  1. I know but I personally would not trust my wife to actually see and interpret that message in the time limit.
  2. That's what I thought - it just unlocks the car. I think the honk is only when taking the fob out of the running vehicle.
  3. Well as long as you're the one who gets stranded you're ok. I have enough things for my wife to be mad at me about - not taking the chance adding this one.
  4. I didn't know it honked if you tried to lock it with the fob inside. I thought it just unlocked. But good to know which one it affects (or both).
  5. If you do then don't complain when your significant other gets stranded somewhere because you got dropped off with the only key in your pocket.
  6. Double honk with fob left in car or the double honk when you remove the fob from a running vehicle?
  7. I just tried the MKX and it closes all the way with one button press whether it's in the normal or fully open position (or tilted). If the Edge stops short it means there is no pinch sensor to stop it from closing if something is in the way. I never use tilt so I didn't test it.
  8. Use what the OM says and what's on the oil cap but yes it should be 5W-20. I would recommend sticking with the factory synthetic blend - most dealerships have quick oil change lanes just like the other places. If you go somewhere else they'll use whatever you pay for. They may have the motorcraft synthetic blend. If you go with regular oil instead of synthetic or synthetic blend I would reduced the IOLM oil life to 70% when you reset it (if possible) or change it at 30% just to be safe.
  9. I guess puddle lamps could be anywhere but most are on the bottom of the mirror for more coverage and the wiring is already there. I don't think the Edge lights up the door handles but not 100% sure. I know the MKX has the approach lights that come on when the fob is within about 15 feet and that includes the door handle lights as well as a Lincoln logo that shines down from the puddle lamps.
  10. Sorry - I thought he was asking if the proximity lights were called puddle lamps. I was just trying to clarify the difference between the puddle lamps on the edge which only light up when the fob is pressed and the Lincoln approach lighting which is a proximity sensor and also includes the door handles.
  11. Just remember every dealer is an independent business - doesn't matter that they all have a Ford sign out front. Ford has no control over their business practices. So just because one dealer says $4900 doesn't mean another dealer won't give you a much cheaper alternative. If the roof is intact I can't believe it would cost $4900.
  12. On the Edge they only light up when the fob button is pressed. On the MKX they light up automatically when it senses the fob near the car and it also illuminates the door handles which is what was originally asked.
  13. That would explain why there is no fluid change recommendation.
  14. It's been mentioned a few times - I think it evens out with wear. I would try a few hard stops from 60 mph or so (safely of course - check traffic). FWIW I don't recall having that problem on our 2016 MkX.
  15. If it was the thermostat then the engine would be running cold and the heater hoses would not be hot. Sounds like both blend doors are staying on cold so it could be the controller. Doubtful both blend doors failed at the same time.
  16. Oh I agree in your particular case - it was more of a general question. I'm thinking your dealer has a power flush machine, not the one that just swaps the fluid.
  17. The advantage is the machine will change 95% of the fluid including the torque converter. Even a 3x drain and refill is only going to get 60%-75% at best.
  18. Lesson learned - any time you change any of the suspension components - get it aligned or you're asking for trouble.
  19. The radio should not shut off after 10 minutes. Should be at least 30.
  20. The first question is what caused you to buckle the seat belt on the empty passenger seat? My guess would be throttle body but since you have a CEL there is no need to guess - let the dealer sort out the codes.
  21. The procedure I'm aware of isn't really a power flush per se - it uses the transmission pump (with the engine running) to swap out the fluid - no extra pressure or chemicals. Maybe that dealership is using a different machine, or maybe I had the wrong info.
  22. Can't you take it to another dealer if its a Ford warranty?
