  1. APIM is the control module that actually runs the MFT software. There were numerous problems with them initially.
  2. I guess I assumed this was a Ford CPO type warranty but bbf2530 is correct - if it's not a Ford warranty you don't want it regardless.
  3. Once you get MFT nav is only a $800 option which is a lot cheaper than it used to be. There are advantages to having it built-in and integrated with the voice commands and large screen. The downside is map updates are expensive ($200) and MFT has been problematic although that should be fixed within the next month or two. It really comes down to convenience (integrated, larger screen, voice commands, etc.) versus smaller, cheaper and more flexible but not integrated.
  4. $2k may not be that high if you're talking about an additional 4 yrs/48K miles. That's the equivalent of a factory ESP of 7 yrs/100K miles which typically runs $1500-$2000. And you're beyond the 3/36K bumper to bumper warranty so it should be higher. I can't think of any expensive known issues with a 08 FWD model other than wheel bearings and those are way less than $2K to fix. If there are others I've overlooked someone will speak up.
  5. Not here you won't. You've made your point and shared your information already - multiple times. Enough is enough. Nothing you post here is going to have any impact with Ford. If you have new information to share or a resolution please post it - otherwise let it be.
  6. You do not have built-in navigation - that's a different head unit. What you're looking for is called Sync Services. The info should be available on the syncmyride.com website if it's available for your model. You must activate it there and tie it to your cell phone.
  7. Yes. Here is the original thread from 2009: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/3905-found-it/
  8. Miata.net looks correct to me. The math on the other one doesn't add up. 1 mile = 5280 feet x 12 = 63,360 inches divided by 91.2 (circumference) = 695 (not 716).
  9. That's available now except for the map updates. Those typically have to be purchased for around $200. And it's not just Ford - other mfrs are similar. Not sure why.
  10. If resale value was ONLY based on the model year then it would make a big difference. But mileage is also a big factor. If the vehicle is virtually unchanged there will be little difference between a normal mileage 2013 or a low mileage 2012. I did the comparison on an older Explorer a few years ago (same purchase date and mileage but different model years) and I think the difference was less than $300. Mileage is a big factor.
  11. Ford is switching their normal model year turnover to late winter/early spring so the new models arrive shortly after they're shown at the auto shows. It doesn't hurt resale value or residual value. Just because it's always been September doesn't mean that was any better.
  12. Same here - 08 Edge, 99 Expedition and 97 Explorer. I don't understand it either. Never had that problem with the 03 Aviator though (just everything else).
  13. Yes, it could be MFT but that's not a MFT symptom that I've heard before. But go ahead and vent if it makes you feel better.
  14. I'm not going to look for them but I've read a few here and some on other forums. Most reported a slight improvement in response time. Others have reported worse problems with 2.11 so maybe those with early success had problems later.
  15. Ford sees to be moving towards February-April intros across the board. This allows the new models to hit the streets soon after the Detroit, Chicago and New York auto shows.
  16. You can't go by voltage - you have to do a load test. But since yours is a 2009 I'd be a lot of money that it is the battery. It's only $100 and 15 minutes and if it doesn't fix it you still have a new battery for several years and you've ruled it out as a cause.
  17. 2013 order guide still says no tow package for the 2.0 EB. Could be any number of reasons including marketing.
  18. I believe we owe your ENCS contact an apology. According to Joey (ice-capades) over on BlueOvalForums the Edge is scheduled to begin production next February. Here are the current dates: 11/14/2011 2013 Edge Order Bank Open Date 01/12/2012 2013 Edge Scheduling Begins 02/13/2012 2013 Edge - Job #1 Date Here is a link to the order guide. No major changes that I can see. This is highly unusual for 2 reasons. First, Joey usually posts these order guides as soon as they're available along with the production dates. I guess since there were no major changes it wasn't post worthy. Second, there are no major changes for the 2013 model - it's basically a carry over model. There is no logical reason why it's being released in February which is just 7 months after the 2012 model debuted. I'm sure we'll hear more at the Detroit Auto Show. As long as the job 1 date doesn't slip you may actually see your 2013 Edge in May or June. Good luck!
  19. Z plan (and A/X/D plan) buyers get the same public rebates as non plan buyers. Some private cash offers and restricted offers (college grad, etc.) are not available with Z plan. However, in some cases plan buyers get additional rebates not available to non plan buyers. Only the dealer can tell you the rebates you qualify for as this is based on the vehicle being purchased, your zip code and the purchase date. They use a system called VINCENT to get this info.
  20. The only thing scheduled to begin production in February 2012 is the new ESCAPE (not the Edge). I think your contact is confused. I PM'd a dealer contact over at blueovalforums.com for the most current information. He's the one that posts all the order guides and production dates (he's the internet manager at a Ford dealership) so he will have the official information from Ford so we can clear this up.
  21. The problem is the May delivery date. At this point it appears the 2013s won't be available until summer or early fall.
  22. Exactly. Some people have had lots of problems, some have had almost none. Most are probably in the middle and have had some problems but not serious ones. It's not worth debating over and over and over.
