  1. Sweet! Can you summarize the differences from the original cluster?
  2. Well you'd be out of the break-in period in a day or so.........
  3. I think that's right. The manufacturing tolerances (and environment) are much different today than 20-30 years ago.
  4. Perfectly normal, especially with the transmission. It keeps a table of shift pressures in memory and adjusts them as needed for optimal shifting. When you clear out the tables it has to relearn them so all you're doing with that procedure is speeding up the relearning process.
  5. It can be puzzling. Sometimes it's technical limitations, sometimes it's probably just marketing.
  6. My 2000 Lincoln LS V8 did not have a transmission dipstick. We all thought it was some great new transmission feature that it never needed fluid replacement. Nope - the transmission engineer told us that there simply wasn't room in the engine bay. Also - it was just cost savings then no vehicles would have them.
  7. Not sure if the run the engines before they go in the vehicle. I don't think so but not 100% sure.
  8. Federal mandate - ALL passenger cars.
  9. When a vehicle reaches the end of the assembly line and goes on the dyno for final testing, they go WOT. It's not a problem even during the first 1000 miles. They only say to vary the vehicle speed and don't tow anything.
  10. At the risk of being snarky........ http://lmgtfy.com/?q=compustar+cs800-s+installation+manual First link.
  11. The sad part is that Ford had the individual tire pressure data for several years, they just didn't tell the driver.
  12. I thought it came about as a result of the Firestone/Explorer fiasco where underinflated tires combined with a tire defect caused blowouts.
  13. Should work for basic code reading and clearing of codes.
  14. Also - don't underestimate the amount of testing that has to be done. It might be a 5 minute software change but if you have to test it with every release on 15 different variations it starts to add up quickly. And with complexity comes more opportunities for bugs. There is a tradeoff.
  15. Not sure what you mean about not optimizing fonts/sizes/graphics or placement. Seems perfectly fine to me. There is always room for improvement. I'd like to see more customization capabilities especially in the gauge cluster. I think at some point Lincoln should have a distinct and more upscale interface with more options - but I understand why they don't have it right now. After the MFT disaster I think Ford is trying to focus more on functionality and stability first before they make enhancements and that includes AA/CP and Applink. Also don't underestimate the complexity in trying to make it work across so many different models on so many different platforms: Fiesta/Ecosport, Focus/Escape/Cmax, Transit Connect, Transit, F series, Fusion/Edge, Explorer/Taurus/Flex, Expedition, Mustang, Ranger/Bronco (coming soon) Not to mention the Lincoln variants. They've done a lot of standardizing across platforms to date but have a long way to go in that regard.
  16. Sometimes there are codes stored that do not trigger the CEL. So it is worth checking even if the light isn't on.
  17. Part of the problem is sync 3 is used in every vehicle and with multiple dash and cluster designs. Explorer is different from Focus is different from Mustang is different from Edge/Fusion, etc. etc. Not saying they can't do a better job but it's not as simple as they just didn't try.
  18. Welcome! Please start a new thread in the appropriate section for the stutter. It isn't turbo lag.
  19. If you see a puddle of reddish brown fluid on the floor, get it checked.
  20. Blue Jeans is roughly a shade darker than TGTBB looks in the shade without the teal/green undertones.
  21. Also, no wi-fi hotspot or user data. Apples and Cucumbers.
  22. So you're connected to the vehicle and you go to bluetooth devices on the phone, click on Sync (the one that's currently connected if there are multiples), then set the notifications to ON? Try doing a reset on your phone by holding the power and home buttons for 20 seconds or so. Then, if necessary, unpair and repair your phone.
