  1. The factory does a better than average job with the intake and exhaust and people doing just intake and exhaust changes have reported very little if any power gains. This is different than other vehicles in the past. And most people wouldn’t consider a 5-10 hp bump as considerate or worth the extra cost.
  2. to each his own. I much prefer the current one.
  3. I didn’t mean to imply that was all it changed. Just explaining that the main power boost came from advanced timing and/or more boost and why ethanol allowed that.
  4. Fundamentally the tune is just advancing the timing and the more advanced the higher octane required. Ethanol has super high octane ratings - E85 is something like 108 octane. E30 would be in between premium at 93 and E85 at 108. Also allows more turbo boost without detonation. But you MUST run the required octane level.
  5. What year? Assume it's a 2013 or later? You can probably get a 2017 Fusion Sport with the 2.7L pretty cheap.
  6. Don’t assume the wiring is there. It probably isn’t. The PCM software has to be reflashed at a minimum. Not worth the hassle.
  7. You're damn lucky the engine is still running. How do you go 5 years without changing the oil? Change oil and filter with fresh motorcraft 5W20 blend. Run it long enough to get it up to temp for 15 or 20 minutes. Change the oil again. Keep doing that until the oil stays clean. Then resume diagnostics.
  8. Are you saying that the oil hasn’t been changed in 5 years?!?!
  9. That’s why you should remove the master code card from the vehicle. Previous owners do have the code but except in rare cases they don’t know your address so it doesn’t matter. Ex spouse is the most likely scenario where they know the code and the vehicle location and may have bad intentions. The dealer should be able to change it.
  10. Point dashcam at drivers door and have her arrested for breaking and entering.
  11. Compressor is what runs off the engine belt and generates the high pressure. The high pressure gas goes to the Condenser behind the radiator where it releases the heat to the air before sending it back into the vehicle through the expansion valve where it cools before going to the evaporator coil and blower. The reason the compressor runs in winter is twofold: one is to keep the system lubricated and the other is to dehumidify the air. This keeps the windows from fogging up when it’s wet outside. The system still warms the air after it’s been dehumidified so it’s not a problem.
  12. Probably the purge valve and it may have contaminated the canister as well.
  13. I really don’t understand why people are so hell bent on using a different filter. There is zero performance or cost benefit and no reason to think that durability is an issue with OEM if you maintain factory oil change intervals. But there is a significant risk of damaging your engine with the wrong or bad filter.
  14. If you start the edge with the fob then take it out it will warn you with a double honk. It will continue to run until you turn it off at which time you have 20 seconds to restart it without the key (warning pops up in the cluster). After that you’re stuck. That’s why I don’t like disabling the double honk. But I agree there is no way the car started without the fob in the vehicle at some point,
  15. There must be very minor differences in the 8f35 and 8F40. Does Bronco sport use the 8f40 with the 2.0l? They don’t offer the 2.3L yet but I suspect it’s coming in a performance version similar to big Bronco warthog.
  16. Exactly - vehicle weight doesn't really matter as it's based on the engine torque at the tranny input shaft. The more I think about it - I think they just removed 2nd gear from the 8F57 and will use that with the 2.3LEB or 2.7LEB on all future C2 based vehicles. What I can't seem to find out is what the 2.3LEB Lincoln Corsair is using. I would think it would also be a candidate for the 7F57 along with Bronco Sport and maybe Escape at some point. Also whatever the new Fusion turns out to be.
  17. I added a hidden hitch to my 2016 MKX and mine works every time just by kicking my foot in and up to touch the bottom of the bumper about a foot on either side of the hitch. I think I made a video - I'll see if I can find it. I think most people just aren't using the right motion.
  18. I think they look fantastic. The sloped roof is one of best features. To each his own.
  19. This is more info than I’ve ever seen published publicly. You’d probably have to get further details from an insider.
  20. I think I remember something like that happening when the hood was open (or the latch was faulty).
  21. Also note that the numbers at the end designate the torque capacity in NM at the input shaft (after the torque converter). I doubt we’ll see any more transverse 2.7L engines after Edge/Nautilus. I think C2 will max out at 2.3L. and the 2.7 and 3.0 will be RWD only.
  22. Not sure what to tell you. It works for me 99% of the time.
  23. Ford probably won’t disclose the exact reason. Could be cost savings, better performance (speed or smoothness), durability or probably a combination.
  24. I’ve had multiple vehicles with the kick to open lift gate. Works perfectly every time. Your technique must be flawed. I kick in and up touching the top of my foot to the bottom of the bumper about a foot to the left or right of the hitch. Do not wave your foot back and forth.
