Not sure what to tell you. The 2012 Edge just went into production this past August and I haven't seen any dates for the 2013 model yet. You should ask for a copy of the DORA - that's the confirmation from Ford that the vehicle has been ordered. It's possible they'll start making the 2013s early next year but Ford would have already announced those dates and published the order guide and neither one has happened yet.

I don't think so. They haven't started making 2013 Edges yet. It must be a 2012.

X Plan Money Factor....27 momth lease on 2012
akirby replied to RJG's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
It just means they're subsidizing the 27 month lease more than the 36 month lease. Doubtful you would do any better than X plan but the dealer could run it both ways. The only negotiable part of a Red Carpet Lease is the acquisition cost of the vehicle itself which is already fixed with X plan. You could always compare prices using the same vehicle and same terms including the down payment but I'd be surprised if you got a lower rate than X plan especially if they're already subsidizing it. -
Have you tried a different key? It sounds like either the PATS system doesn't recognize the key or the instrument cluster is hosed. Did you check all of the fuses including the ones under the hood?

New FORD EDGE SEL 2012- Need Specifications - HELP!!!
akirby replied to sayoojt's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
MFT is My Ford Touch and includes Sync. Could not figure out PDC or RR. -
You don't need sensors in the combustion chamber - you only need knock sensors. The software advances the timing until it detects knocking. Premium fuel allows the timing to be advanced more than regular fuel. If the rest of the system is tuned to take advantage of the advanced timing then you can get more performance.

ford key programmer
akirby replied to surferd15's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
You have it backwards. You don't program the keys to the car - the car learns the keys. Each key is unique and each key's code is added to the computer. You can wipe out the learned keys and learn new ones. The tool you're describing simply clones an already learned key. It works but it's not the right solution. If you buy a 3rd key you can add it yourself and then if you lose one you can buy one anywhere, have it cut and add it to the car yourself. Only a Ford dealer can program a new key to the car if you only have one key. Having a 3rd key gives you a backup and allows you to do all the programming yourself. -
ford key programmer
akirby replied to surferd15's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Which one? You don't program the key - the car learns each key. As long as you have two working keys you can add another one yourself without any help. If this is a duplicator that clones the chip in an existing key that's not a good idea because if you lose a key you can't remove that one key from the vehicle programming without removing both of them. -
Didn't realize that was the law in Canada.

MyFord Touch Updates set for 1st Qtr. 2012
akirby replied to HFord57's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
So what happens when you press the touch screen and the hardware registers a touch? The software has to interpret it and do something. 98% of poor performance is due to poorly written software. They're also using more hardware acceleration. My daughter's new Focus has MFT and the touch response time is fine - and that's on the current hw/sw. It's locked up twice but no other problems so far. -
It doesn't matter where the accident occurred - it's still covered. It just means that it's 100% your fault. No police report needed. I would suggest reporting it to your insurance agent and getting a repair estimate. As long as you don't file a claim it won't hurt your premiums and the insurance company can give you advice on getting it fixed either way. They can probably even recommend a repair facility. Once you know how much it will cost you can decide if you want to file a claim or not.
-
2013 Escape should be available at dealers by April. Since you're not thrilled with the new Edge I'd say it's worth waiting to see it before making a decision. You could always lease a new Edge for 27 or 39 months.
-
You don't have to report it but if the airbag deployed that indicates potentially serious damage. You don't need a dealer or mechanic - you need a body shop with experience in accident damage repair. Find one and get an estimate then decide if you want to file an insurance claim or not.

2011 Edge/MKX My Touch and Sync Problems
akirby replied to akirby's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Also understand that Ford has been working on this for close to a year and without any pressure from a new product launch to push it out the door before it's ready. They're also using 1000 Ford employees as beta testers. Knowing Ford's management I don't think they'll allow that mistake to be made twice. -
I bought a 8 gb stick on sale at Target (Sony) for $15. Put all 550 of my daughter's songs on it and it works great including the playlists. Itunes Export is freeware that copies the songs and playlist from itunes and converts them to the correct format. Works great.
-
That's the point - you don't know which parts of the system can withstand the higher speeds and which can't. There is a reason they have a speed limiter.

Have you considered a USB drive (assuming you only want to listen in the car)?

Downloading songs to 2011 Edge Limited
akirby replied to CCTraveler's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The 2010 has a hard drive based navigation that allows you to store songs on part of the hard drive. The 2011 doesn't have such a feature. Import all your CDs into iTunes, then use iTunes Export to copy them to a usb drive. Plug in the USB drive and you'll have all your music available all the time with all the voice control features including playlists. -
They're not any more susceptible to that type of damage than any other wheel. I've never had a problem with 18s nor have I heard of anyone having problems.
-
I think you're in the minority and the majority of buyers would prefer the bling of the 22s to actual performance.

Nope. Sorry.

Cold air intake or just K&N for better fuel economy?
akirby replied to rltrbill's topic in 2010 Edge & MKX
You can't dyno fuel economy and there is NO way a tune will yield a 3-5 mpg gain. No way. -
MFT Overhaul Press Release
akirby replied to phantom9000's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
He could tell you but he'd have to kill you. If Waldo says it, believe it. -
The MyFordTouch updates are applicable to 2011s and 2012s - no worries there. Nothing's been released on the 2013s and probably won't be for several months.

MFT Overhaul Press Release
akirby replied to phantom9000's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I don't think you can mail software from the U.S. to Canada or any other country - that may be part of the reason.
