  1. Not to mention if they're not outdated today they will be in another year or two. They don't stay current forever.
  2. I find it hilarious that people complain about roads not being in the database when they are roads near their house that they already know about or roads that they already travel. That's not a problem. The only problem is if you're looking for an address that you don't know and that's new and isn't in the database. And I think that is extremely rare. Happened to us a lot when we were looking for brand new subdivisions a couple of years ago but that would be the case with any maps because they were new within the last few months. I agree they could have made them free for all sync 3 owners but honestly I bet 98% of 15-17 owners wouldn't update anyway. Personally I've never paid for a map update.
  3. Best of all you can never be stuck locking the keys in the vehicle - you can open it in about 3 seconds (I always wanted Ford to do a commercial where two people lock their keys in their Ford and Chevy vehicles. The Ford owner puts in the code and drives away while the Chevy owner was looking for a cell phone to call OnStar). It's also handy to get something out without having to go get the key or to let someone else access the vehicle while you're not there. You can also drop the vehicle off somewhere for someone else to pick up (leaving the keys inside). Once you start using it you'll never want a vehicle without it.

    Battery issues

Make sure they use something like a Solar BA7 tester. The old style load testers don't work on modern batteries. You want to see the CCA rating compared to what it was new.
  5. Why would the date of the maps determine if you want Nav or not when the maps are update able? Either you want factory nav or you don't. Sometimes it's bundled, sometimes not. Depends on the vehicle and options.
  6. Just remember a drain and fill only gets about 1/3 of the fluid at a time.
  7. Go to owner.ford.com and see if you have any updates for sync 2 (also called MFT). You can download and apply them yourself. Make sure your iphones are up to date on so IOS software. If they're current do a hard reset by holding the power button and the home button for a few seconds. Next I would try a Master Reset (in the MFT menu) and re-pair the phones with MFT.
  8. The water pump has failed which is leaking coolant into the engine. Do a search for water pump and you'll see lots and lots of topics already posted. It's not a simple repair and the engine may have to be replaced. It's a 10 yr old vehicle - was the coolant ever changed?
  9. They're not going to risk blowing up the engine or tranny for a few extra hp from the factory. It's a safe tune designed to last 150K minimum. That said from what I've seen a 93 octane tune on ecoboost engines is quite noticeable even in everyday driving. How noticeable it would be for you is a question I can't answer.
  10. Did you try this forum? https://www.fordfusionforum.com/
  11. According to other posts he's just trying to do a normal sync/MFT software update, not maps.
  12. LMS doesn’t have to worry about long term durability or warrant repairs. If the solution was that simple Ford would have already fixed it.
  13. The first step is to see if the connector is there inside the door.
  14. On older Ford’s you were able to add the factory keypad and plug in the wiring but I don’t know if that works on the newer models with it integrated into the b pillar.
  15. Theyre not adjustable. They’re aimed that way on purpose to illuminate more of the shoulder and less of oncoming vehicles.
  16. Job 1 for the 2020 Edge is 9/30. You can order one now but it probably won’t arrive until December. Same for dealer stock. Here are all the Titanium features over and above the SEL standard features on US vehicles. I assume Canadian vehicles are similar.
  17. You can switch back and forth as much as you like without stopping.
  18. If you’re towing on hills I would use S so it doesn’t lug the engine and/or shift too much. It’s ok if the engine revs a little high for short periods, especially if going downhill so you don’t have to use the brakes as much. If S mode doesn’t provide enough power going uphill or enough engine braking going downhill then you can use the paddles to downshift. Once you use the paddles you’ll have to keep using them until you shift back to D. on level ground you can probably get away with D. You can also use the paddles in D mode to downshift temporarily and it will go back to automatic mode after a few seconds. No need to manually shift all the time unless you just enjoy it.
  19. Fair enough, but the type of failure is linked to internal gaskets/seals (as opposed to metal fatigue) and that is directly affected by the coolant. I know at least 2 200K+ mileage Edges on the original water pump that received regular coolant replacements. Given all that anecdotal evidence I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that 30K mile coolant changes will prevent this from happening at least 95% of the time. To me, it's a solution but if you want to call it something else then be my guest.
  20. I've never had Michelins that were noisy. The OEM 21" Pirellis on our MKX got really noisy at 20K miles but at the time there were no other all season alternatives so we're on our second set. So far so good.
  21. I understand a lot about troubleshooting, problem resolution and root cause analysis thanks to 33 years in IT. I’ve solved many software and hardware problems. If following the severe service maintenance schedule prevents the problem from occurring then that is a solution even if you don’t like it.
  22. Not worth moving. Most repairs should clear the CEL automatically. Some require multiple ignition/driving cycles. If it doesn't go off on its own in a few days go get the codes read again.
  23. It’s a ridiculous idea and an unnecessary risk. You can get an extractor for $25 or just suck on the hose.
  24. Pretty sure that was a rhetorical question.
