If they know they will have a fix within the next 30 days it would be stupid to go replacing vehicles. They should accommodate free loaners for anyone who doesn't feel comfortable driving with the problem. And if it's not actually fixed by the end of the month then I think the buyback discussion is warranted.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
akirby replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I just meant you're going to different destinations in different parts of the city - waiting on passengers, etc. Not a huge thing but it is different. -
Did your dealer pursue an After Warranty Adjustment?
-
Has anyone actually lost brakes completely? I also thought there were indications that it was going bad before it got bad - or does it happen suddenly?
-
You have to purchase the ESP to get a loaner for service from Ford. The dealer has the ability to give you one on their own if they want.
-
I like the way you say you don't want to turn it off, you just want to know if it can be turned off and where it might be located. LOL!

The only thing that Ford will care about is if sales start to drop or warranty costs are too high. Also - BMWs are not known for stellar quality.

Seems legit to me because you're changing the way you drive, driving in unfamiliar/different areas and driving a lot more than you normally would. You also have more passengers. One could also argue there is more distraction. So there is some additional risk. -

Most insurance policies won't cover you as an uber or lyft driver - you probably need supplemental coverage for that. https://www.geico.com/information/aboutinsurance/ridesharing/faq/ Note - this will vary by provider so check your specific policy. -

Replace "Sync 3" with regular (previous) Sync version?
akirby replied to 2FAST4U's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Try a different phone just to confirm whether it's the phone or sync 3 - probably the phone. Make sure the phone is on the latest firmware and try rebooting it. Finally try a master reset on sync 3. -
Not a factory feature. Are you sure he's not tracking your phone?

Took my new 4x8 utility trailer to the dump on its maiden voyage. The aftermarket hitch and wiring harness worked perfectly. It was only around 1000 lbs including the trailer so no problem for the 3.7L. Best of all I was able to pull it from the back yard around to the front fully loaded with my John Deere lawn tractor. -
So did you replace the controller or not? I couldn't tell for sure. Even non-OEM replacement controllers don't always work out of the box.

If you were having to constantly field questions and repair requests from owners who thought their fluctuating oil gauge was abnormal you'd probably feel differently. All owners are not enthusiasts, or even logical. I completely understand why Ford did it although personally I would prefer an actual real gauge. Perhaps they can make a real gauge an optional display now so those who want it can have it and those who don't understand never see it.

Edge vs. Santa Fe Sport vs Sorento - update
akirby replied to mjonis's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
OTOH they're exporting Edge outside North America now. -
I agree it won't move while in the normal range. But not sure when it starts to move towards hot or how fast. By comparison the old oil gauges were binary - reading either normal or low and no fluctuation in between.
-
So it was just a simple valve cover leak that was misdiagnosed the first time.
-
Sure - it just won't fluctuate with small changes while you're driving. It still goes from Cold to Normal to Hot. Although I'm not so sure it doesn't move up as the vehicle overheats
-
I have a MKX and just realized that the mirrors are mounted to the door instead of the A pillar so I can see where that would make it a little more difficult. I'm also 6' so seeing over the mirror isn't an issue.

LED Blinkers
akirby replied to Groundpounder's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Whatever you get make sure you're using synthetic blinker fluid. LEDs don't like the organic stuff. -
I don't think the normal obd-II code reader can read those codes. Probably need a dealer or a mechanic with an IDS.

If the tune contributed to the failure then that failure won't be covered but it doesn't void the warranty. And I believe they can tell if it was flashed even if you put it back to stock. That said I wouldn't expect a problem provided you use the correct fuel.
