  7. It has a sensor because that's how it knows to shut down the AWD when it overheats. But it doesn't show you the temp or tell you that the fluid needs to be changed. If they know how long it needs to stay over temp or at what temp the fluid breaks down then they could easily notify the driver that it needs to be changed.
  8. when they turned the 3.5L sideways there wasn’t enough room for the water pump externally in smaller vehicles like the edge without major super expensive modifications to multiple vehicles. They didn’t just forget that it could be a problem. At the time, water pump failures were pretty rare. In hindsight it looks like a terrible decision but like most things it made sense at the time. As for the PTU fluid - it is lifetime provided it doesn’t get overheated. Once it gets overheated it starts to fail. It appears they didn’t anticipate whatever causes the overheating. It is fair to blame them for not making corrections fast enough. However, simply adding a fluid change recommendation of 50k miles wouldn’t necessarily help. If the fluid overheats at 51K it will probably fail before 100K. The fluid doesn’t wear out unless it overheats. What they should have done is extend the warranty on both the PTUs and water pump to 100K miles. But of course that costs money so it becomes a business decision.
  9. Several cases but still a small percentage of vehicles and some have gone 150k or longer with no problems. I heard they suspected a build up of tolerances within the gears that caused more heat than expected in some units and operating scenarios. I have yet to see an engine failure caused by a motorcraft filter or oil.
  10. Your mini spare has a 21” wheel? That would certainly solve the caliper clearance issue.
  11. There is no mini spare with the performance brake package. My guess is it won’t clear the rotors.
  12. Does the passenger lock button work? If so it’s probably the switch. If not How old is your battery? Batteries only last 3-4 years typically and a weak battery can seem to work fine but cause strange problems. If it’s not the battery then try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes.

  17. This was already answered for you on blueovalforums and I’m pretty sure the 2021 production dates are also posted here. Job 1 for the 2021 edge and nautilus are 1/25. Nobody has said anything about it being cancelled for 2021 or 2022.
  18. They do sell diesel Edges in Europe.
  19. Show her the Explorer Sport as well. It’s RWD and 400 hp. Only current issues on the Edge Sport is some still complain about the transmission shifting but it appears Ford reduced a gear for the 2021 Sports so that may have fixed the problem. Just do a thorough test drive including manual and sport modes to see how it feels. The other historical problem is the PTU but this part is also new and may not have the same issue. Worst case you just need to change the fluid once every year or two.
  20. The factory does a better than average job with the intake and exhaust and people doing just intake and exhaust changes have reported very little if any power gains. This is different than other vehicles in the past. And most people wouldn’t consider a 5-10 hp bump as considerate or worth the extra cost.

  22. I didn’t mean to imply that was all it changed. Just explaining that the main power boost came from advanced timing and/or more boost and why ethanol allowed that.
  23. Fundamentally the tune is just advancing the timing and the more advanced the higher octane required. Ethanol has super high octane ratings - E85 is something like 108 octane. E30 would be in between premium at 93 and E85 at 108. Also allows more turbo boost without detonation. But you MUST run the required octane level.
