Scheduling is when they get the vehicles ready to build. Job 1 is the first production build. Ok to buy comes after 5 consecutive days of error free builds and that's when they start shipping.

You could try this: It wouldn't be a warranty issue.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

And 3 mpg...... -
Just replaced my 3.5 yr old fusion battery. My cross traffic and blis sensors went out as it was dying. Low voltage causes all sorts of strange and seemingly unrelated issues.

any work around for door ajar issue
akirby replied to aroo1986's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Nice workaround! -
That's step 1 to allow you to get to a safe place. But beyond that it will actually shut off the vehicle.

Wow. At least an engine is cheaper than a divorce!
-
I thought all Fords had failsafe cooling and would shut down the engine before it got damaged?
-
I bet they did.

Could be the water pump which is internal.

It's already gone for 2017 - replaced by blue jeans which in itself is a nice color but doesn't change much based on the light.

Ventilated/cooled seats in the 2016 fixed?
akirby replied to mjonis's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Known problem. There is a TSB but most say it doesn't work. You're pretty much stuck with the way they work until Ford redesigns it sometime next year (hopefully). There is a person on the f150 forums who 3D printed a part that supposedly works much better but it's expensive and you have to install it yourself or pay somebody. -
Dead Battery Replaced = CD Error
akirby replied to TheWilldog's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Stuff breaks. That's why they make warranties. I'm sure you can find a used unit for a reasonable price. Have you tried pulling the fuse for the cd player to reset it? Do you have sync? If so you can rip your cds to a usb drive. -
Leave the key in the vehicle. Don't close the door all the way. Turn it off. There is a procedure posted elsewhere on the forum to turn it off with forscan software but it's really not necessary.

Can't you use the old card in the meantime? Or does it get the same sd card fault message?

There is no connection to the broken door latches. The Edge has never had a broken door latch problem like the other vehicles. That's why it's not included in the recalls (yet). Have you tried the DIY fixes that have already been posted? If you have it fixed and save your receipts and Ford later decides to issue a recall you will be reimbursed for the expense.

Ford Edge Driver Door Latch recall?
akirby replied to Latrece370's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
If you truly think it's a safety issue you should either fix it or stop driving it and convince the NHTSA that it deserves a recall. I suspect what you really want so for Ford to pay for the repair out of warranty and I don't blame you for wanting that. But short of a NHTSA mandate I don't think it will happen. -
What I see happening a lot more often is there is a problem with a part that they can't fix easily or quickly so in some cases where a recall is not required they just leave the old part in until it gets redesigned. But if they're going to do that I think they should at least extend the warranty to 100K. The real solution is to do a better job of engineering and testing. I think they cut too many experienced engineers during the economic crisis and they haven't replaced that intellectual property yet.

Of course Ford is still at fault here. I wasn't suggesting otherwise. I was only referring to whether or not Ford requiring regular fluid changes would stop the failures from occurring and I don't think it will. The only sure way to do that would be to have a temp sensor and when it exceeds the safe temp notify the owner to have it changed immediately. As for admitting fault and requiring them to pay for hundreds of thousands of cars - that's ridiculous. A warranty is warranty. Almost every part that fails prematurely on a Ford vehicle is Ford's fault. That doesn't matter. What matters is whether the vehicle is still under warranty or not. Ford isn't refusing warranty claims by saying that owners abused their vehicles. If they were then you would be absolutely right. But as far as I know if you're within the 5 yr/60K mile powertrain warranty Ford is replacing them at no charge. All Ford is doing here is not extending the warranty on these to 100K miles, which I think they should do. Whether it's internal heat buildup or something else it's still a faulty part that fails far too often. And since there doesn't seem to be a good permanent fix I think they should extend the warranty. Ford extended the warranty on the Focus tranny and TCM to 100K miles and they've done the same thing on other parts before. But to say that they're leaving a faulty part in service on purpose just to generate revenue for the dealers while killing their quality ratings and increasing their warranty costs at the same time is absolutely ridiculous. If there was an easy fix they would have already done it because it would save them money in the long run.

Ford Edge Driver Door Latch recall?
akirby replied to Latrece370's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
If you think it's a safety issue you wouldn't be driving around with it not fixed. You'd pay immediately to fix it, then worry about whether you get reimbursed. I agree it should be covered by an extended warranty, but saying it should be recalled is a stretch. Door latches that break and let the door open at speed is a serious safety issue. -
Please check the details. The recalls are not for any Edge vehicles and they have to do with the door latch breaking, not a faulty sensor. It covers 2013-2015 Ford C-MAX 2013-2015 Ford Escape 2012-2015 Ford Focus 2015 Lincoln MKC 2015 Ford Mustang 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect An earlier recall included Fusions, MKZs and maybe some other vehicles. Not the same problem and not the same vehicle.

Take off the tin hats. Ford is also having to replace a lot of these under warranty. Only an idiot would purposely do something that costs them a lot of money in repairs, pisses off customers and gets them bad reliability ratings. The more plausible explanation is what Waldo said - it's heat buildup internally due to manufacturing tolerances and if the unit never goes over the heat threshold the fluid lasts the life of the vehicle. If it overheats it's ruined. In that case regular fluid changes would do nothing to prevent 90% of the failures. But if you're rather believe they're doing it on purpose, be my guest.
