My Ford Touch New Software Release
akirby replied to tjbron's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
That sounds like just a regurgitation of the official "1st quarter" date that's been floating around for some time now. I don't think this is new info or confirmation that it definitely won't arrive for 2 more months. I do believe they'll delay it this time rather than release it with any known bugs and if that takes an extra 2 months then that's what they'll do. -
What vehicle did you drive previously (make/model/drivetrain/year) and what was your average mpg?
-
IIRC the issue wasn't advertised EPA mileage vs. actual. The problem was as the hybrid batteries aged the mileage went down considerably. Meaning if they reran the EPA tests they wouldn't get anywhere near the EPA results. In other words - it was impossible to reach the EPA mileage even if you drove exactly like the EPA tests. As long as you can replicate the EPA tests and get the same results then it's not an issue.

The warranty is only for rust-through, not surface rust. Although it won't hurt to ask.

This is why I'm asking everyone to refrain from making comments about OTHER people's experiences. Nobody really knows what someone else is or isn't experiencing therefore it creates unnecessary friction. And that works both ways. I would not allow anyone to tell the people who are having problems that they're not or that it's their fault.
-
I will not allow misinformation or personal attacks. Those are my rules. If you don't like them take it up with me via PM or leave. No need to continue whining about it publicly.

The problem is the people who have had bad experiences take everything that anybody else says totally out of context. Where have I EVER indicated that these MFT problems weren't real or that Ford wasn't 100% responsible? Where have I EVER indicated that Ford shouldn't fix these problems or suggested that the problems people weren't legitimate? The only thing I'm trying to "balance" here are the facts. If I point out that SOME people are not having major problems - that doesn't contradict the folks that ARE having major problems or vice versa. Like I've said before and tried to point out again and again SOME people have really bad continuing problems SOME people have had almost no problems (for whatever reason) MOST people are in between with varying levels of problems. The software is garbage. Ford screwed up big time. It's not acceptable. They're trying to fix it but it's slow. Hopefully this means they'll get it right this time but we'll have to wait and see. Now stick to the facts and your experiences and stop worrying about whether other people are or are not having problems or why. At this point the only thing that really matters is whether yours is working or not and when it gets fixed.

Something else you have in common with Bo Jackson.........other than the superstar thing........

The topic is MFT. Future comments not related to MFT and the upgrade will be deleted without comment. This is not up for debate. -
I was referring only to the few people here on the forum creating most of the negativity referenced by CaptKirk. Yes, there are plenty of people who are somewhat frustrated just as there are plenty of people who ARE satisfied as evidenced by recent posts. It's not all good or all bad but seems to run the gamut from no problems to really bad problems.
-
It's only a few people who have had really bad experiences. Hopefully this won't be an issue after the upgrade.
-
Why would you want a used hip? Oh.....you meant the cane! My bad.........
-
I'd be more impressed with a carbon fiber hip (with LEDs of course)....... Seriously though - good luck with the surgery. A co-worker just had his done and he's doing fine.

It's not being negative. It's making inaccurate statements and exaggerations that won't be tolerated. Bitch and gripe all you want just do it honestly. -

You implied it. Now drop it. Further posts will be deleted. I'm tired of arguing with you. -
Almost all Ford lug nuts are 100 ft/lbs

It hasn't been over 2 years since they announced the rewrite. Stop exaggerating. -
I feel certain that Ford will cover this upgrade at no charge. The dealer just hasn't seen the upgrade and notice yet.
-
Probably. Thanks for the clarification.

He emailed you yesterday. Did you not get it?

I had a 75 cutlass that wouldn't start and I was told the timing chain broke. Maybe it only slipped a little. But I assume it is possible if rare.
-
I said it was all on Ford and Bsquare. Of course they knew how bad it was - they had a bug list with 1500 entries at one time. But they were caught between a rock and a hard place because MFT was integrated with the new Edge, Explorer and Focus so they either had to try and fix it or delay the new vehicles until it could be fixed and that simply wasn't a viable business option. There really wasn't a good solution - delay important new vehicles indefinitely (not that easy when suppliers and new tooling was already lined up) or put it out with known bugs and try to fix them quickly. It's easy to say they should have delayed it but it's just not that simple. And yes - regardless of who screwed up the software, it's Ford's responsibility and nobody is suggesting otherwise.

This thread is for information sharing only. If you want to gripe and complain please go here. Some comments have been moved there to keep this one on topic. -
Even timing chains can break so it does make a difference - although I doubt that's the problem in this case. Could be a crankshaft position sensor.

You're conveniently forgetting the iphone 4 antenna fiasco plus other iphone problems. I like apple products but they're not perfect either. And the problem with MFT is the application, not the operating system. And trust me - I hate microsoft but they're really not to blame in this case. It's all on Ford and Bsquare.
