it's been reported by multiple inside sources including one to me personally that Microsoft was being brought in to rewrite the software. It's all moot speculation until we see the new product.
  10. I don't see how you can make that assumption. I believe the underlying software was rewritten due to the extent of the bugs. That's a ridiculous statement. Ford totally screwed up but they've been putting forth a huge effort to get it fixed, starting with at least 6 new software releases in less than a year and a totally new version in just over a year including bringing in Microsoft. You can't rewrite complicated software like this in a month or two - it takes at least 6 months and sometimes longer. I realize owners with problems are not happy and want to vent but let's keep it accurate.
  11. The 2011 Edge and 2012 Focus are new vehicles. The 2012 Edge isn't much different from the 2011.
  12. Not really. Ford would love to hold their dealers accountable for anything but the fact is that state automotive franchise laws that were enacted decades ago protect the dealers from Ford. Ford can't control the dealers or tell them how to run their business. Unless the dealer is doing something illegal their hands are tied. There is nothing Ford can do about it.
  13. This is what Ford hears. "Hey - I had this problem with my car so I changed the PCM and all the coils on my own and now I want you to pay for it." How do they know you diagnosed it correctly? How do they know it wasn't a wire gnawed by a rat? Now multiply your situation by hundreds that happen every year (maybe thousands) and you should be able to understand why Ford can't just take your word for it. I think if you had a dealer diagnosis before the repair was performed then it would be a different response. If you still don't understand Ford's position then you're not being logical. And I do hope you get the dealer to reimburse you for the parts since they lied to you.
  14. My only issue is your assertion that Ford is purposely denying a claim that they know is valid. I don't believe that because they have fixed others and covered it under the emissions warranty with no questions asked. It's all in how the dealer presents it to Ford. All Ford sees is that you replaced some parts on your own and you don't have a dealer standing up for you saying that it was the PCM that was bad in the first place and that all the coils had to be replaced. You don't have a Ford dealer diagnosis that says the PCM is bad. Ford's position on this is understandable given the circumstances. I'm not blaming you because you checked with the dealer. I'm blaming the dealer and that's who I think you should sue IF you have the evidence of what they told you.
  15. Sounds like the dealer screwed you, not Ford. If you have the TSB and proof they said it wasn't covered by the emissions warranty then you should have an open and shut small claims case against the dealer. Ford is totally dependent on the dealer's diagnosis and in this case there is no way for them to determine whether the problem was the PCM per the TSB or not. Again - the TSB doesn't change the warranty - it's just saying that the PCM is covered by either the bumper to bumper or the emissions warranty. Had your dealer confirmed a bad PCM I believe Ford would have repaired it under warranty. If you have the original parts you could see if another Ford dealer could help you before resorting to a lawsuit.
  16. I'm not aware of other Navigation radio versions unless somebody put in an aftermarket version. Can you post some pictures?
  17. That's not the new Lincoln design - the MKS was just a refresh and was done before Wolff took over. We'll see Wolff's first design on the new MKZ at the Detroit Auto Show. Here is a sneak preview. This should be the new face of Lincoln going forward as each new vehicle gets a full redesign.
  18. Go to http://motorcraftservice.com -> Owner Guides, select 2007 Edge and view the Navigation Supplement. It shows the screen shots.
  19. It's in the Navigation supplement. FM->Show Options->RDS
  20. Nobody is telling anyone how to feel. As of right now all of the facts point to a successful rewrite. Until we have more facts to go on it's pointless to speculate.
  21. That's a limitation of iOS, not sync. Sync has supported SMS text messages since 2008. iOS doesn't support the right Bluetooth profile yet (unless that was fixed in iOS 5) Done. The system no longer has to reboot when you start the car. It just hibernates and then wakes up. Should be a lot faster. My understanding is that there are technical satellite limitations and regulatory issues preventing sync services in Canada - not a marketing decision.
  22. So you have to pull out your keyfob, unlock the doors, then kick to open? Without the automatic unlocking of the IA system this just doesn't seem useful to me.
  23. What exactly were the symptoms and what was replaced and by whom? The TSB itself doesn't dictate what is or isn't covered by the warranty - it only tells technicians how to fix specific problems. Either the parts are covered by the warranty or not. It doesn't make sense that Ford would pay other claims but deny yours without some extenuating circumstances (or the dealer screwed up). I'm just trying to understand the problem. This doesn't make sense.
  24. Sounds like the wiring to the driver's door has a loose connection.
