    Mustang SUV

I understand the point but Porsche and 911 were pretty much one and the same. They’re turning mustang into a sub brand with multiple vehicles. And it does get its own name - Mach-E. Just like you have the GT350, GT500 and upcoming hybrid mustang. It’s a way to emphasize the performance aspect of the Mach-e with some familiar styling and brand awareness. This thing will outperform most mustangs and it has mustang styling. They’re not changing the name or getting rid of the regular mustang coupe so I think all the angst is overblown.

You’re missing the point. Before Cayenne the name Porsche was synonymous with 2 door sports cars. They expanded to utilities and later the 4 door Panamera and it didn’t do a damn thing to tarnish the 911. Mach-E has the performance to make it worthy of the mustang brand name. Purists just need to get over it.

Exactly the same comment and analogy over on blueovalforums.com. I think it’s a great analogy.

    Are you stalking me? ?
  5. Mine just took about 5 seconds to open and it was on the my mkx screen ready to hit the start button. So while I had it out and the car was in the garage I tested it. Took about 15 seconds to start after I pressed the button and another 20 seconds to report back that it was started.
  6. Not exactly. That's just when the acknowledgement comes back. The app has to send the start message to the central server which then has to find and contact the vehicle over the cellular network, start the vehicle, report back to the central server which reports back to the app. In my experience that takes 30-45 seconds. The vehicle may have started 10 seconds after pressing the app button or 40 seconds - no way to really know if you can't see the vehicle.
  7. Umm....MKC has had the 2.3LEB option from day one, so that's nothing new. Or were you talking about the Corsair GT PHEV?
  8. It's a new sub brand strategy by Ford. There will be at least 3 Broncos - the Ranger based Bronco (2 door and 4 door), the smaller escape based Bronco Scout and a trucklet based on the Scout. There might be a pickup version like Jeep Gladiator down the road. You already have F series representing F150 and Superduty. It would not surprise me to see Ranger named F100 Ranger and added to the sub brand mix. Mustang already has unique variants in the GT350 and GT500. There will also be a hybrid Mustang in addition to the Mach-E. It might piss off a few Mustang purists but you can't deny the global name recognition and performance pedigree that comes with calling it Mustang. I think it would be a different story if it didn't offer amazing performance. Whether it works out like they expect - we'll just have to wait and see.
  9. if You’re close enough to see when it starts just use the fob instead of the app. I used it twice tonight from inside the building about 5 minutes before reaching the vehicle so I don’t know how long it took to start.
  10. I wasn’t talking about aftermarket parts for a new vehicle. I was saying why Ford Performance wasn’t going to invest anything in the current Edge.
  11. Written, not wrote. And the new cd4 Edge debuted with the 2.7L twin turbo engine. The new performance models will probably be hybrids like the Corsair and Aviator GTs.
  12. I think you'll see more on the new platform vehicles. Edge/Nautilus/Fusion/MKZ are all dead men walking on CD4 so they're just not going to invest much.
  13. The ST brand used to be completely separate from the main vehicle development teams where they would take a vehicle after it was completed and modify it (Focus/Fiesta ST e.g.). This is why those models lagged behind the new vehicle intro by a year or two. Now they've integrated the Ford Performance team and they're developing the ST versions at the same time as the normal versions replacing the "sport" models similar to what MB did with AMG. It's a different paradigm and there won't be as much market support for Edge and Explorer STs as there were for hot hatchbacks (especially globally).
  14. After you activate sync connect you’ll get the remote start option in the app.
  15. Edge is on a budget right now - funds have been diverted to other new models and projects. Next gen isn't due until 2023 MY. I wouldn't expect anything beyond what is already available.
  16. For those that don't know, hold the voice command button for 3 seconds and it activates Siri on your iphone.
  17. You don’t want to go with larger tires. Won’t help. You’d need to go minus size - 18 or 19 inch wheel with a correspondingly larger tire to keep the same overall diameter.
  18. No way to filter like that. You can try the forum search.
  19. I thought it might but wasn't 100% sure.
  20. There is a manual override to take the car out of park if the battery is dead. Same as current ones - you can't shift out of park if the brake shift interlock isn't powered so there is a manual override. It's in the owner's manual. One thing you get with the selector (and Lincoln push buttons) is that it will automatically put the vehicle in park when you turn it off. Not really a safety concern. Might be more safe.
  21. Dealer can pull up the repair history in Oasis. Sometimes it’s just a bad dealer who doesn’t know to fix the problem correctly.
