  1. So it would be ok if you only spent $25K? This really shouldn't happen on any vehicle, but stuff does happen despite the mfrs best intentions. And sometimes the problem and permanent fix can't be identified quickly or parts aren't readily available. And that happens with all mfrs from time to time. The key is how the mfr deals with it. You should get a free loaner at a minimum and I believe they should offer buybacks voluntarily after a certain amount of time without having to go the lemon law route. Either way Lemon Law is still available.

    Tube Clamps

You don't want to use worm clamps unless it came with those from the factory.
  3. This is strange. My 2013 Fusion comes on randomly around 20-30 mte. Our 2016 MkX comes on exactly at 50 mte just like the older models.
  4. Mkt gets replaced with a new Aviator in 2-3 years. Explorer will share the same platform. Not sure where they will be built.
  5. Yes, with Forscan or you can do the easy thing and just don't shut the door.
  6. Is it possible you're standing in a different position when getting out of the driver's door causing the fob to be too far away from the sensor sometimes?
  7. So when the doors are all locked and you walk up and grab the rear door handle on the driver's side - does that unlock the vehicle every time?
  8. Nobody said they designed a tire from scratch every time. It's not worth arguing over the degree to which they customize the tires. The important thing is there can be different versions of the same tire so be sure to check your OEM tire specs.
  9. Tire rack may filter for the load rating - if so then they must have the gvwr. I know they filter for other things. I'll have to trust what my engineer says about working with the tire companies to spec out tires. If you choose not to believe it that's fine.
  10. The NHTSA only demands recalls for things that can cause an accident or increase injury during an accident. If this issue isn't likely to cause an accident the they won't issue a recall.
  11. I'm not saying you shouldn't report it but don't expect that to make any difference in getting Ford to address it unless it's resulting in a loss of steering while driving.

  13. So you don't believe you can have the exact same mfr and model of tire in the same size with different load ratings?
  14. Sorry, but I happen to know a Ford tire and suspension engineer and Waldo is 100% correct. I've heard stories of them going through 20 different formulas with a tire mfr before selecting the final version. http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/a7801/when-identical-tires-arent-the-same-9890716/
  15. Tirerack doesn't "recommend" alternatives - they simply show you tires in the same size as the OEM tire. They make no claims regarding load rating. Any tire shop that says you can go lower than the OEM tire is not a shop I would want to do business with.
  16. Can you expand on the use case here? The engine is running, you're outside the car with the fob and you try to open the rear doors? I prefer for it to stay on the screen I selected which is almost always the Audio screen. I hated that every time you started the car MFT would start on the home screen. Of course an option would let you do it either way.
  17. What makes you think Ford isn't doing everything they can to fix the problem as fast as possible?
  18. it was a somewhat common issue on the Lincoln LS. Now that I think about it I don't remember many failures on other vehicles. Sorry - I thought clock springs were well known.
  19. Why is "clock spring" a mystery? It's what connects the wiring in the steering wheel to the car and allows the wheel to turn without kinking the wires. Clock spring failures are relatively common.

  21. If they go out without any prior warnings then I would tend to agree with you.
  22. This falls under the normal warranty coverage which does not provide free loaners unless you purchased the ESP. That said, dealers can still offer loaners on their own.
