  1. Once you adjust the volume it's supposed to stay at that volume, not constantly have to adjust it. It's a bug.
  2. We've already discussed this at length. I asked the same thing but if Waldo's theory is correct then changing the oil regularly won't help a bit unless you are lucky and just happen to change it immediately after it gets too hot and burns up. It sounds like the cause of the overheating is internal (parts tolerances e.g.) and not that easy to diagnose and fix permanently.

That's the problem - you think a warranty should cover anything that's wrong other than things that just wear out and that's not what limited warranties cover (any warranty on anything including electronics, etc.). Warranties provide limited coverage - period. It doesn't matter why something breaks. Design flaw, manufacturing flaw, engineering flaw, sunspots, etc. I know when I buy the vehicle what the warranty terms are. I have the option to buy an extended warranty for $1500 or so. If I choose not to pay for the warranty then I don't expect the mfr to cover something regardless of the cause. In this case I would say that I'm still $200 ahead by not buying a $1500 warranty. I don't expect a mfr to cover things outside the warranty period because that's not the coverage I purchased. That said - I do think Ford should extend the warranty on things like this - which they have done on numerous occasions for other parts - TCMs, trannys, throttle bodies, etc. But even then you're only covered for 100K or so (150K in some cases).
  4. It's a bug - supposed to be fixed in the near future with a new sync 3 release. It's also an issue with the navigation volume.
  5. Possible but I've never heard any complaints about that. And temp and fan speed are pretty basic controls. But it is possible.
  6. If you change the radio you can see what you changed it to on the screen. HVAC is a little harder to figure out especially when you throw in auto mode vs temp manual override, etc. Again I'm not saying it should be that way but they wouldn't have removed it without a reason.
  7. It's only a no brainer if you don't have to field complaints from customers and reviewers. I could see someone getting confused if they changed the fan setting from the steering wheel (maybe even accidentally) and thought it wasn't working right. Should that be a problem for a reasonably intelligent person? No, but I've learned over the years that there aren't nearly as many reasonably intelligent people out there as you might think. Personally I think the other commands being there are superfluous. Temp control is the only one I've ever used.

  9. So the reprogramming allows more variation on the resistance before failing. If it doesn't affect driveability and it's not simply delaying an inevitable replacement then that's a good solution.
  10. Didn't they fix the spark plug problem? They design everything to last 150K miles (minimum) so I don't agree that they don't care. What I do agree on is that when something doesn't work as advertised they may or may not go out of their way to fix it depending on the cost, lifespan of the design, supplier issues, etc. - but they also do that for things that happen during the warranty. It's just a business decision that says it will cost $x to fix it right or $y if we don't fix it and I think they do factor in customer satisfaction - but I suspect that's much lower on the list than cost. They have extended the factory warranty on some parts to 100K or 150K miles (Focus TCM and DCT trans, Throttle bodies, door latches, etc.). Also if the problem is additive parts tolerances and/or sloppy manufacturing then it's luck of the draw whether a particular unit will have problems. And those are not easy to fix and it's not something you can easily test for. It's still Ford's responsibility and if they can't control the parts then they should come up with a better way to handle the heat when it does happen. Or just extend the warranty to cover it.
  11. They don't release details - it's just some updated code - usually to handle some unexpected hardware issue or just a bug in the code or maybe changing the sensitivity of sensor readings.
  12. You don't need wiring to haul bikes or a storage platform. That's what I used mine for on the Escape and what I would have used the MKX for until I bought a utility trailer. You can add the wiring harness - etrailer.com. I have some tips for you if you decide to do that - PM me or I can repeat them here.
  13. Easy for you to say living in Cali..... I'm looking forward to cooler temps and lower humidity for sure. It was tropical in Atlanta last Saturday. My tennis opponent had to quit due to the heat and humidity.
  14. What typically happens is there is some temporary condition or borderline sensor reading that causes the software to go into failure mode. That's why restarting the vehicle usually fixes it at least temporarily. What they do is change the thresholds or timing so that the temporary problem or borderline sensor reading that isn't really a fatal error doesn't trigger a failure. It's like fine tuning the sensitivity on a backup sensor so that you don't get false readings. So it's not necessarily "covering up" a hardware problem.
  15. Probably because people complained and were confused about having so many different ways to change the climate control (steering wheel, hard buttons, 8" display). I use it all the time to adjust temp on my Fusion.
  16. Just like Blazing Copper on the 2007/2008 models. Definitely an eye catcher but probably not all that popular. That said if I liked the color I wouldn't care whether other people liked it or not. Just like it doesn't matter to me how many other vehicles look just like mine. I guess what I'm saying is I really don't give a crap what other people think about my vehicles!
  17. Ford hasn't declared whether map updates will be free and included with the sync 3 software updates (did they?). I'm sure they'll release the software and usb hub to support carplay at the same time which they probably thought would be ready by now.

  19. Well that's quite a difference. Sounds like the blend door actuator. Do a search - lots of info already posted.
  20. Why would you care? It's still under the factory warranty. Take it to a dealer.
  21. It's already available on 2017 models so it's not a sync3 software issue.
