It only shows your own, not others. You could ping Robert to try and change it. -

It changes every time the software gets updated. I gave up trying to keep track of it. -
Don’t think I’ve heard of a PTU case cracking. That sounds like an impact of some kind unless it totally grenaded inside. As for the lifetime fluid (which really means 150k), an engineer told me the fluid was fine for that long if it didn’t overheat. The problem seems to be the tolerance of the parts sometimes adds up to too much friction and therefore heat which kills the fluid. Seems plausible to me.

Just call your dealer. -
It should not be shifting that hard. Do you have it in D or S?
-
Not how adaptive learning works. It adjusts shift pressure to keep performance within factory spec. It doesn’t adjust to driving styles.

Daughter had a 2012 SEL that she totaled within 6 months and replaced it with another 2012 SEL. The TCM went out almost stranding her. Otherwise there was some shuddering but it wasn't constant. We ended up trading it in on the 2016 MKX and giving her our old Escape.

The real problem was the 3.5L was designed as a replacement for the 3.0L but in smaller transverse vehicles they simply ran out of room for the external water pump. It was far cheaper to relocate it than redesign the engine bay. And by all accounts the problem seems to be the internal gears which were substandard and which were replaced later in production. Its easy to say something is stupid in hindsight but 33+ years in IT has taught me that it’s almost always a series of decisions that made sense at the time. The exception is the focus dual clutch tranny which was destined to fail from day one and everyone knew it but were afraid to change it.

It needs to be 60. I usually go 65 to have more of a buffer in case I forget to check it for awhile. Remember that narrow tire has to support the same weight and load as the full sized tire.

Love our 2010 Edge but Maintenance Costs Have Been High
akirby replied to Mary Ann's topic in Owner Impressions
I think you got overcharged on the routine maintenance. But I don't count regular maintenance items since those are pretty much the same for any vehicle. -
If you're already looking by turning your head (which you should always do regardless) then you don't need any type of extra alert. The light is an extra layer of safety. I would not want an audible alert personally, but I wouldn't mind if it was an option. What I do not like is Honda's solution which is to activate a camera in the center stack display. That is far too distracting to look at and interpret while driving.

Love our 2010 Edge but Maintenance Costs Have Been High
akirby replied to Mary Ann's topic in Owner Impressions
So other than wear items like tires, brakes and fluid changes and the hood replacement - what else was done? How much did you pay for the maintenance plan and how much did you pay the garage for service? That is WAY too high. 4 sets of tires should be less than $5K CAD. Regular service should only be $200/yr at most. -

22 THOUSAND dollars? Surely you missed a decimal point. -
The actuator goes to the correct location but is unable to keep the blend door in the correct position so it slowly closes (or opens all the way). Picture a hydraulic floor jack with a slow leak. You can jack the car up to the desired height but after a few minutes it will drop back down.

Slammed on brakes...now brakes squishy!
akirby replied to HarvNasty's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Because the failed booster allows pressure to leak from the master cylinder. -
No recourse. It's a warranty issue - if you are outside the limited factory warranty or the extended warranty then you have to pay for any repairs. This is no different than any other defect.

Auto Control Assistance Explanation Needed ...
akirby replied to SDguy2020's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
As stated above it dehumidifies the air which is then warmed to the correct temp. Running the ac keeps the seals from drying out and actually extends the life. It’s a good thing. -
2011 Edge limited Driver door ajar issue
akirby replied to Racerb0y's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
What specifically does the letter say is covered? On the Fusion it was for the failure of the door latch to stay closed, not for the door ajar warning message. The door ajar problem may not be covered. -
Ford Edge Driver Door Latch recall?
akirby replied to Latrece370's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Does it specifically state the door ajar warning is covered? I thought it was the same as Fusion - the door latch itself fails and you can't close the door, which is a pretty rare occurrence. Not the door ajar sensor issue. -
Low Oil Pressure warning keeps coming on!!!
akirby replied to vtchopperdude's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
I'm not aware of any automatic engine shutdown for low oil pressure. I think it's the shutdown triggering the oil light and the throttle body is the most likely culprit. -

Do they come on when the passenger door is opened? On later models there is a switch on the overhead console. -
Mustang Mach-E First Edition Reservation Facts
akirby replied to Ford Super News Ticker's topic in Super News Ticker
They have both a hybrid/phev Edge and another electric midsized crossover coming in a couple of years. But this is a performance vehicle that will outperform a mustang GT. And people will call it Mach-E, not Mustang. I suspect there will be another Mustang branded sporty vehicle as well. F series in the 70s meant 2 door regular cabs. Nowadays everybody wants 4 door crew cabs. Bronco will launch with both 2 and 4 door models as well as an Escape based Bronco Sport.
